Kitchen Styling (Sunny Side Up)

{heart door garland/heart tree garland/red plaid rug/heart home mat/cypress trees/baskets}

Valentine’s Day is a week away! Sending some love your way. ;) Our porch is feeling festive for February. I used the same decor as last year and while I’m always sad to say good-bye to my winter trees I’m excited for an early spring porch re-fresh at the end of this month!

Can I make a confession since we’re talking about the current state of my porch?

Kitchen Styling (Sunny Side Up)

I still have my reindeer up. My friends who have stopped by have been laughing and giving me a hard time about them. Ha. My reindeer are still up not because of laziness but because I’m just not ready to take them down. I said to Kole the other day pulling in from school..

“What do you think bud? Should we take the Christmas reindeer down now that it’s February?”

“I don’t know.. I kind of like them.”

“I like them too.. let’s leave them up a little longer.”

We smiled watching their twinkling lights quite pleased with our decision and then pulled into the garage.

Every year after the holidays there is usually one thing I’m not ready to take down that I leave up until March. Sometimes it’s a Christmas tree. One year it was my kids’ Santa pictures on the wall. This year it’s the reindeer.

I’m tricky like that.

I know you’re all fascinated by this story and so sad that it’s time to move on..

Kitchen Styling (Sunny Side Up)

{set of two woven trays/sandy terracotta vase/olive branches/gold mirror vanity tray}

I’ve been focusing on getting my home organized lately so I haven’t done much decorating, but I did style my favorite olive branches with a few different vases for fun! I can’t decide which look I love best because all of these vases are so good. I got this set of two woven trays for Christmas and they are gorgeous! This is the smaller tray on my island and I have the larger tray on my kitchen table. I tried different heart bowls but like the way this gold mirror vanity tray looks best.

Kitchen Styling (Sunny Side Up)

{porcelain white bowl/large wooden heart bowl/medium wooden heart bowl/white wash heart bowl/heart shaped cutting board/gold mirror vanity tray/heart tray with gold lining}

I shared it earlier with these cute heart bowl options. Bring on the holiday candy! Cadbury eggs will be here before we know it. A dangerous thought for both me and my jeans.

Kitchen Styling (Sunny Side Up)

{minka textured pot/set of two woven trays/olive branches/gold mirror vanity tray/hanover kitchen pendants}

This is option #2! Same arrangement but with my beloved minka textured pot. Did you know this fun pot now comes in large sizes big enough for plants? It comes in black now too. Be still my heart.

{set of two woven trays/tall terracotta vase/olive branches/gold mirror vanity tray/hanover kitchen pendants}

And option 3 with this beautiful tall terracotta vase. I shared this earlier in the collage below. It looks like a vase from PB for twice its price. GO Target. Do you have a favorite of the 3 vases styled this way?

1- gingham table runner   2- gold flatware   3- tall vase

4- white vase   5- dinner plates   6- olive leaf arrangement

7- natural plate charger   8- tall tumblers   9-jute runner

In other news there are still a few sizes left in this beautiful heart sweater on sale!

    {puff sleeve sweater/ugg slippers}

Also I shared this top in my last post and got some questions about my lip color! I’ve been asked that before so thought I would just share it on the blog. It’s all Mac – a long time favorite combo I came up with and have loved for years. :)

Lip liner: Mac “Plum”

Lip stick: Mac “Hug Me”

Lip gloss: Mac Lipglass “Nymphette” – my all time favorite gloss! I also have and love “Oyster Girl” for a more neutral gloss. I guess that shade went viral on social media and has been a hit ever since! The colors look different on than they do when you look at the color on-line (Oyster Girl looks so pink on-line but is actually a neutral that blends with your lipstick and mostly adds shine).

If you were only going to buy one item I would go for the Mac Lipglass! It’s so pretty in every shade.. you really can’t go wrong.

Reindeer approved!

They are tricky like that.

{puff sleeve sweater/ugg slippers/Walli Phone Cases – 15% off with this link & code sunny at checkout}

Happy Sunday! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! We’ve had a busy week and I’ve been project focused! Getting lots done around here and it feels so good. I’ll share updates soon! I’m especially excited about getting some of my closets in order. I’m slower to share progress from my organizing challenge here on the blog because I’m doing it real time with you so progress is coming. I also had the opportunity to share organizing tips at a church activity last week so I’ll share those soon too! Always a good night when organizing is the topic of choice. :) This sweater is a new favorite (so cute and I love the sleeves!). We only had one day last week that it was warm enough to wear it. I’m clearly getting anxious for spring!

Speaking of spring.. I landed in PB after returning something at the mall (crazy how that just seems to happen right?) and they had so many cute things! This first collage is basically my wish list this spring (other than the drink ware collection I already have and the light fixture similar to mine – love them both!).

Or just vegging out in front of the TV in sweats all day?

I’ll probably be somewhere in-between because I’m all about balance.

And scallop bowls and bunny sherpa pillows.

All Things Heart! (Decor & Snacks)

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{red heart spoon rest/pink heart spoon rest}

Happy Friday! Sharing ALL the hearts today! Which is kind of funny because when I was young I didn’t like hearts. Ask my mom.. I was always kind of anti heart. Ha. I didn’t like hearts on my clothes or jewelry or toys or anywhere really. Then I had kids and my girls LOVED Valentine’s Day and they wanted hearts on everything.

