Wayfair Favorites (on sale!)

*This post is sponsored by Wayfair and affiliate links are used. All opinions and product selections are my own!

I’m so excited to share some of my Wayfair favorites with you today!  I was thrilled when Wayfair reached out to me about this post because they are one of my favorite on-line sites for home decor.  They literally have EVERYTHING you could ever want to create a home you love and everything is on major sale this weekend for Black Friday and Cyber Monday!  At the end of this post I’ll link to all of my favorites on sale right now!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Birch Lane is one of my favorite brands that Wayfair carries (classic, quality products for great prices) so when I head to their web site looking for something specific I usually go through all of the Birch Lane items first.  I’ve been bringing a little more gold into my home (loving the mixed metal look!) so I’ve been on the hunt for a new gold floor lamp for my family room to sit next to my striped chair.  Talk about a happy day when I found this adorable set of lamps with great reviews for such a good price!  They JUST sold out but are coming back in stock so check back!  I’ll also watch and share the news when they are back in stock here on my blog.

I wasn’t looking for a table lamp, but if my new floor lamp happens to come with the cutest matching gold task lamp who am I to refuse?  I simply had no choice but to accept that they were coming as a pair and to find a fun place for both.  Easy and done. :)  I might move this task lamp at some point to a bedroom or my office (it’s not really a console table lamp) but I don’t know.. I’m loving the matching set in my family room right now!  I have my eye on this beautiful gold accent mirror too.  Wouldn’t it be pretty over a console or entry table?

These are some other Birch Lane items I love that are on sale this weekend (including my mudroom fixture!)..

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

A couple of other Wayfair favorites in my family room right now are the adorable Church Birdhouses I picked up last year for holiday decor.  They light up so cute at night!  I have two of them on my family room shelves.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

I also love this white/gold serving bowl so much that I picked up two of them.  It’s perfect to display with ornaments during the holidays and then I can use them for entertaining after.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

This glass serving bowl on my coffee table is another favorite from Wayfair.  So pretty and it’s on sale for such a great deal right now!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Of course I couldn’t have a snowflake Christmas tree without a sparkly snowflake pillow. :)   (This red snowflake pillow is similar and I have the matching lumbar pillow too!)

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

The cute rustic iron bells on my door are a Wayfair find from years ago.  I’ve bought others since and this set is still my favorite!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

The navy Newport Bayside table in my dining room was a Wayfair splurge and I’ve been so happy with it!  A beautiful piece of furniture that looks great all year.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Bonus that it’s perfect to hold my hot chocolate station. :)

Wayfair is also a fun place to find unique, decorative trays.  They have such a huge selection and I’m obsessed with the latest two trays I ordered from them.  This Snyder Vanity Tray is so elegant and stylish!  It comes in silver, gold and black.  The long shape makes it perfect for any type of table.  It’s currently in my entry and I love the sleek look of it against the rustic wood.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

The other tray I recently bought is this pink Hepner Decorative Accent tray.  So cute and I love the gold handles!  I have it at the foot of my bed holding ornaments with my other white and gold serving bowl.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

This pink tray works perfectly with my bedroom tree (more pics coming soon!) but I’m also excited to use it in the Spring/Summer.  These are a few Wayfair trays I love!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

My Eucalyptus Swag from this Fall is a Wayfair find and is back in stock!  It’s so beautiful in person!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

I’m going to add a few berries to them to make them Christmas ready. :)

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

You can also find my long time favorite kitchen rugs at Wayfair.  I love Dash and Albert rugs and Wayfair carries a great selection.. so many cute styles!  A lot of their rugs are on major markdown right now for Black Friday too!  These are some of my favorites..

{light fixture – on sale!/similar tree/knitted red tree skirt/mercury garland/similar ski lift sign}

Last year I decorated this little tree in my mudroom with Wayfair products and it turned out so cute!  Most of the items are back in stock and on sale so I’ll link to them all (or similar items) at the bottom of this post.

Love this red knitted Christmas tree skirt!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

And this cute snowflake tree skirt I’ve had a few years that’s on sale.  I clearly have a thing with snowflakes.  Maybe because we rarely see them living in San Diego?  Funny story.. we were visiting my sister and her family in Salt Lake in October and we hopped in the rental car leaving the airport and there was an ice scraper on the seat in the car.  My kids didn’t know what it was!  They were like “what’s this thing for.. did someone who had the car before us forget something?”  Ha ha.. Kenny and I were laughing.  Clearly they were raised in southern Cal!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

This mercury garland is so beautiful!  I’m going to add it to the garland on my staircase this year.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Christmas trees at night.  Nothing better!  The lights create such a beautiful, welcoming sight.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Last but not least.. I found my darling 3 piece reindeer set I bought last year at Wayfair this year!  You guys.. this is the cutest set of reindeer!

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

Last December I set them by my front door but this year I moved them over in front of my window on our narrow front porch.

Wayfair Favorites (on sale!) Sunny Side Up

They light up and sparkle so beautifully at night!  The baby and mom are supposed to look at each other but it works better on my porch to set them in a line like this. :)

I hope you enjoyed seeing a few of my Wayfair favorites I’m decorating with at the moment!  They truly carry everything and then some when it comes to home decor and have become one of my favorite on-line spots to shop!  I’ll link all of my Wayfair favorites below.  Enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving weekend and happy sale shopping!

Holiday Gift Guide for Men

*affiliate links used

Left Center Right (Sunny Side Up)

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We just got done playing such a fun game with the kids tonight at my moms. It’s called Left Center Right and we all got laughing so hard!  It’s a fun, fast paced game that all ages can play.

Left Center Right (Sunny Side Up)

My mom snapped these quick when we were playing.  Someone goes home with all the money and I wish I could say it was me but not this time.  Man.. I was so close!  My kids loved this game so I have no doubt we’ll be playing it a lot this holiday season.  What are some of your favorite family games?  I’d love to hear!

Gift Guide for Men (Sunny Side Up)

*Snapped this selfie right before we ate today.  Grateful for him. :)

Today I’m sharing my gift ideas for MEN!  I’ll also include a round-up of my other gift guides/favorite things below if you missed any to help you with your Black Friday holiday shopping.  It has made my day to hear from some of you that these gift guides have been helpful!  I love hearing about friends’ favorite things too.  It’s so fun sharing ideas so that we can all find holiday gifts that will be useful and meaningful to the people we love most!  Here are some things my husband and the other men in my life love along with a couple of gifts I’m picking up this year!  (I still need to share ideas for BOYS!  That will be my last gift guide and it’s coming.) :)
Gift Guide for Men (Sunny Side Up)

1 – Crew Neck Sweater – Kenny loves BR sweaters like this!  He also has and loves this sweater that’s half off!

2 – Knit Tech Gloves – Warm gloves with touchscreen-friendly fingertips so you can still access your phone in the cold!

3 – Crew Hair Products – This is my husband’s favorite for hair!  He is always trying new Crew products and loves them all but especially the 3-in-1 Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash and the Fiber Molding Creme.

4 – Wood Phone Docking Station/Organizer – Ordered this for my husband because he needs a place to consistently put all of these small items (key’s, phone, watch) so that we aren’t searching for where he set them down every other day!

5 – Travel Shaving Kit – I had heard great things about this brand of shaving products for men so I’ve been thinking about getting it for Kenny to try.  I read the reviews and it sounds like this kit is so small so now I’m looking at this Kiehls Starter Kit instead.  Do any of you have men in your life who use products like this?  Do they love them?  Kenny always just uses cheap shaving cream and I know he would love something nicer!

