Christmas Living Room

Christmas Living Room (Sunny Side Up)

Well.. last week was a blur! Hands down our busiest of the month. Lots of fun – parties and performances and ALL the holiday activities. I had my pj party Thursday and it was so much fun (will share pics soon!). We have a few things going on this week but it’s not quite so crazy and I’m getting excited to get my kids out of school! I love it when we hit that time of the month when things start slowing down and we can fit in lots of family time doing some of our favorite Christmas traditions.

I still have lots of fun Christmas decor to share with you all and we’re kicking off the week with my living room! So hard to photograph from this hallway because of the lighting pouring in through my french doors.. the hallway really isn’t so dark. :) But I wanted to show my fun wreaths on the lights! I ordered two of these 28″ hoop wreaths last year and then picked up two more this year. They sold out quickly so next year I’ll be sure to let you all know when they are back in stock. I love them because aside from the beautiful look/style they are lightweight so perfect to hang on lights or cabinet hardware (I have two more in my formal dining room).

Nothing like traditional Christmas colors. :) I finally got my Christmas pictures up on the wall!

Some of you might remember my O Holy Night sign I’ve had for years that never seems to get put away after the holidays. Christmas lives on forever in this corner at our house. Ha.

My fa-la-la pillow is on sale! So many cute PB holiday items are marked down right now and still get here in time for Christmas! Some would make great gifts too. Like this cute serveware, these cozy handknit throws, and this fun charcuterie board you can personalize. I’ll link a few more gift ideas on sale at the end of this post! I have so many rounded up and just haven’t had time to share them.

I also added a basket of favorite Christmas books next to the fireplace for easy story time. My kids are older but still love the classics. :)

I always just add greenery and ornaments to spruce up my shelves for the season. I have faux green picks I always use that are easy to slide onto shelves behind books and objects. They are very similar to these!

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my fa-la-la room! Below are some pictures I took of it at night (always the coziest isn’t it!?). Kenny set all of my Christmas trees to click on around 5 pm using an app on our phones. I don’t know if he has ever spoken my love language more! Ha. Well done babe. It always makes me so happy when they come on each night.

I’ll add room sources and a few fun holiday items/gifts on sale at the end of this post. I’m hoping to be back with another post ASAP (I still have so much to share!) but regardless I wanted to wish you all the BEST week! Lots to do but I hope we are all able to enjoy some of the magic happening this time of year too. :)

*Quick tip – use battery operated lights (these are my favorites!) to place inside your trays on tables and shelves. It adds such a cozy touch! They work great on mantel greenery too.

  1. Such a beautiful room, Erin! Thank you for sharing it. I love that deep green and the bright red together. All your pieces and bits and bobs work wonderfully together to create a lovely and cozy room; an ability I truly admire. Yay for surviving a very busy week and hopefully going forward you can slow down a bit and enjoy all the fruits of your labors. Merriest of Christmas seasons to you! Thank you for all the hard work that goes into making these wonderful posts we all get to enjoy!

    1. So beyond sweet of you Jeanne! You are so thoughtful. Thank you so much for all of your encouraging words.. they are so appreciated! I’m so grateful we’ve been able to connect through my blog. You are a true gem. :) Love you! I hope you and your sweet family are having the best December! XO

  2. Beautiful living room! I just love all of your decor, thank you for all of the inspiration. Is this rug in your living room new? Is it one of the linked options? They all look a little different than the one in your pictures. Thanks!