I guess somewhere along the way they grew on me. :)

Isn’t this spoon rest cute!? I’ve been loving it and wondering how I’ve been living w/o a spoon rest for so long! It comes in a pink too and when I went to order it for spring I saw both had sold out at Nordstrom. I did a little digging and found them on Amazon! Same price but both still in stock. Then I went down a rabbit hole looking at other cute spoon rests and there went my focused work time. Oops. One of my goals this year is not getting sidetracked during work hours. It’s an issue! Obviously there’s still some improvement needed in that area. :) But aren’t these spoon rests cute!?

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{Walli Phone Cases – 15% off with this link and type the code sunny at checkout!}

I got a new iPhone for Christmas and ordered these two cases. Black hearts I’m especially loving and the other case is the same as my last case on my previous phone. I love the pattern so much I wanted it again! These cases are my favorite because of the finger loop and the spot for a credit card or two! So handy when I don’t want to take my whole purse. I love them when we are traveling too because I use the pocket for our room card! Then I always have it with me and we don’t lose it. If you’re looking for a new phone case you can get 15% off any Walli case using my link and the code sunny!   They come in so many cute colors and patterns. I’m a fan!

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{heart sweater}

I could not love this sweater more! It sold out so fast at Nordstrom but I found it here already marked down and then an additional 70% off with code YOURPICK. Such a steal for this beautiful sweater!

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Here it is with a little front tuck. Cute either way! It fits true to size (this is xs). Kenny and I have dinner plans with some friends for Valentine’s Day and I’m excited to wear it!

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{kitchen sources}

I had fun playing around with my heart bowls this week!

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Here are some fun ideas if you or your kids are having friends over in February! I love throwing together treats like this for a family movie night too. Or date night! I’ve been collecting cute heart bowls for a while now and they make it so easy. Just add pink and red candy and cookies and you’re ready to party.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{porcelain white bowl}

I bought this cute porcelain white bowl in a set of two. There are so many fun ways to use them. Especially perfect for our stand-by favorite of popcorn and m&m’s. :)

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{large wooden heart bowl/medium wooden heart bowl/white wash heart bowl}

Wooden bows always look good holding treats and they can double as cute decor on coffee tables, end tables and the kitchen island. I linked 3 of my favorites above! (These will all be linked at the end of my post too!)

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{heart shaped cutting board}

This little heart shaped cutting board is the cutest! Perfect for a few cookies and some candy.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

 {gold mirror vanity tray}

I love this gold mirror vanity tray too. I’ve been using it in my kitchen but it would also be beautiful in a bathroom holding perfume or jewelry.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{heart tray with gold lining}

Love the gold lining in this little tray/bowl! I’ve got snacks DOWN. Not so healthy snacks..

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

{fridge organization}

and healthy snacks. They are my thing. Full on meals? Not so much. Can’t we just live on strawberries and yogurt and popcorn and chocolate kisses? That will be my meal plan when I have no kids at home! I’m going to lay my ovens to rest (they’ve never liked me anyway) and carry on with my snacks. ;)

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{faux fur heart shaped rug}

Hearts are popping up in my bathrooms too per usual this time of year. :) Here is that cute pink heart rug I shared earlier. So fuzzy and soft to step on! I used my favorite rug  pad grippers to hold it in place.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

I’m just torn on pink..

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{white faux fur heart shaped rug}

or white this year! Which is your favorite? I like the pop of color with the pink but the white adds an elegant vibe. Definitely one of the more fun decisions to make in life right?

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

My favorite tassel towels are on sale this weekend! (Everything at Serena & Lily is 20% off!) They are so beautiful and come in a white and blue too.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{cherry blossoms/white terracotta vase/pitcher option/eucalyptus and sage candle/marble coaster/similar round rattan tray here/here}

I styled my Amazon cherry blossoms in this white terracotta vase and love the way they look in this space! I like the white/light pink shade of flowers for this time of year. Ready for spring but not quite spring but thinking about spring.

Did I mention I’m ready for spring?

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{woven tissue cover/woven soap pump/similar marble pedestal here/here/tassel towels}

This cute woven tissue cover and woven soap pump complete the look! I bought those in August when we were styling Ellie’s dorm so now every time I see them I think of that week! Makes me smile because we were living on Chick-fil-A and made 15 Target runs together. Ha.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

On a sidenote.. I landed on this post about El leaving for college the other day and re-read all of your sweet comments. I think I’ve read them all 5 or 6 times now! I wasn’t able to respond to all of them but I can’t tell you how much your uplifting words meant to me during that first season with her gone. They still mean a lot to me today! It’s so nice as a mom to just know you’re not alone with the hard feelings. :) Thank you for your constant friendship, kindness and support!

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

Well! That wraps up the bathroom tour. I didn’t mean to get all sappy. Blaming it on the heart rugs.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{cozy love pajama top/cozy love pajama bottoms/ugg slippers}

I’ll be back soon with some fun weekend finds! Planning on living in these pjs all weekend.

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{women’s fleece lounge sweatshirt/women’s fleece lounge jogger pants/ugg slippers}

Unless I’m wearing these. (The heart top came back in stock in some sizes!)