6 – Apple Watch – One of my husband’s absolute favorite things!  He doesn’t go anywhere without his Apple watch.  I asked my brother-in-law tonight what his favorite things are and his Apple watch was #1 on his list too so clearly a popular item!

7 – Leaf Blower (here/here) – My dad loves his Leaf Blower!  I linked to two great options.

8 – Nano Puff Water Resistant Jacket – Thinking we need to try this jacket since the vest has been such a hit!

9 – Reflective Vest for Running or Cycling – Kenny wears a similar vest every evening because he runs in the dark.  I love that this vest is so light weight and comfortable and there is NO WAY people aren’t going to see you running in this.  The reviews are great so we’ll be giving this a try.  If you run or bike in the dark please wear something like this!  Safety first. There’s my mom moment for the day. ;)

10 – Patagonia Nano Puff Vest – Hands down my husband’s favorite thing in this world!  He LIVES in this vest (wore it today as you can see pictured above!) and all he wants for Christmas this year is the same vest in another color!  Done and done. :)

11 – Fossil Wallet – I love Fossil wallets and have given them to my dad, husband and brother for gifts!

12 – Dress Socks – You can’t go wrong with new socks.  Not the most exciting gift but always appreciated. :)

13 – Ugg Leather Slippers – Such a fun gift for any man in your life!  You just can’t get better than cozy Ugg slippers this time of year.

14 – Under Armour Duffle Gym Bag – This gym back is on sale and has great reviews!  Perfect for so many occasions.  It comes in lots of colors and sizes so I also picked one up for each of my girls for sleepovers!

15 – Slim Fit Jogger Pants – Vuori has become one of my favorite brands for women’s lounge pants and joggers.  I thought I’d try a pair for Kenny and see if he loves them as much as I do!

If you missed any previous gift guides OR my 2019 Favorite Things post I’ll add links below.  SO many of these items I’ve recommended are now on sale!  Woot woot!  Happy shopping. :)

New Beds, Gifts for Her and Sales Galore!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  You know what makes me so happy?  When I send out a blog post to those of you on my e-mail list and I get back all of the “out of office” replies.  There’s probably a way I could make it so that I don’t get all of them, but I haven’t looked into it because I love getting them in my inbox!  It makes me happy to know so many of you are “out of the office” and taking time off for the holidays.  I sit and delete them all with a big smile on my face.  Kenny thinks I’m so weird… ha.  But I love knowing my blog friends are taking time off!  So I hope you’re all out of the office and enjoying your day today. :)

Christmas Gifts for Her (Sunny Side Up)

We traveled over the river and through the woods to grandma’s house and are so happy to be with family!  We got in late and my cute mom surprised the kids with new beds and bedding for all the cousins.  So much fun!  She got these darling Pintuck duvet covers on Amazon and then picked up some cute Christmas blankets at Home Goods.  (Ignore the horrible lighting!  Snapped these quick at night with my phone before the kids got in bed.)

Christmas Gifts for Her (Sunny Side Up)

The boys got sloth blankets and stuffed animals.  :)

Christmas Gifts for Her (Sunny Side Up)

My mom was doing a lot of food prep so I volunteered to take the kids to Target.  Oh my WORD.  That was an adventure!  I felt like I had 300 kids with me!  Ha.  I told them they could all pick out a surprise from Aunt Erin and it was madness keeping them all together.  (Snapped this waiting for El to get some make-up.)  We came home with colorful teeth from slurpees, all sorts of surprises and new pjs.  I fell on the couch from exhaustion didn’t move for an hour after.  Attempting to be a fun Aunt is not for the weary. ;)

Christmas Gifts for Her (Sunny Side Up)

I snapped this pic in my closet when I started packing.  I was so excited to pack all of my recent favorite sweaters because it’s COLD in Utah right now.  A storm is coming and we’re crossing our fingers we get a little snow!

I’ve shared some of these sweaters, but haven’t had time to take pics of them all so here are links to all of my recent favorites! Some of them are marked down.  YEA.

I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow to the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade on TV.  We always start Thanksgiving day at my mom’s in pjs next to the fireplace watching the Macy’s parade.  So fun to lounge all morning with my brother and sister and their families.  One of my favorite days of the year.  I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving day!  I’m truly so grateful for all of you, your friendship and your support of my blog.  It means so much to me.

I put together a fun holiday gift guide for all of the women in your life!  Basically it’s 10 things I have and love or want this year. :)  Below the gift guide are links to some of my favorites that are already on sale.  So many good deals!

Holiday Gift Guide for Her (Sunny Side Up)

1 – TULA Glow Getters Set – I ordered this a couple of weeks ago and am loving it!  It includes my favorite eye balm I mentioned in my 2019 Favorite Things post and I love the primer (almost gives your face a little mini tan!).  Such a great deal and would be a fun gift!

2 – Tory Burch Leather Shoulder Bag – Might have ordered this one to me from me this year!  Such a classic, beautiful purse and 50% off!  I love this TB purse too.  There are so many beautiful Tory Burch items on sale this weekend!

3 – You’ve seen this in my home before.. I love this gold mirror tray!  I get most of my decorative trays from West Elm (love these too) and they always look so good styled different ways.

4 – North Face Fleece Jacket – I have this fleece jacket and it’s so warm and comfortable!  Also on sale this weekend!

5 – Nudes Lipgloss Kit – Bobbi Brown lip gloss is my favorite!  I hinted to Kenny that I’d love this because all of the colors look like my favorite shades and it’s such a good deal on this set!

6 – Gigietta Bootie – These Vince Camuto booties I got at the N sale last summer have become Fall staples.  Love them and they would make a great gift for a sister, mom, friend.

7 – Hanging Travel Toiletry Bag – I ordered this and can’t wait to get it!  I’ve been looking for a new travel bag for make-up and after a little Amazon research I decided this looks like the best!  I’ll share it in stories when it comes if I love it! :)

8 – Barefoot Dreams Blanket/Items – The Barefoot Dreams blanket is on sale!  Pretty much anything Barefoot Dreams is a great gift idea and you can find their fun items here on Amazon or here at Nordstrom.  Robes, Cardis, Blankets, Socks.. ALL amazingly soft and cozy!

9 – Ugg Robe – Speaking of soft.. you can’t go wrong with Ugg and this short robe looks perfect to put on after a shower.  I would love getting this as a gift!

10 – Ugg Slippers – These Ugg slippers look so cute and come with amazing reviews.  I’m in love with them in pink or grey!  This cute similar slipper with the pompom is on sale and also adorable.

Holiday Gift Guide for Girls

Thanksgiving week! So much fun. I hope you’re all as excited as I am about spending time with loved ones and pulling out the stretchy pants. :)  Today I’m sharing my gift guide for GILRS! My girls are now teens (prayers are appreciated) so a lot of these gifts are things they love/want and are great for 11-17 year olds.  I also included a few cute things for younger girls that El and Ad would have been obsessed with!  Last year I put together a fun gift guide that included a lot of things for kids of all ages so I’ll add that at the end of the post too if you’re looking for more ideas.  Fun gifts for boys and men are coming soon!  Along with lots of Christmas decor. :)

Holiday Gift Guide for Girls (Sunny Side Up)

1- Elsa’s Magical Ice Palace  and Elsa’s Ice Palace – Are these not the cutest for little girls!?  With Frozen 2 out Elsa’s Ice Palace would make any little one smile Christmas morning. :)  Have you all seen it yet?  We took the kids on Saturday and they loved it!  Personally I didn’t think it was as good as the first Frozen, but it’s always hard to beat the original.  My kids all 3 liked it better than the first one though so what do I know. ;)

2-  Grab & Go Ponytail Holders – My girls’ favorite ponytail holders!  I love putting a new set in their stockings each year. They come in so many different colors and I use and love them too!  My girls and I have thick hair and these are the best we’ve found for really holding your hair without pulling.

