Dear Phillip

You rock!!  You were my pick from day one and I am so happy you didn’t make me look like an idiot in front of all of my blog friends.  When you won I cried.  Not because you didn’t make me look like an idiot in front of my blog friends (although that was a bonus).  I cried because I am SO happy for you.  Love your voice.  Love your style.  Love the way you pull that cat like face and move your feet around when you sing.  Love the way you headed to your sweet family so soon after you won.  Love that I am validated.  Patiently waiting for your first CD.

xoxo,

a fan.

p.s.  Did I mention that you rock!?

p.p.s.  Back to regular posting soon.  :)

xoxo, Erin

  1. I also had tears in my eyes when he passed Randy to go right to his family. I love him too. I think Jessica will go very far also. She has an amazing voice for a 16 year old!! Phillip has the whole package though.
I thought it was a great show tonight!

  2. I agree Cathy! Jessica is amazing too. So many great singers this year. I was working on another post but couldn’t focus with American Idol on! Had to just stop and watch the show. :)

  3. I’m pretty sure that I also cried. When he got choked up and stopped singing, I cried more. When he walked to his parents I cried some more and then started clapping. It was perfect. It’s probably good that I was alone because people might have thought there was something wrong with me.
I love Jessica’s voice and she’s a great singer. I think Phillip is a great musician. I think that they’ll both have great careers.

  4. I just knew Phillip was going to win…love everything about him! My husband even cried last night when Phillip stopped singing and went to his family. I hope he has lots of success!

  5. My favorite were Colton and Philip. So happy that Philip won. I knew he could be in top 2 when I first saw him during audition. I am so excited for new season of SYTYCD

  6. I’m right there with you, Erin!! He seems like such a ‘real’ and humble person…love that!

  7. I felt the same way when David Cook won!! I was so excited! I actually got to meet him when the Idols went on tour that summer…so exciting!!

  8. I cried too! My husband was laughing at me, but it was so emotional. I love how he didn’t even wait to finish his song, he just headed straight for his family. He seems like such a humble, down-to-earth guy. Looking forward to his first CD.

  9. knew your post would be about Phillip today. I was so happy when he won and I totally thought of you, couldn’t wait to read your blog today ;) Phillip was our favorite this season too, in fact we decided last night that is our favorite of all seasons, he’s the bomb!!!

  10. I totally agree with you. Phillip was my pick since his very first (Superstition/Thriller) audition. I screamed every time he went through and so did my six month old boy. (I think it was just to copy mommy) I cried so hard when he won, especially because he stopped singing.

I’m glad someone so original won American Idol. You hear too much that they need to be “mainstream” and not branch out too far. Phillip kept his ground with Tommy Hilfiger and continued to dress the way he wanted. I love everything about this guy and I can’t wait for his CD!