Heart Decor (Sunny Side Up)

{women’s fleece lounge sweatshirt/women’s fleece lounge jogger pants/ugg slippers}

Or this same pair in green. I’m pretty covered in pajamas! Just ask my husband. With so many options out there he’s thrilled about my selection of Valentine’s sleepwear.

Could I BE wearing anymore clothes!?

Ha ha..

Who am I quoting? One of my favorite episodes. ;)

Fridge Organization

*This post is sponsored by Walmart and affiliate links are used. All product selections and opinions are my own! :)

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

We are organizing our kitchens this week! How is it going!? I didn’t have much time Monday or Tuesday but I’m definitely going to find an hour today to tidy some drawers and cupboards. I’ll share my progress soon! Let’s kick things off with fridge organization because that is a hot spot in most kitchens! It’s a space that constantly needs to be maintained and I’ve really struggled to keep mine organized. You might remember last summer when my fridge looked like this. Yikes. It usually isn’t this bad, but with kids home and travel it was a mess for months! I knew I needed a better system in general and finally figured out something that works.

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Phew! Remember this before and after!? SO MUCH better. Part of the reason I have struggled to keep my fridge organized is because our fridge shelves are shallow and a lot of organizers don’t fit and work. I ordered these clear containers from the Home Edit collection at Walmart (love their products!) and you guys.. I have been obsessed ever since! Honestly they have been the best solution for our fridge!

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

I started in the summer with a combination of these narrow bins and these food storage containers and couldn’t love them more! They come in 3 different sizes and all stack so nicely on top of each other. The lids seal so tight and I love that they are so narrow! Perfect to save space in a fridge or pantry. You can buy this 3 piece set with one of each size OR buy them in groups separately which is what I did. You can order a pack of 4 large canisters, a pack of 4 medium canisters, and/or a pack of 6 small canisters.

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Has my fridge stayed organized since this little summer makeover? Honestly while it doesn’t always look THIS perfect, yes! These organizers have been a game changer for me. It takes a little more time right after a grocery store run and if I’m busy right when I get home, I’ll pull out organizers that are empty or need to be rinsed out and set them by the sink, toss our groceries in the fridge and then when I have 20 minutes later in the day I’ll wash produce and put everything inside of the containers. It’s so worth it to me to take time to do this! Not only because my fridge looks clean and organized (which I love!) but because we all make healthier choices when snacks are washed and cut and ready to eat. Plus I can fit a lot more food in my fridge when it’s organized like this.

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

{bento box food storage container/pack of 2 large food storage containers/pack of 3 medium food storage containers}

I’ve been so happy with these organizers that I couldn’t wait to order the new options Home Edit released! They now have large and medium clear containers (perfect for meals/leftovers) and my personal favorite.. a bento box container! SO GOOD. I’ve shared before how I like to prep healthy snacks to grab when I’m working or going to be in my car for a while. I usually add a hard boiled egg, turkey and some fruits and veggies. On busy days it’s my lunch! They are perfect for my kids to grab to eat after school too. I usually make a few without eggs for Ad. :) #allergies  Over the weekend I made a grocery run and got these snacks ready. I added yogurt with blueberries and strawberries in one too. Here are the containers with lids off.

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

And with lids on and sealed! Ready to be stacked in the fridge.

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

{bento box food storage container/pack of 2 large food storage containers/pack of 3 medium food storage containers}

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

I took this picture the day after I got food ready and my crew had already eaten a lot of the food in the large containers so they are looking a little empty. Ha. The large size holds a lot of food!

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

{egg containers}

Looks like I need to go back to the grocery store for some new ketchup! :)  Confession: I have been very anti egg organizer in the past. I’ve always thought it was so dumb to transfer eggs to a clear container because you need to be able to see the expiration date. Also I don’t like to organize JUST to make my home pretty. I want my home to be functional overall! Functional and pretty. :) But I finally caved and bought this set of 2 clear containers because my boys have been eating more eggs in general and with these organizers I can keep them in our fridge door stacked! It saves so much space because the eggs we’ve been buying at Costco come in a large, bulky container that just takes up too much precious space in my fridge. The eggs on the top right are separated because they have been boiled. I added a little sticker on the side and wrote the expiration date on it and now I’m done rolling my eyes at egg organizers. Ha! #swayed #neversaynever

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

I’ve always been able to keep my pantry organized but my fridge was another story. I can finally say that my fridge is organized and staying that way!

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

This is real life and it never looks exactly the same. The difference is that now I have containers that I love in a variety of sizes that I can use for what I need and stack to save room. If we have leftover pizza one night and I want to put it on a plate, I’ll pull out a couple of my containers. OR put the pizza slices in the large container. I’ve finally figured out our system! I’m a happy girl. :)

Fridge Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Now let’s all get going on our kitchens! I’m going to set a timer for 20 minutes today and just work fast and see how much I can get done!

Cheers to awesome containers, healthy snacks and all things organized!

Life is about the little things.