3- Faux Fur Heart Pillow – So cute for any girls’ bed!

4 – Wildflower iPhone Case – These Wildflower phone cases are all the rage with my girls and their friends right now!

5 – Facial Mask Set – Anything to do with skin care is a great gift for tweens/teens and I know my girls will love these facial masks!

6 – 3 Tier Rolling Cart – K is this not the cutest rolling cart!?  It doesn’t come with the pretty gold lettering, but in a way that’s nice because you can label it exactly how you want.  It can be used in so many different ways!  Especially perfect for crafts.  I wish I would have had this to roll into our kitchen when my girls were little!

7 – Vixen Earbud Case – My oldest is rarely seen without her earbuds in so no doubt this cute case will be a hit.  I’m hoping it encourages her to put them away every now and again and join us in the land of the living. ;)

8 – Initial Pendant Necklace – I have this exact necklace and love it!  I always include initial pendants on gift guides because people love them and it’s so fun to give something that is personalized.

9 – Hooded Fleece Robe – I’ve shared Kole’s obsession with this robe before.  Hands down his most beloved item!

10 – LED Stripe Lights – Ellie wants these lights for her room for Christmas.  I’m not so sure about them but.. “all my friends have them mom!  They’re so cool!”  So we’ll see. ;)

11 – Toiletry Case – This is so cute for travel!  I love all of the separate compartments.  Compartments make me so happy. :)

12 – Sticker Pack For Water Bottle – These are so much fun.  Addison loves having her beloved Hydro Flask decked with stickers to take to school every day!

13 – Favorite Daughter Tee – Cutest tee.  Especially if you just have one daughter. ;)

14 – Mini Heart Earrings –  Addison just got her ears pieced a few months ago so earrings are going to be a hit this year!  I love this cute heart set.

15 – LuLuLemon Align Pant 28″ – Ellie and all of her teen-age friends who dance are obsessed with these leggings!  It’s all they wear to school every day.  Leggings and a hoodie.  I resisted for the longest time because of the price and then finally broke down and got me a pair and AHHH!  Seriously the most SLIMMING leggings I’ve ever worn.  My butt has never looked better. ;)  Splurge on a pair for yourself if you haven’t tried them!  Before you get a pair for your teen. ;)

16 – Butter Socks – You can never go wrong with butter socks!  My girls and I live in them this time of year.

17 – Ugg Slippers – Same with Ugg slippers.  I love these in the pink for girls!

18 – Jewelry Display Stand – I love this jewelry display stand for necklaces and earrings!  The gold and pink combo is perfection.

19 – Cozy Pom Throw – Cutest cozy pom throws.  Perfect for a girls bedroom for decor and snuggling!

20 – 24 Color Nail Polish – Clear Nail Polish Organizer – My girls are constantly painting their nails!  Excited to get them some fun new colors and an organizer to hold them all!

I hope these gift ideas were helpful if you’re buying for any girls this year!  Below is my KIDS gift guide from last year. :)

Holiday Gift Guide for Kids (Sunny Side Up)

1 – Mongoose Expo Scooter 12″ Wheels – Since Kole doesn’t read this blog I think I’m ok mentioning that mom bought these fun scooters for him and his cousins this year!  They have absolutely loved their Razor Scooters and ride them all the time so she thought this would make a fun upgrade.  Sure to be a hit!  I still remember the Christmas me and my sister and our neighborhood friends all got pink scooters.  One of our favorite Christmas mornings we always talk about!

2 – Zingo – Kole’s all time favorite game when he was a couple of years younger.  If only I had a dollar for all the times I’ve played it with him!  I could afford a lot of Zingo games. ;)

3 – PB Kids Dolls (on sale!)  –  PB Kid dolls are too much fun.  So life like and you can brush/style their hair.  I miss buying dolls!  If my niece was a few years older I would buy this Special Edition Equestrian Doll so fast!  And the horse and stable.  Maybe I want these for myself for Christmas.  I’m not even kidding about that.  Ha..

4 – The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs – This looks so cute for kids who are interested in learning to cook!  I got it for Addison this year (she knows to stay away from this post!).  The recipes look simple so maybe her mom can also learn a thing or two. ;)

5 – Let’s Play House (Dust Sweep Mop) Pretend Play Set – All three of my kids LOVED to pretend to clean with me when they were little!  They always cleaned along side of me and I honestly think it helped teach them some basic housekeeping skills and how to pitch in and help at a young age.  Our little pretend broom and mop were favorites and we still have them today!

6 – Let it Snow (snow powder for slime) – if you have a child who is still into slime (I’m so sorry.. I’m suffering from the same fate over here!) this snow powder is all the rage.

7 – Harry Potter Hogwarts Great Hall – This looks amazing!  Perfect for the child who is into Legos or Harry Potter.  And if you have a child who loves both.. this should make him/her very happy.  And very occupied!  The gift that gives back to parents too.. ;)

8 – Stencils and Drawing Art Set for Kids – Most kids love stencils!  And I think they get overlooked a lot.  We often get our kids art sets, but stencils are a great addition because they give kids some direction.  Kole has never been into art and coloring, but if I place a set of stencils in front of him and he can trace a few things it spurs his imagination and creativity.  I’ve always loved stencils!

9 – Personalized Woodwork Bench – Santa brought Kole this personalized Woodwork Bench for Christmas when he was younger and he loved it!  I loved that it had his name on it. :)  Kids have so much fun hammering and pounding with tools.  Kole also had and loved a set just like this one he got for Christmas one year.  Toys he played with again and again and again!  He still gets out the drill from time to time and “fixes” our cupboards. :)

10 – Incredibles Action Figures – My kids played with small action figures like this ALL the time when they were younger and this set is adorable!  Have you all seen the new Incredibles movie?  We watched it as a family last week and loved it.

11 – Black Stripe Teepee (on sale!) – If you follow my blog closely you know we have and love this black stripe teepee!  Aside from being fun to play inside, it also looks darling in a playroom or bedroom.  Because.. stripes. :)

12 – JellyCat Stuffed Animals – My kids all love their stuffed animals.  Still today they each have a few that they sleep with and drag around.  JellyCat stuffed animals are the softest!  Lots of fun, fuzzy options for a child of any age. :)

13 – Lifetime Youth Basketball Hoop – I’m not totally sure what Santa has up his sleeve this year but if I had to guess I’d bet on this lifetime youth basketball hoop for Kole.  Or this one.  Both look like great options for some easy basketball practice in the back yard. :)

14 – Kids UGG boots – I held off getting my girls Ugg boots for a long time because they are pricey and kids’ feet grow so quickly!  But they wanted them so much so one Christmas a few years ago I finally caved.  I’ve been pleasantly surprised how much they wear them!  They live in them during the winter months even with our not so freezing climate.  They have been so cute on them and worth the money!  So many fun styles out this year.  I especially love these Bailey Bow boots for girls and I know Kole would love these cozy Dakota Moccasins!