    1. Thank you so much Kelly! I’m so happy you like it! I’ve actually had that rug for about 8 years. It was from Restoration Hardware and I’m not sure if they even still sell it. I can’t do the picture widgets/links with Restoration Hardware (they don’t work with Reward Style) so I just linked some similar options. :)

  3. Erin,
You early bird! I know you are 3 hr. BEHIND us and your newest came in this AM. just past 8:30 AM East coast time!
I must congratulate you on that as I know you are a Night Owl, as am I. Oops! forgot .Kidos still at home! Being a step or two ahead of you, I do not miss driving the morning “taxi !!!
OHMYGOSH-dont know WHERE to start. The MOST beautiful living room and it proves (at least to me) that FULL “open concept” is not all it is said to be. A separate room or two-so much better. The rest of the house can be a bit “OFF” and the nice “formal” rooms, dining and or living room are still ready for guests and also just as a GET AWAY with a nice mug of tea, a book or a DECORATING Mag ;-D That coffered ceiling! Yup for my NEXT house IF we ever “downsize”. IF! NOT a “tray” ceiling. HAS to be coffered! Day OR night THIS Holiday space-a DREAM space including the Holiday framed photos! My inspiration in spite of my “cheating.” My holiday photos ARE “up” but they are pushed into the window glass mullions on my kitchen cabinets! AHH…frames, SOME day! Hides a bit of clutter tho, still not “Marie K” approved inside my glass cabinets! ;-D
The greenery picks are a brilliant idea for small spaces as is the “random finds” around your house! The BEST, but I only WISH I could take over an entire basement w/shelves and decorating props like that woman on You Tube! Husband would die. WHY do men “THINK” they OWN EVERY unfinished space? Basement/garage, etc.?
Lastly (THIS TIME) I LOVE that you LEAVE that Christmas sign UP. We ALL need a “reminder” of WHAT it is ALL ABOUT. I have a large Christmas cherub/angel framed picture in my powder bath. Left it up by ACCIDENT one year and the next also. I then loved HOW it looked like it belonged there, and it is a reminder and NOW a PERMINANT addition to that little room! Accidents!
ALL for NOW However PS. The” Fa la la la ” pillow is in my cart as I type! YES! Also, I am “over” the bashing my walls down idea for FULL open concept!

    1. Sharon I laughed out loud when I read “early bird!” You are right.. I’m a total night owl so if you see a post coming in “early” it was actually finished in the am LATE for me before I finally made it to bed. Only to wake up 3-4 hours later to start the morning taxi (one thing I’m sure I won’t miss either!). ;) I’m so happy you like the living room! I’m with you. I love open concept for our main rooms but it’s still so nice and cozy to have some separate rooms you can escape to! With a good book or better yet like you said.. a decorating magazine. Always. ;) I have many spaces that aren’t “Marie K” approved at the moment too. This busy holiday season usually means things are getting stashed in cupboards and drawers right and left! It always feels so good in January to go through everything. I LOVE that you have a happy “accident” with your decor too and I couldn’t agree more. We all need a constant reminder for why we celebrate! What it’s all about at the end of the day. :) Wishing you and yours the happiest end of December! Thank you for always being such a bright spot in my inbox. :) XO

  4. We don’t have a mantle but I love the look of the greenery on yours. It looks so realistic. I don’t know why I didn’t like it before but lately I’ve been using it all over the place. I just wish I can find one like yours. Also love the pillows. My hubs was so tired of my stacks of pillows in our linen closet that we went out to get the vacuum sealer bags and went to town with it at the end of Fall. I just told him he will need to help me once I start decorating for Christmas because I couldn’t tell which bags contained the Christmas pillows. I also laugh every time I see that insurance commercial where the lady has all kinds of pillows on her sofa and the Dr. Phil type character comes to help her with her “problem” by throwing out all the pillows so people can sit on the sofa. So funny.

  5. Hi Erin, Your home is so beautiful! Quick question. I have several of your little battery string lights that you have in your LR basket. I love them. How do you have them hidden in the basket? Or are they just laying in the basket where they can be seen if you are near it? The photos show such a beautiful glow :-)

    1. Thank you so much Dianne! So sweet of you. I kind of tucked them under that wooden link! You can see them if you’re close, but they are woven in the link and then I tucked the battery pack behind the vase. :)

  6. Love everything about this room! It has given me inspiration for my house next Christmas! I want to copy your mantle with the garland. Where did you find the bell garland? I love that one. How big are the bells?

Thanks for the help and all of the ideas! Happy New Year!
    Bonnie