:)

Below are some other Walmart organizers I’m loving. Home Edit came out with some bamboo options that are beautiful too! 1- clear storage bin   2-desktop storage   3-clear 3-tier riser

4-  clear plastic turntable   5- compartment storage organizer   6-  clear modular storage

1-round turntable   2-3-tier riser   3- open front bin

4- medium bin   5- bamboo turn table   6-  medium front open bin

Weekend Favorites & Sales

weekend favorites (Sunny Side Up)

I hope you’re having a good weekend! Kenny and I hit the ground running this morning and have been going non stop! A fun and busy day that included lunch and dinner with friends and lots of kid activities in-between including Ad’s Prom! Her friends all met at our house to get ready and they all left excited and looking so beautiful! It brought back so many memories (that feel like 15 minutes ago) of heading to my own high school prom with my girlfriends and this guy. I should have warned them to choose their dates carefully. You never know! That hot prom date could end up being your husband of 25 years before you blink. ;)

{crop puffer vest/dish brush/rug grippers/barstool floor protectors/white tulips – bundle of 5/frida vase/dried natural german statice/glazed terracotta vase}

How did laundry organization go this week? My laundry rooms were mostly organized so I focused on our mudroom and one closet. Feels so good to have done! I’ll share my progress soon! Today I’m popping in with my weekend favorites and sales. I had a good mail day yesterday! Some of the flowers I ordered finally came in, along with a cute vest and my favorite dish scrubbers, rug grippers and barstool leg covers. I’m replacing a few often used favorites! The tulips are SO good. Honestly the most realistic I’ve ever bought/owned! I pulled out this cute grey frida vase I ordered about a month ago and love the tulips in it. I just need one more set of 5 because the mouth is wide. The dried flowers are beautiful too. They are shorter than I thought they would be and a little messy, but they look so good in a vase! I’ll share everything styled soon!

{crop puffer vest/leggings here & here/similar rag & bone sneakers here & here}

This is what the vest looks like on. It’s a hot item this winter and I can see why! So cute and comfortable and I love the neck! It’s thick and soft and keeps my neck warm, but doesn’t make my hair stick out in the back like it does with most vests and hoodies. I’m wearing it with a cropped top and leggings but it would be cute with a longer top under it and jeans too! Comfy to run around in and it comes in lots of colors.

After I organized my bathroom I ordered these rugs to try! They are a little small for my space, but I think they will work for now. I haven’t seen anything large I like as much! These towels are long time favorites so I picked up a few more of those too. I love starting a new year with new towels in the bathroom!

1-  linen textured pillow   2- linen pillow   3-soulful pillow   4- neutral pillow

I always love neutral pillows but especially this time of year! These all come in different shades and are great basics that will be easy to layer with prints in the spring.

1-malibu  flushmount   2- wave mirror   3- sectional

4- pillow   5- floor lamp   6- throw   7-jute rug   8- square coffee table

9- vase   10-blue pillow   11- pillow cover   12- rattan stool

It’s the fresh start event at Serena and Lily! 20% off this weekend. Lots of fun new arrivals this year!

1- zella tank   2-leggings   3-duffle bag

4-zip hoodie   5- air max sneaker   6-  black zip hoodie

I basically live in pjs or athleisure wear through January and February. Comfort is key! Plus my jeans are always a little too tight after the holidays. So time to exercise. In all the athleisure wear. :)

1- dress   2- earrings   3- earrings

4- planter   5- faux fur blanket   6-pump heels

7- capri blue candle   8-xoxo vase  9-heart cardigan sweater

Anthro V-day! That black dress and earrings are too cute! I love the xo vase too.

1- long robe   2-love peachy pajama   3- chanel nail polish

4- heart earrings   5- drop hoop earrings  6-heart cardigan

7-satin chemise   8- honeydew intimates   9- olaplaex oil

10-  dior lip glow   11- heart pendant  12-zella wrap jacket   13-santal 33

A round-up of other fun V-day gifts including my recent favorite pjs and Olaplex bonding oil! I love that stuff. :)

1-love straw tote   2-be mine tote

3- salty as a beach   4- sunrise tote   5- tropic straw tote

Before I shared this straw tote a couple of weeks ago that said Sunny Side Up so many of you reached out and told me about it! I ordered it and then it went out of stock so thanks to everyone who sent me a link. :) It’s such a cute collection! These are other fun options. It will be beach weather before we know it right!? Or at least Spring Break!? Never a bad thought when it’s mid January.

We are organizing kitchens this week! I’m ready. I have a few drawers that need to be vacuumed and straightened and a few things I’m switching around. The kitchen is one spot I love having organized so I’m excited to make some progress in that space. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! We can tackle ALL the things on Monday. ;)

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

We are tackling laundry rooms this week! Woot Woot! Get excited. :)

(For details on my organizing challenge and free printables to help you along the way check out THIS POST.

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

You might remember last year when I did a complete overhaul on our main floor laundry room. When we designed our house I was excited to have all of the extra storage in this space, but I quickly realized that more space just meant more room for piles and clutter! This laundry room became a total dumping ground and was a catch all hot spot in our home for years. I finally set aside a week to work on it and I’m so grateful I did! I’ve been able to keep it organized ever since and now this space is so functional and full of useful storage for our family. You can see the complete breakdown of this organization project in this post.

Below are some fun before and afters for inspiration!

BEFORE

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

AFTER

Finally got all of my candles in one spot! Which made me realize that I had way too many candles. I gifted a lot of these this year and now have room for more. ;)

I also created a spot for all of the candles I use for decorating. Having ALL candles and candle holders in this room made decorating so much easier for me this past holiday season!