15 – Disney Princess Dress Up Trunk – I can’t share a gift guide for kids and not include princess dresses for little girls!  Long time readers remember just how many we use to have at our house. :)

16 – Portable Soccer Goal – Perfect gift for any little soccer player!  My mom bought one for Kole when he started playing soccer this year and it’s so easy to pop up in the yard for a little kicking practice or a game when friends are over.  This one comes in multiple size options too!

17 – Boxing Ball Set with Punching Ball – Kole wants a punching ball for Christmas this year and this is the best I found!  I’m actually really excited about this because he has SO MUCH ENERGY and is always walking around punching things like my throw pillows.  Hoping he can burn off some energy with this thing and leave my beloved pillows alone. ;)

18 – Latch Board – all three of my kids LOVED this!  Such a great little toy for toddlers!  It really held their attention and was great for fine motor skills.  We still have ours.  I’m saving this beloved toy for grandkids!  I absolutely love Melissa and Doug and would recommend any of their puzzles, games and toys for young kids.

19 – Barbie Dreamhouse – Probably my girls most favorite Christmas gift ever!  Oh the hours they would spend playing together with their dolls and doll houses.  Have I mentioned how much  I miss that? :)  We have lots of favorite doll houses.  Aside from the Barbie Dreamhouse (hello elevator, pool and slide!) my girls also loved their Kidkraft dollhouse (this mansion is amazing!) and when they were really little this Fisher-Price My First Dollhouse was a favorite. We still have all 3 dollhouses.  None of us can part with them!

20 – Pirate Ship Bath Toys – Kole’s all time favorite bath toys!  These fun pirates stick to the side of the tub so kids can build ships on the side of the tub and and then float the rafts while they play.  Kole played with these in the tub for years and never got tired of them!  My kids also loved these foam letters and numbers in the tub when they were younger.  Too much fun sticking things on the side of the bathtub. :)

21 – Princess Castle Play Tent – I think the only thing my girls loved as much as their dolls and dollhouses (and their princess dresses!) was their pink play tent.  We had a pink play tent in our living room for years!  This Castle Play Tent is such a dream for any little girl.

22 – Radio Flyer Ziggle – Ending on one of Kole’s long time favorite toys.  He loved his Ziggle and rode it every afternoon for years!

My Christmas Porch

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{Champion Sweatshirt/Yoga Pants/similar Adidas Sneakers}

I’ve been up on a ladder all week!  And I’m still standing with no injuries!  And my front porch is ready for Christmas!  And it’s Friday!  Clearly there are reasons to celebrate around here. :)

If you hang out with me on IG stories you might have witnessed the day I attempted to hang this garland around my door and half of it came crashing down.  It wouldn’t be holiday decorating without a few minor hangups now would it!?  Ha.  I had to replace a command hook and then we were back in business!

Ready to see my 2019 Christmas porch?

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

{Bells/Wreath Hook/Trees/Baskets/similar Striped Rug/similar mats here and here}

I’m so excited about how it turned out!  It’s simple and clean and screams Christmas and that’s what I love about it.  All of the greenery is fake but looks incredibly real which is also a favorite.  Getting the look without the maintenance and mess?  Sign. Me. Up.  :)  The garland is the same garland I used on my mantel that sold out, but below are some other realistic garland options I’ve found that are still in stock!

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

I’m especially excited about these adorable faux potted Cyprus Trees.  Could not love them more!  They look so real and are absolutely beautiful in person.  So fun for inside or outside.  They came in a black pot but I knew I wanted them in baskets so I tried several baskets I already owned.  My beachcomber basket that I use for my faux fig tree was a great fit (you can see it in the first picture), but I didn’t love the tall handles that were touching the tree.

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

I had to make a Target run for some other things a couple of days later and spotted these cute baskets and decided I’d buy two and just try them and what do you know.. PERFECTION.  The exact size I needed and they look like they were MADE to hold my new trees.  Don’t you love it when things just click like that?  A trip to Target is always a good thing!

If only I could get my husband to understand this universal truth..

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

This was the first time I’ve ever put anything around my front door so there was a bit of trial and error involved!  Basically I just measured how long the garland would hang to barely touch the ground.

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

Then I placed two command hooks next to each side of my front door and hung one garland on each side.  (The garland I used is 6 feet long.)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

It took one more garland to go across the top of the door and hang down on each side long enough to meet the other garland I placed on the command hooks.  (So this look took 3 garlands total.)  The top felt too thin to me but I didn’t want to use another garland to make it thicker (I was running out and still had spots I wanted the garland inside!) so I added a few berry picks.  (Similar options are here and here.)  It made the garland look more full on the top and I like how the berries and eucalyptus leaves add a little something extra. :)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

I had to place 2 command hooks on the top sides of my door ledge also to hold the garland in place on top.  I added the word command to this picture in the 4 spots I placed the hooks!  Fingers crossed they stay put.  At least until December 26th.  I’ll hold my breath just like I did hoping my Fall mums would stay alive.  (It’s beyond a miracle that they did!)

Christmas Front Porch (Sunny Side Up)

I might add some lights to the trees.. and maybe some garland or ornaments?  Or not.  I’m really enjoying the simplicity of this look right now.

Holiday Gift Guide (neighbors, teachers and friends)

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend! I finished decorating my front porch and I’m so excited about how it turned out! Really simple this year but that’s what is appealing to me at the moment. :) I’ll share it soon! Today is my first holiday gift guide and I’ve rounded up some fun gift ideas for neighbors, teachers and friends!  One thing I’ve started doing in recent years is buying my kids’ teacher gifts and delivering them early in December.  I used to wait until the last day of school before Christmas break, but the teachers are bombarded with so many gifts that day!  It’s nice to give them a little something earlier in the month with a hand written note from my kids.  I do that often with friend/neighbor gifts too and then you can give a gift that they can enjoy during December.  The bonus is those gifts are checked off of my list early and I can focus on family gifts and December activities.  Just a quick tip if that helps anyone! :)

Holiday Gift Guide - Neighbors, Teachers, Friends (Sunny Side Up)

1 –  Floral Spiral Notebook – You all know how much I love a good list!  A cute notebook and pens is something everyone can use.

2 – Tumbler 4 Pack – You can’t go wrong with a Starbucks gift card and adding a cute tumbler with it makes the gift even more fun!  This 4 pack is so cute and could be spread out with gift cards to 4 different teachers/friends.

3- Chocolate Croissants – I have friends who swear these are the best Croissants ever!  I was going to try them last year and the forgot so this year for sure!  They would make such a nice gift for a family to enjoy over the holiday break!

4- Magnolia Table Recipe Book – Joanna’s recipe book would be a hit for anyone who loves to cook!  Personally I’d prefer the pre-made croissants, but to each their own.  Ha. ;)

5- Beanie & Plaid Scarf Set – This beanie and plaid scarf set is adorable in both color options!  Clothes can be tricky to buy for others if you don’t know exact sizes, but a scarf and beanie would work for anyone who lives in cold temps!

6- Initial Necklace – I have this initial necklace and it’s so beautiful!  Perfect for someone special on your list.  I’ve given initial necklaces to friends and to both of my daughters for gifts in the past and they are always a hit!

7-  Peppermint Bark and Peppermint Hot Chocolate – Two of our long time favorites for neighbors gifts!  Of course we always pick some up for our family to enjoy each December too. :)

8- Rae Phone Crossbody – Last year I gave my girls similar crossbody bags for Christmas and they have loved them!  These are so perfect with a spot for your phone and a section for credit cards.  They come in lots of cute colors too!

9- Doleman Sleeve Cardigan – Who doesn’t love a great cardi this time of year!?  Perfect for any woman on your list!  This one is so stylish and comes in lots of colors.

10- Amazing Grace Shower Gel  and Lavande Foaming Bath – Both of these are on my Christmas wish list this year!  I LOVE taking a hot bubble bath at the end of a long week and both of these products come highly recommended!

11- Eyeshadow Palette – An amazing deal on this Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette!  I always hear rave reviews about CT makeup and this set comes with both every day and special occasion options.  Going to add this one to my list for Santa too. :)

12- Round Marble Serving Board – You can’t go wrong giving someone a serving board and this round marble board is beautiful!  I have it and love it and use it often for both serving and decor.

13- Butter Socks – One of my long time favorite gifts to give!  The coziest socks ever.  I gave these to friends after my Christmas pajama party last year!

14-  White Popcorn Bowls Set Of Five  and World Market Red Popcorn Bowl – Popcorn is a staple at our house and so are fun popcorn bowls!  We have the red set but how cute is this white and black set I found too!?  Such a perfect gift with some homemade popcorn or a package of Popcornopolis!  Another favorite at our house. :)

15-  Cozy Pom Pom Throw – I’ve given throws for teacher gifts in the past and they make great gifts this time of year.  This pom pom throw is so soft and fuzzy and would also look great draped over a couch.  A win for anyone on your list!

I hope these gift ideas were helpful!  And that your Monday isn’t too Mondayish. :)

2019 Favorite Things!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Without further rambling from me.. here are my 2019 favorite things!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

(You can find my mantel sources and how I attached my garland here and my cute new thermal pjs here!)

Still waiting on my wreath to come so that I can finish decorating this fireplace, but that doesn’t stop me from chilling here in the cold mornings after I drop my kids off at school!  Hot chocolate in hand of course because it’s 68 degrees in San Diego.  Brrrr. ;)  Don’t worry about me though.. I can handle the frozen tundra that surrounds me because I have my Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Throw and my long time favorite Pom Pom Fleece Lined Socks (so many fun colors this year!).  I have to say that I hesitated buying this throw for years because of the price!  I kept hearing how amazing it was but it’s so expensive for a blanket.  I bought it during the N sale last summer and loved it, but still couldn’t decide if it was worth the price.  Well now that the temps are cooler guess what throw EVERYONE in my family is fighting over?  It’s so good you guys.  So soft.. so warm.. so cozy.  It’s a splurge for sure, but it’s the gift that keeps on giving.  I’ve actually been hiding it in my bedroom lately and just pulling it out after my kids are asleep because I want it all to myself!  (My new pjs are so cute and cozy and such a great fit!  Yes.. I bought something leopard AND decorated a neutral Christmas tree.  Who even am I right now!?)  Ha. ;)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Multi Device Charging Station – This charging station has become a staple at our house!  So nice to have one central spot we can all charge our devices.  (I bought extra cords that worked for our needs!)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Screen Mom Screen Cleaner – Now that your devices are charged it’s time to keep them clean. :)  I love this screen cleaner and use it every day!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Magic Bullet Blender – You all know that I lack major cooking skills and to be honest, sometimes kitchen appliances scare me.  But this!  This cute little blender I can handle!  It’s so easy to use (my kids use it all the time too!).  So simple to toss in some fruit and make a quick smoothie for a snack or breakfast.  Addison loves to use it with this Pina Colada mix.  You just add ice and press the lid down to blend!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Capri Blue Candle – My love for this candle runs DEEP and I have more than I dared photograph!  But you all knew that. ;)  This candle and this candle are my favorites for Christmas!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

My Amazing Blow Dry Secret &  Rose Glow Brightening Balm – These are the two things I seem to be reaching for every single morning!  My favorite dry shampoo (so great for adding volume and life!) and the Tula Brightening Balm is the best for brightening dark circles and puffiness under your eyes.  Perfect for bloggers who stay up way too late writing about favorite things and their eyes tell the story the next day. ;)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner – my all time favorite shampoo/conditioner after trying what felt like hundreds!  The set I linked would be a perfect Christmas gift because it comes with some of the Moroccan oil too.  I love using the oil when I straighten my hair.

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

T3 Curling Iron Set  &  T3 Cura Hair Dryer – I can’t talk about hair care without mentioning my all time favorite curling iron and blow dryer.  Once you’ve used T3 beauty tools you won’t want to stop!  I love the curling iron set with different barrel sizes because I use all three of them and I prefer the curling iron over the wand.  Just my personal preference!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

The Compound Effect –  You guys!  This is my favorite book from 2019!  And I read so many.  I actually should say I listened to so many because I drive my kids around for 88% of my day.  Audible and podcasts have become my best friends. :)  I’m a sucker for time management/motivational books and I heard this was good, but the title (jumpstart your income, life, success) made me wonder if I would like it or not.  Oh my word.. I LOVED it!  I don’t think a book has ever motivated me so much in my life!  And it’s really not about making money (I feel like the title is misleading!).  It’s just about how the smallest choices we make can compound over time and have such a huge impact.   It’s about gratitude, living your life to the fullest, taking responsibility for everything in your life, setting good habits, etc.  I feel like everyone should read this book.  I’m making my kids listen to a few of the chapters!  And I made my husband read it and now my parents are reading it so we can discuss it over Thanksgiving break.  Because I’m nerdy like that. ;)  Just trust me.. read it!  And then tell me what you think. :)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Ugg Slippers & Chunky Wool & Jute Rug –  I LIVE in these slippers!  Honestly the coziest to slip on in the house.  I stocked up for gifts.  They come in lots of cute colors!  My family room rug is also a favorite!  I know if you read my blog you’re sick of hearing about it, but I can’t let a favorites post go by without mentioning it.  If you’re new to my blog and haven’t heard me go on and on about it yet, you can read more about it here.

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

I have the same rug in my dining room!  I love it THAT much. :)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

(ribbed sweater/Madewell tote/AG jeans (on sale!)/similar boots/flocked tree)

Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Circle Cardigan – If you aren’t going to get the Barefoot dreams blanket at least consider the cardigan!  It’s the coziest article of clothing you’ll ever own!  I have two of them (olive and stone) but there are so many fun shades to chose from.  I dress them up with jeans, but most of the time I wear them with pjs at home, or to run to the grocery store over my workout clothes or over my pjs to drop kids off at school.  You won’t want to take it off!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Simplicity, Patina Farm, Platters and Boards, The Gift of GatheringThe Home Edit

I love coffee table books!  I love to display them in my home and using them to decorate.  I also love a cozy evening at home flipping through a beautiful and inspiring book!  These 5 books are my favorites from Oct-Feb and each one would make a beautiful gift for someone who loves decorating, entertaining or organizing.  I’ll take them all thank you very much. :)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

(Fall Kitchen)

Cutting boards – Couldn’t love them more!  They are always in my decor and I use them every time I entertain.

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Wooden Dough Bowls – I also love dough bowls for decorating and the set I linked is a long time favorite!  I have each of the 3 sizes and there are endless possibilities of how you can use them in your home.

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

The dough bowl on the bottom left is the smallest size in that set and the one I use the most often.  I have several of them and no two look exactly alike!