And you all know how strongly I feel about a well organized spot for batteries. Makes my heart sing! :)

AFTER

So good right!? I still love opening this cupboard and seeing all of my labeled bins!

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Everything in this spot just makes sense now! Especially having Kole’s swimsuits here so he can wear them out to swim and then I can wash them and toss them back in this bin. Saves both of us many trips up and down the stairs.

AFTER

This lightbulb spot was a disaster for years after we built our house! I’m not scared to enter anymore. :)

Laundry Room Organization (Sunny Side Up)

Like I said, this post has even more pictures and details on how I organized this room! This project wasn’t easy and the “during” certainly wasn’t pretty, but so worth every minute spent!

Here are a few tips for the week if you are working on your laundry space..

– pull everything out of the room!
– touch each item and place it in a sack or pile
(keep/donate/trash/re-locate)
– wipe out/clean drawers, cupboards, shelves
– categorize the “keep” pile
(laundry supplies, storage, etc.)
– place items back in drawers, cupboards, shelves
– label any clear containers
– toss socks w/o a match
– clean out the washing machine (Google how to do this with your machine!  I just cleaned ours out a few months ago.. not a fun job but so nice to have done!)
– vacuum the lint trap
– use bins/baskets to sort dirty clothes (lights/darks/towels)
– establish a routine for laundry & get the family on board!

– add flowers/decorate (make it a happy space!)

When it comes to keeping up with the actual laundry my number one tip is to have a set routine in place! It should be whatever works best for you and your family! I started doing one load a day years ago and it works so well for me! I don’t have a well established, long morning routine like a lot of people do. I like to sleep until I HAVE to wake up with the kids.. ha. But once I’m awake I splash some water on my face, do some quick stretches in my bedroom, and then I toss in a load of laundry! Then I head to the kitchen to get breakfast going and help Kole get out the door. (Addison has already left before we even wake up because she has an early morning class.) After I get Kole to school I put that load I washed into the dryer and then I get ready and start my work day. (I exercise in the evenings now!) I usually fold and put away the clothes later in the afternoon or evening (whenever I have a break!). Now that my kids are older they do all of their own laundry which feels AMAZING. I trained them young (another tip moms!) and they do everything from start to finish. I just help with their towels and sheets. Tuesday is my main cleaning day so that’s the day that I always wash sheets and towels. I rotate weeks for sheets (downstairs sheets one week and the upstairs sheets the next) and then I wash all of the towels every week. Other than in the summer when I feel like I’m washing pool towels every day. :) With this system I’m usually pretty caught up on laundry by Friday so I don’t do much over the weekend.  For me it has always been so much easier to do a load of laundry a day vs. spending one whole day doing laundry, but I know for some families that might not be the case! Try different systems and figure out what works best for you.

Aside from laundry spaces this week is also a great time to tackle whatever your shoe/drop zone looks like! Whether that’s your entry, a full mudroom or hooks and a shelf. I’m organizing our mudroom lockers this week and can’t wait to have that done. They are a little scary at the moment. :)

Keep going! Don’t worry about perfection.. just focus on progress and don’t quit! We’ve got this. :)

Weekend Favorites & Sales

Weekend Favorites & Sales (Sunny Side Up)

{cozy love pajama top/cozy love pajama bottoms/ugg slippers}

I hope you’re all enjoying the weekend! We have had non stop rain again and I’m so grateful. We need it so badly! I can’t wait to see how green and beautiful everything will be this Spring. Spring! Lots to look forward to. :) I’m popping in with some fun weekend favorites and sales! These pjs are too cute with Valentine’s Day coming up. I’m always sad to put away my Christmas pjs so I splurged on these to cheer me up. ;) PJ salvage pajamas are a little on the pricey side, but you can’t beat the quality and I love that I can order the tops and bottoms in 2 different sizes. (Wearing a small in bottoms and xs in the top.) These are so soft but also light weight. Perfect to sleep in and to wear throughout spring.

Weekend Favorites & Sales (Sunny Side Up)

{similar red henley/women’s fleece lounge jogger pants/ugg slippers}

Another cute pair of heart joggers! I’m bummed because these sold out so quickly! Target usually gets items back in stock plus they have this same lounge set in other colors/patterns so I’m still sharing them. A great fit and a great price! I’m waiting on the top to come in so I’m wearing my red henley with them until then.

Weekend Favorites & Sales (Sunny Side Up)

{women’s fleece lounge sweatshirt/women’s fleece lounge jogger pants/ugg slippers}

This cute green set I shared last month is the same set. I wear it over and over. :)

(wearing xs in both the top and bottom – I went one size down in the joggers because they run a little large.)

Weekend Favorites & Sales (Sunny Side Up)

{3×3 white heart rug/2×3 white heart rug/3 x 2.2 pink heart rug}

Another January pick me up? A heart rug for the bathroom of course. :) I ordered a few options to try in my powder bath. The larger rug is too big so I’ll go with the smaller pink or white! These would be fun in a kids’ room too and I’m going to send one to Ellie for her dorm. A little February pick me up. :)

Below I’m sharing my weekend round-up of favorites and sales! Then it’s time to tackle laundry rooms.