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Baskets – Baskets are another beloved item in my home and this set of Moroccan Woven Baskets is my all time favorite!  They are such perfect sizes and look beautiful next to a couch or chair or on a shelf.  The smallest size is perfect to hold some flowers or a plant or random items in your office.  I love giving them as gifts to friends.  Everyone can use a good basket. :)

2019 Favorite Things (Sunny Side Up)

Well!  I could certainly come up with more but I think I’ve covered most of my tried and true favorite things from 2019.  So much fun.  I would love to hear about a favorite on your list this year!

You can see the complete list of everyone who is sharing favorite things here on Melissas’s blog.  So many fun gift ideas!

Happy holiday planning, shopping, decorating and celebrating everyone!

Our Cozy Neutral Snowflake Christmas Tree

*affiliate links are used below
Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

First tree is up and decorated!  We cleared our schedules, put on Christmas pj’s, blasted our Christmas music and got to work!  I look forward to our annual tree decorating party every year. :)  A few years ago my kids got upset because my perfectionism got the best of me and I “tweaked” our tree the day after we all decorated it.  (Guilty as charged.)  So last year we decorated the tree together and the day (and weeks) after I didn’t touch a thing.  Our reindeer Christmas tree stayed perfectly intact exactly how they decorated it.

This year was a different story!

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

{My striped joggers (so cozy and back in stock!), UGG slippers, Kole’s beloved robe}

We decided to try something new this year and create a mostly neutral tree.  Half way through our tree decorating we were all just laughing.  It looked AWFUL!  We kept adding things after Kenny snapped these pictures and it was like the more stuff we put on it.. the worse it looked.  Finally after over an hour of tree decorating my kids were all saying “mom.. can you just fix this tree tomorrow?  Do something else with it?  Can you make it better?”  I told them the tree could be saved!  We just had to keep working at it!  Never give up!  El said “good luck mom.. I need to go shower.”  Ad said “Love you mom, but this tree is sad.. I’m going upstairs to finish my homework.”  And Kole said “Can I turn on Goosebumps or do I have to go to bed?  If it’s bedtime I’ll keep decorating the tree.”

Oh how times have changed. ;)  We all called it a night and the next day (with my kids’ blessing!) I spent some time re-working our tree and came up with this..

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

I call it our “cozy neutral snowflake tree” and when the kids came home from school the next day and saw it they were so impressed.  Not that the decor is that amazing, but if you would have seen the “before” when we finished you’d know that this is definitely an improvement!  Ha.  To be honest, I really like our tree this year but I don’t LOVE it.  I miss the red!  I know it will feel better when I get the shelves and the rest of this room decorated, but this completely neutral Christmas tree is totally out of my comfort zone and I’m still adjusting!

Change is good right?  Maybe? :)

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

I absolutely love everything I put on the tree.  These are all favorite ornaments!  I just keep feeling like I need a pop of red in there somewhere. :)  A few ornaments are new, but a lot of them are ornaments I’ve had and used on other past trees.  If you’ve been with me for a while you probably recognize some of them!  This year I added the fun wood bead garland, this beautiful jeweled snowflake tree topper (I also ordered 5 of the jeweled snowflake ornaments that match and will add those as soon as they get here) and I added the adorable snowy house ornaments!

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

The house ornaments are my favorite because they have a round hole cut out in the bottom so you can set them on one of your tree lights and it lights up the little house.  Could they be any more charming!?  I love them. :)

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

My chunky knit tree skirt is also new this year and works so perfectly with my “cozy knit snowflake” theme.

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

Of course Christmas trees look the most amazing at night!  This creme, white and silver tree has such a calm feeling to it.. I’ve loved having it on in the evenings.

Christmas Tree Decorating (Sunny Side Up)

{Chunky Wool Jute Rug}

*For those of you asking questions about our family room rug I wrote more details about it HERE}

So pretty!  Like I said.. it’s very neutral and I’m still adjusting to a tree with no red!  But overall it’s a fun change and I know some greenery and decor on my shelves will help pull it together for me.

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

It’s definitely working well with the fireplace decor I’ve got going so far!  (Details on how I attached this garland and mantel sources are in this post if you missed it!)  I’m still debating adding a few pops of red with other pillows/accessories.  We’ll see!  I keep getting distracted with other spaces and need to just finish this one.

I’ve included as many sources as I could find for this tree at the end of my post!  A few of them are similar items that would give you the same look if something I have is sold out.

Just for fun here is a look back at past years that I’ve decorated this same tree with my kids.  Such a fun tradition.  Do you decorate a tree with your kids every year?

Ad dropped and broke an ornament right when this picture was taken and it’s one of my favorites because of the look on her face!

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (and other fun updates!)

*affiliate links below
How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

{How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel}

Ok.. this is totally an “in progress” picture.  My mantel isn’t quite finished, but I’m loving the direction it’s headed!  I wasn’t going to post a pic of it yet, but when I shared a few progress clips on IG stories I got so many questions that I thought it would be easier to just explain how I got this look here on my blog.  Seriously doesn’t this greenery look SO real!?  I could not be more impressed with it.  It’s this faux cedar garland but it unfortunately sold out!  Below are some other beautiful garland options that I love!

First question: “How many garlands did you use to create this look?”  I used five!  But remember.. this fireplace mantel in my family room is HUGE.  It’s so big.  Too big!  I always struggle to decorate it.  For a standard mantel I would recommend buying at least two garlands so that they can meet in the middle and drape off the sides.  I would buy three if you want to lay one more on top to give it a fuller look like I did.

Second question: “How did you attach the garlands to hang like this?”

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

I used white command hooks that support 5 pounds (larger hooks just to be safe!) and green vine twist ties.

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

I snapped some quick cell phone pics tonight to show you!  I used three of the command hooks and placed them on the top of my mantle towards the front.  One in the middle and one close to each end of the mantel.  *Sidenote.. my candles looked too short so I set them on a cutting board to elevate them!  I told you this huge mantel is tricky for me. ;)

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

I just laid the first two garlands across the mantel (they met in the middle and draped off the sides), but the second two garlands I wanted to hang down a little lower so I used the command hooks to hold them.  (Then I obviously covered the white command hooks with greenery.. easy to hide!)

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

Then I used the green twist ties to tie the two garlands together in a couple of spots.  After the four garlands were attached, I laid one more across the top to give it an even fuller look.

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

{Brass Candle Holders/Similar Stockings/Flameless Wax Candles/Faux Cedar Garland/Wood Bead Garland}

I love how it turned out!  And I know.  Buying multiple garlands is pricey (I have a few more I’m adding in another room!), but I feel like for me they were such a great investment.  Now I can use them them year after year in different ways.  I can decorate for Christmas three months early if I want!  And keep it all up through February!  Not that I would.. but it doesn’t sound half bad. ;)

How to attach garland to a fireplace mantel (Sunny Side Up)

This pic above is of my stairs about 4 years ago at Christmas with real garland.  I LOVE the look of real greenery but HATE the mess.  I just can’t handle the dry needles all over the place two weeks later!  Drives me crazy.  This was the last year I messed with it and I’ve been looking for good faux options ever since.  This faux cedar garland is the answer to my Christmas greenery prayers.  Ha. ;)

(Btw.. I always hang our past Christmas cards on my stairs.  A fun tradition some of you might remember I started years ago!  You can see more details about it in this post.)

In other fun holiday news I got our guest bedroom Christmas sheets on and still love this look I created last year for our guests!  My cute reindeer sheets were from PB but I found almost identical sheets for such a great price!  I also found some other fun Christmas sheets on-line I’ll link below.  I’m in love with these little green pine tree sheets and debating them for Kole’s room this year!