Organized Bathroom Drawers

*affiliate links used
Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Well! I kicked off my organizing challenge and then left you hanging last week! Ha. So sorry about that. Kenny was in San Francisco for work and the kids went back to school and things around here got busy quickly and I couldn’t get a blog post up. Life! If you’ve been hanging with me on IG stories I’ve been sharing progress and updates there! I’m happy to say that my list is made and I got all of our bathrooms organized except for Kole’s. His bathroom isn’t too bad so I’ll knock that out (and have him help!) this week. Have you made your list yet? Really this challenge is chill and you can just work at your own pace. Take two or three weeks for bathrooms if you need to! The best part about physically writing your organizing to-do list is that it holds you accountable and reminds you what tasks to focus on each day. Small wins! Every time you check something off of your list you create momentum to keep going. (You can find my organizing challenge printables HERE and read more details about this challenge in general HERE).

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

These are my bathroom organization essentials! Dish soap, my portable hand vacuum cleaner (perfect for cleaning drawers!), paper towels and cleaning cloths. I empty every drawer and cupboard completely and vacuum any hair/dirt in the drawer. Then I fill my sink with hot, soapy water and after vacuuming I scrub all drawers and cupboards clean. Next it’s time to go through all products and toss/donate things you don’t use and love. Put items back and decide what organizers (if any) would work best in your space. I listen to a good podcast or book on audible and move quickly! It always feels so good when each bathroom is done. :)

For more bathroom organization tips (and pictures of most of our bathroom drawers) check out this post from last year. Below are some pictures I took of the current state of my bathroom drawers after a good clean out!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{linus shallow drawer organizer}

My every day make-up and sunscreen. I’ve been using these shallow drawer organizers for a few years now and still love them! I put a little bit of this putty on the bottom of the outside organizers to hold them in place.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{drawer divider}

You can’t go wrong with a good drawer divider! I love having wash cloths and my most used products close in this drawer.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{linus shallow drawer organizer}

Brushes and nighttime products are in this drawer. I’m out of a few skin favorites I ordered so I set a little bowl in this drawer to hold the jewelry I wear most days. It has been so handy having it close when I’m in a hurry getting ready!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{linus deep drawer organizers}

Extras go in this drawer below. These organizers come up higher on the sides and hold more for deeper drawers. So nice!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{linus deep drawer bins}

These bins are also great for deep drawers.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{divided lazy susan}

I cleaned out this space under my bathroom sink a few years ago and for the most part I’ve been able to keep it clean. The only issue?

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I’ve accumulated more products! Most items I wanted to keep so I knew it was a time for a better system for this space.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{2 Tier Lazy Susan Organizers}

The divided lazy susan I’ve been using for years has been great, but I wanted more storage. When I landed on these 2 Tier Lazy Susans I knew they would be a perfect solution.

Ready to see the after?

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

So good right!?

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{2 Tier Lazy Susan Organizers}

I was able to fit so many more products with the 2 shelves! I put items I use the most on the lazy susan in front (hello Olaplex) and items I use less often (like self tanner I just use in the summer) on the lazy susan behind. These lazy susans come in two sizes and I have the smaller size. The large size would be perfect in a kitchen pantry!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{2 Tier Organizer w/ Dividers}

I have a lot of smaller items like extra mascara, lip gloss, hair masks, and travel sized items that I wanted to keep but I don’t use every day. I don’t like storing items like this in my drawers because I forget about them so I searched for a solution and found this 2 tier organizer with dividers. I absolutely love it!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

The drawers slide in and out so easily and have dividers so you can separate items.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

So good! Now I can see and access everything so easily. There was even a perfect spot in-between for my Senia hot/cold facial steamer. Cheers to more spa nights with Addison. :)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{T 3 hair tools}

My favorite drawer in our bathroom? The hot tool drawer.. forever and always. :) This pic is older and now all of my hair tools are white! But still T3. I’ve slowly handed down older curling irons and blow dryers to my girls and bought new since they were always stealing mine! If you have thick hair I would highly recommend this brand. A little pricey but so good and you will have them for years.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{ivory decorative tray/artisan vase/faux tree branches}

I really try to resist decorating during this challenge because I want to focus on donating items we don’t need and getting my spaces organized, but I couldn’t resist adding a fun tray and some faux branches in my bathroom. So simple and it brought so much life to this space! I’ve had these branches for a while and they are so good for the price. I bought the pack of 5 which feels perfect because I like a less full look with these branches. They are extremely realistic!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

{glass candle holder/similar glass hurricane/luxie make-up brushes & sephora make-up brushes/marble heart tray}

I like having my make-up brushes out on the counter (my favorites are linked!) and I set out this cute marble heart tray to hold my ring and other jewelry. It’s beautiful and comes in a large size also.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

That’s a wrap on bathroom organization! Like I mentioned above, you can see more of our bathroom drawers in this post. I’ve shared our bathroom drawers so many times through the years I don’t want to put you all to sleep with them again.. ha. But I hope it’s motivating to see afters! There is nothing like waking up in the morning and opening clean and organized bathroom drawers. It’s a great way to start your day!

I’ll be back soon (really soon!) with some fun weekend sales and favorites. Then it’s on to laundry rooms, mudrooms/shoe storage this week!

We’ve got this. :)

Weekend Favorites & Sales

1- essentialism   2- the one thing

Happy Saturday! Today I’m kicking off a new series for the year called Weekend Favorites & Sales! A fun way to share all of the great finds I spot throughout the week. I thought about calling this post Friday Favorites, but I’ve tried Friday post series before and well.. I have about a 40% success rate of getting the post up on Friday. Knowing this about myself I decided the title for this series needs to be “weekend” favorites and sales. I’m thinking that since that title works on a Friday, Saturday OR Sunday I greatly improve my odds. Ha. :) I sort off dropped the ball with my Amazon Buys too sometime in last Fall so I’ll include Amazon favorites in these weekend posts as well. Hopefully this is a win for everyone! I’m kicking today’s post off with my favorite motivational books since I’ve been listening to them all on audible again this week! LOVE every one of these books so much. They are even better the second or third time around! I’m always picking up new ideas that fit my current stage of life. I love to listen to a good book or podcast while I organize so I’ll be playing these even more during the next 9 weeks! Did you make your organizing challenge to-do list!? I’ll share mine on Monday!

A lot of Target home items sell quickly but come back in stock so sign up to get notified if there is something you love that sold out! New Year Essentials and Organizing!

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Happy New Year everyone! 2023. It’s going be a good one! I just have a feeling. :) I’ve missed you all! I hope you had the best holiday with loved ones. I’ve been soaking up every minute with this crew while my kids are still out of school.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Ad and Kole start school next Wednesday and Ellie heads back to college this weekend. While our time all together as a family has been the best and I’m grateful for it, I can’t help feeling a little sad about her leaving again. Plus the holidays are over. Plus we’ve had nonstop rain. {Sigh} The new year is always an interesting time for me. One minute I’m feeling inspired and motivated and ready to set ALL the goals and take on the world! Then the next minute I’m feeling post holiday let down and just want to curl up on my couch with my cozy blanket and Netflix. Ha. Maybe some of you can relate? I usually feel better once we are back in a good routine so I’m looking forward to that and to more time working on fun projects this year!

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Kole and I finished taking down the last of the holiday decor today. I enjoyed it for so long and then yesterday I sort of snapped and wanted it all put away immediately! Ha! When you’re done you’re done. :)

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Our theatre room (where I put everything so I can organize my attic space) is still a disaster at the moment, but I’m making progress! I need a few more hours and that should do it. It feels so good to have the house clean and clutter free! It also feels a little empty, but I enjoy taking my time bringing our home back to life throughout January.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

{gratitude journal/similar clipboard & notepad/garden party scissors/gold scissors/favorite pens/desert sage planner/stripe black planner}

A few days ago I lit a candle and gathered up some New Year favorites and cleaned my office. It felt so good! I ordered two new planners for the year (crazy I know but I use them both depending on my schedule and mood!). I also ordered more of my favorite pens and scissors for my office and pulled out my gratitude journal. Now I’m set for 2023!

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

The stripe planner is thicker and is the planner I use the most. It has a full page for each day and I like to have plenty of room to keep track of everything.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

For days or weeks that are a little more chill I like the layout in this planner with three days on a page and room for just a few to-dos.

1- weekly planner   2-fabric storage boxes   3- gel pens   4- page marker flags

5- handheld vacuum   6-long cardigan   7- gratitude journal   8-food storage containers

9-joggers   10-stanley tumbler  11- scissors  12- nike running shoe

These are a few more staples for me this time of year! Items I use and love all year long but especially in January!

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

{fern plant/citrus art – similar here & here/gold landscape art/gold bowl/gold tray/angular bowl/stripe rug}

I also ordered a few fun things to spruce up my empty home – wouldn’t be a new year without a good Target order right? :) I’m excited to start decorating!

I’m also excited to start organizing! I’m doing my organizing challenge again this year and seriously can’t wait! I love the way it keeps me accountable for going though my entire home in just 9 weeks. I don’t always get every single thing done I set out to do, but I always get SO MUCH ORGANIZED. It really creates such a feeling of peace and calm for me. Both inside of our home and inside of my head! :)

Here are details for the challenge. It starts this Monday, January 9th. I so hope you’ll join me!

Our schedule..

Week 1 – BATHROOMS
Week 2 – LAUNDRY ROOM/ENTRY/MUDROOM (shoe drop zone!)
Week 3 – KITCHEN
Week 4 – CLOSETS
Week 5 – BEDROOMS
Week 6 – FAMILY/LIVING ROOM
Week 7 – HOME OFFICE/PAPER
Week 8 – PLAYROOM/TOYS

Week 9 – GARAGE

I’m going to be doing this right along with you again! Yes a lot of these spaces in my home are already organized, but some of them aren’t. I have a few spots that need some serious attention and most of my organized spaces can all use a quick tidy/re-fresh.  Even if your home is mostly organized I think you can benefit from this challenge. We all can! It’s a great time of year to get rid of clutter and really focus on spaces that need attention.

This is what I want you to do this week..