Kenny and I grabbed some Mexican food and enjoyed an un-interrupted conversation that will hopefully sustain us until we can talk again next Saturday night.  Sad but true!  We are going a million miles a minute in this stage of life with our kids.  I know many of you can relate!  But it’s all good because LIGHTS ARE UP ON THE PALM TREES!  It’s officially Christmas in San Diego.  Christmas lights on the Palm Trees and a fun dinner with my husband.  Those are the two things that are going on my gratitude card for today. :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Thanksgiving Day Table and Ideas

*affiliate links used
Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Want to know what I’m grateful for?  That it’s Friday. :)  We made it to the end of the week!  I hope it was a good one for you!  I have to say that I’m a tad on the tired side.  I think all of the Christmas decorating in-between all of the every day life stuff wore me right out this week.  Very excited about an upcoming slow Saturday morning to recover!  I’m also excited to get our gratitude jar back in action again.  I pulled it out today and we’re going to write down things we are grateful for during the rest of the month and read them at Thanksgiving.  This has become such a fun tradition!  I found two other cute inexpensive gratitude jar options here and here if you want to start this with your family.  I always tell my kids to not write down the standard big things (health, family, etc.).  Obviously important to be grateful for those things, but I want them to really think about something unique and specific that stood out to them during the day.  I’m hoping this forces them to LOOK for little things to be grateful for each day.  Those small moments of gratitude are there if they just look. :)

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Anyone else get to Thanksgiving and have a plethora of pumpkins hanging around?  In past years I’ve taken the pumpkins off of my Fall mantel, porch, etc. and made a fun tablescape with them.  I’ve done this for Thanksgiving dinner when we’ve stayed home and on the years we were traveling for Thanksgiving I just had a fun Fall lunch with girl friends!

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

I order and pick up salads and soup and nobody seems to notice that I didn’t spend hours baking because the table looks so cute and cozy.  My trade secret. ;)

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

I thought I’d share this fun tablescape again if any of you are planning on hosting Thanksgiving or a random Fall lunch/dinner.  All sources are at the bottom of the post and most items including my favorite Fall placemats are on sale!

Another trade secret of mine?  I’ve gotten really good at making store bought desserts look homemade.  I’m seriously known thoughout the land in our area as having the best “homemade” chocolate chip cookies ever.  My girls’ friends think I’m amazing!  Hello.. they are Toll House!  I just pop store bought dough in my oven and bam.  I’m a legend.  I told one of Ellie’s friends once when she was raving about my cookies that they were just Toll House and she said “well we’ve made those before at our house and they don’t taste as good as yours do..”  Ha.  That’s because I serve them on a cute plate.

It’s all about the presentation my friends. ;)

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Here’s another quick and easy store bought dessert that I’ve shared before.

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Pour hot fudge over a cheesecake…

Then chop up nuts and Reeces to place on top!

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Wa-la!  Looks fancy right?  Takes 5 minutes.  You could get technical and make your own cheesecake.. but why?

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Love always, chef Erin.

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

I rounded up some fun things below to help make your Thanksgiving feel extra special this year!  Most of these items are on sale right now and I’ve ordered some for our Thanksgiving meal.  Bring on the family, food, cozy pjs and Hallmark Christmas specials!  Can’t wait. :)

Thanksgiving Day Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

1 – Cutest Turkey Salt and Pepper Shakers!

2 – I love this antique silver serving platter for the turkey or other special dishes.. on sale for such a steal right now!

3 – These Fall napkins are beautiful and come highly recommended!  I also love this cute set.

4 – My pumpkin plates are on sale!  I shared them in this post if you want a closer look.

5 – I love this set of gold flatware (gold is so beautiful for a Thanksgiving table!).  This set also looks like a great option.

6 – This “Turkey on the Table” book and activity set is darling!  Another fun way to start a Thanksgiving tradition sharing gratitude.  Would be especially fun on a table with young kids. :)

7 – I just ordered a set of these fun Fall Thanksgiving placemats!  So cute because they have different activities for the kids plus they can write what they are grateful for and color them.  I’m always in charge of setting the table and entertaining kids while the rest of the adults in our family help my mom cook Thanksgiving dinner.  No idea why.. ;)  but these will be perfect to entertain cousins while we are waiting to eat.

8 – Love this turkey serving bowl for soup or gravy!

9 – Another fun thankful jar option.  I love this one with paper leafs to write on too!

10 – These rose gold mercury glass pumpkins are on major markdown and so are these cute faux pumpkins I always display in my kitchen!

Fall Wrap Up

Ok.. massive picture dump today! I feel like I have so much to share with you all lately my head might explode. FUN decorating is happening at my house for Christmas at the moment and I can’t wait to share it all with you soon! But first I have some pics from the past two weeks to share.  A trip, some fun home decor, a little fashion, a great cookie recipe. Basically I’m all over the place in this one so you’ve been warned. ;)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

Back track quickly to Halloween.  I asked Kole what he wanted to dress up as and he told me “I wish I could just wear my robe and be comfy all day.”  (If that doesn’t give away that he belongs to me I don’t know what does! Ha. I honestly LOVE the recent time change for that very reason!  I can put on my pjs even earlier.)  I told him we could totally make that happen and went on a costume hunt looking for anything that would work with a black and red checkered robe!

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

{Fall Porch}

So happy late Halloween from the Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood and .. her grandpa?  Our fairytale is tweaked ever so slightly. ;)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

Love the outtakes from our quick 2 minute photo shoot.  Let’s just adjust that mustache.

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

Kole could not stop laughing at Kenny’s wolf costume!  My girls were cracking up at it too.. the nose on it was just funny looking.  This man is such a good sport.

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

I was thrilled when I found costumes that went with his beloved robe so perfectly!

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

Do you all remember when I gave this to him last year before Christmas?  He has honestly LIVED in it for the past year.  It’s so funny to me that he loves it so much!  But I get it.  Softest robe ever!

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

I put in a dedicated hook for it in his bedroom between his closet and bathroom.  :)  I also bought him the same robe in another fun pattern to give him this year for Christmas.  It’s this Tucker an Tate Hooded Plush Robe and it’s honestly so soft and warm and cozy.  Read the reviews and you’ll see why Kole is obsessed with his!  I’m loving the patterns they came out with for girls this year too!  If my girls were younger I’d be giving them the pink buffalo check or the red Christmas tree robe for Christmas.  FUN gift idea if you have little kids!

This pic of my kids watching Rudolph is a favorite from last year. :)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

We made a quick trip to SLC the weekend before Halloween to surprise my sister’s husband for his 40th birthday.  It was so funny!  My sister told him and the kids that there would be an activity Saturday morning so they didn’t plan anything else.. something that would take the whole day.  They kept asking questions.. “Do we need to wear certain clothes?  Will it be cold?  Will we like it?”  My sister was laughing because they were all dreading this “activity” she had planned!  Our flight left San Diego at 4 am so we got to her house around 9:30 and they were all still in pjs.  She told them to head to the mailbox to see dad’s gift before they got dressed for the “activity” and we were all waiting at the mail box!  Too much fun!  They kids were SO excited when they saw us.. jumping up and down and Shawn was cracking up when I yelled “Surprise!  We’re the activity!”  We have so much fun with my sister and her family and loved surprising them!  We had a fun day planned.

First a quick trip to Gardner’s Village.  The weather was beautiful during the day!  Crisp and cold and the leaves in SLC are stunning this time of year.  Got to wear my new favorite sweater I shared in my last post. :)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

We go to Gardner’s Village to see all of the witches at the witch festival!  My kids have fun memories of this activity every Fall when we visit my sister and her family.

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

They have a fun scavenger hunt for kids to see how many witches you can find (they are all the place and dressed up so funny).  We ate and shopped and enjoyed some fun Fall activities and then went to my sister’s house.

Then that evening we gave Shawn our gift.. tickets for everyone to go to the football game.  Go UTES!  This was supposed to be a party for Shawn after all. :)

Game was fun but I FROZE to death.  It got so cold and San Diego has made me a cold weather wimp!  This pic made me laugh because my eyes look like they are glazed over.  I was struggling.. ha!  I love my green coat but I need something warmer this year.  Below are the coats I’ve been looking at and considering!

The next morning it snowed!  So much fun!  My kids were loving it.

It melted fast but was such a fun way to end our time in SLC!  We let the kids all hang out together at the house and the 4 of us got lunch together before it was time to leave.  A quick trip but so worth it!  We wish we all lived closer to each other but have learned we just have to prioritize time together like this throughout the year.

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

I snapped some pics of my sister’s house quick with my phone while I was there.. it was so cute and cozy for Fall!

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

Her style is a little different from mine.. more modern and moody.. but I love it!

Happy 40th Shawn!  I actually brought my sister and her husband together years ago.  Cute story for another day.. they forever owe me. ;)

Car and I spent a lot of time sitting here in front of her cozy fireplace catching up!  I love how she had a seat made for it and added pillows!  It’s so inviting.  Thinking I want to do that for mine because our marble is so cold and hard to sit on.

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

She had her Halloween pics on a string in front of her kitchen window and I loved it!  Such a fun idea!  This would be a cute way to also display Christmas pictures or cards this season.

Ok.. totally switching gears because this random post isn’t long enough. ;)  Addison and I made some pumpkin cookies and they were so quick and easy!  Thought I’d share the recipe quick if you’re interested.  Ad has a severe egg allergy so baked good are usually a hard NO for her.  (Makes birthday parties rough!)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

This pumpkin cookie recipe has only THREE ingredients and no eggs!  Right up our alley. :)

Fall Wrap Up (Sunny Side Up)

They didn’t bake quite as fluffy without the eggs and vanilla but still tasted really good considering!  If you don’t have egg allergy issues in your family I’d try this pumpkin cookie recipe below.  They are delicious and still so easy! (We followed this minus the egg and vanilla.)

  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1 15 oz can of pumpkin puree
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • chocolate chips (the more the better) ;)

*Bake at 375° for 10 or so minutes.

Ok.. last but not least I’ve had so many questions lately coming in about artificial Christmas trees!  I get mine all over.  I’ve had trees from Balsam Hill, Wayfair, Pottery Barn, Home Depot, Tai Pan, etc.  I rounded up a few that look amazing below if you’re looking for a new tree this year!

Enjoy your day!  I’m off to finish adding greenery to my mantel.. it’s looking so pretty!  Can’t wait to share it soon. :)

Happy November friends!  Let’s get this party started!  I spent Friday and Saturday taking down most of my Fall decor.  Good-bye sweet bats!  Enjoy that all important meeting. ;)

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Then it was time.  Finally time!  Time to turn on my Christmas music, light my favorite Fir candle and bring all of the REALLY fun stuff out. :)  I was pulling out new Christmas items and old favorites I’m using to decorate with this year and thought I’d snap a few pictures of the new items you’ll see popping up in my decor this year.  Some of these items are selling out and some are on sale this weekend so I wanted to get this up fast for you!  I know a lot of people like to hold off Christmas decorating until after Thanksgiving, but I feel like more and more people are decorating early this year!  Have any of you noticed that?  Especially with Thanksgiving falling so late in November.  I’ve been decorating for Christmas right after Halloween my whole married life (20+ years) so I’m happy to see it’s starting to become more common.

Makes me feel a little less crazy. ;)

Anyone else getting an early start?  Here are a few items I’m really excited about this year that won’t last long!

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

I found some cozy cream Ugg stockings marked down last year after Christmas and can’t find identical socks on-line but these stockings are very similar!  So are these stockings.  I have to say that I love so many things in Rachel Parcell’s new Christmas collection!  Especially the Bobble Knit items. :)  I splurged on this beautiful chunky knit tree skirt to go with my stockings and it’s marked down this weekend!  I also picked up this fun striped red pop pom throw to match my red striped stockings.  These similar red striped stockings are on sale this weekend too!

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Of course my favorite fa-la-la banner will be back in full force. :)  I’m also so excited about these beautiful marble and gold stocking holders and they just sold out!  Target has some that are similar and PB has a beautiful all gold set.  I’m using this fun wood bead garland on my family room tree this year and might combine it with another garland.. still playing around with that!

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Ok.. you guys!  This faux cedar garland is honestly the closest I’ve seen to the real deal!  I’m using it in several spots this year.  I got mine at Nordstrom and it sold out crazy fast, but I found the exact same garland at Anthro!  I have a feeling it won’t last long there either so don’t hesitate if you want it.  I would recommend at least two for most fireplace mantels, tables, etc.  It’s 6 feet long but always looks best having some hanging down over each of the sides. :)  The cute OH DEER mat I also bought at Nordstrom sold out too!  Like yesterday.  But I found it on Amazon for you guys so all is well.  For a few days anyway. ;)  I’m using more white on my family room tree this year and picked up some of these adorable snowy house ornaments.  Two styles have sold out but one is still in stock!  Also this adorable house that lights up is back in stock (I used it on my living room mantel last year).

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

A few of my favorite trees!  This Pre-Lit Alpine tree is small but the branches are so realistic!   I’m also so excited to use these Pre-lit Snowy Pine Trees.  They are just beautiful all lit up.  And last but not least, these Light Up Birch Trees are on sale this weekend!  I bought them a few years ago when they first came out and loved them so much that I picked up a few more last year.  I have fun plans for them again.. they are favorites for sure!

So those are new favorites you’ll see in my home this year!  I know most of these items will be gone in a week so I thought I’d give you all a sneak peek now. :)

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

I’m also using these beautiful Eucalyptus wreaths again.  So pretty hanging with some festive holiday ribbon!

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

And I’m going to use this pretty Mercury Garland in a few new spots too.  I ordered more after using it last year because it was so beautiful!

Favorite Christmas Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Also I had so many of you sending messages and e-mails about how bummed you were that my new red plaid rug sold out!  I had a feeling it wouldn’t last long!  I did some digging and found it on-line in two other stores.  You can also order it here at Birch Lane, or here at Wayfair.

Act fast and you’re welcome. ;)

I was going to share this pic in my next post but this beautiful Puff Sleeve sweater I’m loving is also selling out in some sizes and it’s so cute for the holidays!  It comes in lots of colors but you all knew I’d snag the green. :)  I told you I’m especially obsessed with all things bobble knit at the moment!  The sleeves are so fun and it’s honestly so comfortable and warm and just a great fit. Trust me on this one.  You’ll love this sweater!  I know you will. :)

Happy holiday decorating, planning, shopping or whatever it is you’re doing to prepare for the next two months!  I’ll be jumping back to all things Thanksgiving at some point but for now.. Michael Bublé and I are glued at the hip. (Sorry Kenny.. I’ll be back into you after the holidays.)  ;)