1 – First, click HERE to sign up for my e-mail list and download my Get Organized Challenge PrintablesPrint them and fill them out. If you don’t get a follow-up e-mail soon after check your junk/spam! It’s one large PDF but you can choose what you want to print. There are 3 pages that include a general checklist and tips.  If you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.. follow this printable!  Obviously every home is different and some things might not apply, but it’s a good general idea of what items are important to focus on. I also included 3 pages of the same checklists that are blank.  If you’d rather fill out your own checklist items for each space, print out the sheets with blank lines and get to work making your to-do list. I like to walk though my home and really look at everything I want to organize and write it all down! There is also a printable that has every space on one page if you don’t feel like you need as many to-do lines.  Most of us will need the 3 pages. ;)  Print just a few or print them all!  Use whatever is helpful and make these checklists work for you.

2 – Follow me on IG if you aren’t already.  I’ll be sharing pictures, tips and my progress on my main feed and in stories.  I would LOVE it if you would share your before/after pictures on IG too!  Tag me at erin_sunnysideup and I’ll share some of your before/afters in stories to help motivate us all and give us more ideas!

3 – Buy black garbage bags if you don’t have them already.  A label maker and a small hand held vacuum is helpful too but not necessary!

4 – Get a friend to do it with you!  I’m serious.  Right now call or text a close friend or family member and get them on board.  It’s so much more fun and it will hold you accountable each week!

Ok.. that’s it for this weekend.  *Print the printables, make your lists, get your garbage bags ready, follow me on IG and text a friend!

I’ll be writing one post about the assigned space to kick off each week with some ideas and tips that have helped me.  Here are a few general tips I like to share each year to keep in mind before we get started..

General tips:

This isn’t a cleaning challenge.  Cleaning and organizing go hand in hand so let me explain.  The goal of this challenge is to get rid of items we don’t need and to organize the cupboards, drawers, piles, hot spots in our homes that are cluttering up our lives.  If you finish cleaning out all of your bathroom cupboards/drawers and have time to then wipe off counters and mirrors and scrub your shower.. go for it!  But the main goal is to PURGE like your life depends on it and organize all of the hidden messy spaces.  Do that first!  Then if you have extra time during the week you can do some deep cleaning too.

I’ll say it again.. be ruthless with purging/donating items!  Pump yourself up before you start to get rid of as much as you can.  Less is more.  Trust me.. you won’t miss things!  To truly be organized you have to be comfortable living with less stuff.

If you’re short on time one week and can’t really get around to organizing your space, just commit to purging items you don’t need/use/love.  Just doing that alone will make a difference!  You can come back to that space to organize it all later.  Feel free to move ahead if you complete spaces early, just don’t get burned out!  It might be better for you to put your feet up and rest if you complete a space early so that you have energy to tackle a new space the next week.  :)

Don’t buy organizers YET.  Wait until each space is complete to see what you really need.  Then if organizers would be helpful you can order exactly what you need.

Resist the urge to over organize and have everything labeled and color coordinated.  Yes.. this is coming from me.  The one who loves to over organize and label everything and make it all color coordinated. Ha. ;)  That’s my personality (I have a touch of OCD in case you haven’t noticed!) and I’m a more naturally organized person and it’s part of what I do for a living.  If that’s you too then great.. go for it!  Live it up and label away!  If that’s just NOT you.. take the pressure off of yourself immediately!  The goal of this challenge is to get rid of clutter and to set up systems that work for you/your family and that will be sustainable.  For example: If having all of your cereal dumped into clear cereal bins isn’t something you want to keep doing every time you get groceries.. don’t do it!  Designate a spot for your cereal boxes all together in your pantry/cupboard and line them up.  Done!  Something you can easily maintain.  (I’m talking to you mom.) ;)

Don’t waste too much time making decisions.  You want to move fast and get as much done as you can in the time you have.  I always say when it doubt.. donate!  Plus moving fast keeps your momentum up!

Get a good playlist ready!
 Or download a good book on audible or find some fun podcasts to listen to while you work.  Make this fun! It’s time to party!  My kind of party.  And you’re all invited. :)

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Along with my Organizing Challenge Printables you’ll also see that all of my old printables are back in my library! New 2023 calendars and to-do lists and everything got a re-fresh this year! My printables are a new color that is pretty close to the color of my office at the moment.. a sort of green/grey. Obviously I’m a fan. :) Here are a few of the long time favorites that are back in my library for you to download..

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

This is a great printable if you just have small spots you can tackle in 15 minutes a day! So fun to check them all off the list. :)

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

This is the goal page I try to fill out at the start of each month. I love having the reminder close by of things I want to work on! It always helps keep me on track.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

Some months I take it one step further and use this habit tracker to motivate me to make certain goals a habit! I’ll put small things like “hang up clothes after I take them off in my closet” and check off each day that I do it. That was NOT a habit for me for a long time. Ha.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

I LOVE filling out this printable at the beginning of each year! I walk through my home and make a wish list of what I would love to do to update different spaces.

New Year/Organizing Challenge (Sunny Side Up)

This is an oldie but a goodie most of you will remember! Such a great printable if you have big projects you want to tackle! It’s always easiest to break things down into smaller to-do’s that can be accomplished one at a time.

These are just a few of the organizing printables inside my library! Check out the rest when you sign up HERE. I hope they are helpful!

Alright friends. Enjoy your weekend and get some rest because on Monday.. we organize! I can’t wait.

Things are feeling less gloomy around here already.

:)
