Saturday 6

1 – COZY KITCHEN

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Charcoal Terracotta Jug, Small Pumpkin Candle, Large Pumpkin Candle, Acacia Cutting Board}

Happy Saturday! I’m so happy to be home! Spent a week in Texas and had the best time but there is nothing like coming home after a trip. Especially when home includes the best smelling pumpkin candle and a cozy fall kitchen. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

 {Electronic Candle Lighter, Charcoal Terracotta Jug, Small Pumpkin Candle, Large Pumpkin Candle, Acacia Cutting Board}

This little candle lighter is my new BFF. It works great, is easy to use and is pretty if I leave it out next to my candles. Bring on ALL the holiday scents! I just saw this new candle came out for Christmas and that will happily be coming home with me in November. I love candle season!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Maple Branches, Vase, Glass Pumpkin, Pumpkin Lights

The lights inside of my glass pumpkins are making this window so cozy!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I used my favorite fairy lights inside of these. Easy way to add some holiday ambiance!

2 – RECENT HOME FINDS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Candle Warmer, AD at 100, The Art of Home, Capri Blue Glam Pumpkin Candle

One last candle before we move on! (Keeping my candle warmer out during the holidays!)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

This pumpkin candle (aside from smelling amazing) has such a pretty glam look! It will look beautiful through December. And in January too. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Top view.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

This terracotta vase is a pretty Amazon find. I’ll share how I’m styling it soon!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Last but not least my cute spider candy bowl. I sometimes set it by the fruit bowl to feel better.. balance in all things. ;)

3 – RECENT FASHION FINDS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog){Floral Fall Dress/Butterfly Necklace/Similar Booties}

I shared this dress in a recent post but I’m sharing it quick again because it was just marked down and is almost gone! If you were debating it. ;)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)327 Sneakers

Cutest sneakers that go with everything! This style comes in stock and is out of stock in a blink so don’t wait on these either!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)NFL Tee, Vuori Joggers, 327 Sneakers

This was my travel outfit home from Texas. I feel this shirt deeply! I’m always so sad for the losing team and especially feel sad and stressed for the kicker when the game is tied and it all comes down to him! I always say to Kenny “his poor mom right now!” He just shakes his head. Ha. Several guys in the airport stopped to tell me they loved my shirt so I’ll keep hoping both teams have fun and praying for the kickers.

And their moms.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Red Heels, Travel Favorites

Love these heels! Maroon is the “it” color for fall and aside from being cute these heels are so comfortable! They come in black and a pretty taupe color too.

4 – LTK CON DAY ONE

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Off to Texas! I’m sharing a quick re-cap of my trip including what I wore! Sorry for the massive picture dump in this post! We have a lot to catch up on. :)

Tobie Dress, Red Heels, Black Bag (similar)

So fun being reunited with long time blog friends! I’ve been going to the LTK conference for years now and while I love the speakers and classes my favorite part is spending time with friends I don’t get to see as often as I’d like! This was day one of classes and I adore this tobie dress. It’s so cute and flattering!

Tobie Dress (long version), Tobie Dress, Red Heels, Black Bag (similar)

A friend was wearing the same dress but in the long version! It’s a popular dress and comes in several colors/patterns. 10/10!

Midi Dress, Clear Heels, Feather Clutch, Earrings

Speaking of dresses that are a 10/10.. for the evening events I wore this midi dress in bronze. I couldn’t love this dress more! It’s flattering and comfortable and looks a lot more expensive than it is. It comes in black also but I love this color for fall!

Midi Dress, Clear Heels, Feather Clutch, Earrings

I bought it a few weeks ago for an event I went to for Kenny’s office. Loved the dress! But I didn’t have shoes and a purse that I loved to go with it so I bought the accessories above to wear with it for the LTK conference. (Sidenote.. I spilled some food on it the first time I wore it so I washed it (delicate cycle) and hung it to dry and it looked brand new!)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Midi Dress, Earrings

I snapped this picture to show my girls the dress but wanted to share it here because you can see my cute earrings! These are my favorite “fancy” earrings that I wear whenever I dress up for something. I have the gold set and they are on sale at the moment. Perfect for holiday parties!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Midi Dress, Clear Heels, Feather Clutch, Earrings

Aren’t these flowers gorgeous!?

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Midi Dress, Clear Heels, Feather Clutch, Earrings

So fun catching up with my HOME girls! There is something really special when on-line friends become real life friends.

My favorite part about this whole blogging/IG gig. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Midi Dress, Clear Heels, Feather Clutch, Earrings

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We ended the first night with dinner and this gorgeous view! Then we stayed up WAY too late chatting and woke up early to do it all over again..

5 – LTK CON DAY TWO

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)A-line Dress, Red Heels, Black Bag (similar)

Dress for day two of speakers and classes! Another dress I’m loving and this one is especially comfortable. Aren’t the red shoes a fun pop of color!?

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Our lunch table was so pretty!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

So were the details in the hotel!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

For the party on the final night I wore this pretty black dress I bought for holiday parties last year. It’s back in stock in a pretty ruched version! Gorgeous!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Ruched Dress, Black Pumps, Black Bag (similar)

I always come back from this conference feeling grateful for good friends and grateful that I get to do what I love every day! Thank you again for being here. :)

6 – PARENT’S WEEKEND

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Wrapping up today’s Saturday 6 with a few pics from parent’s weekend for Addison!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Puff Sleeve Ruffle Tee (on sale!)

We ate at Ad’s new favorite restaurant in Waco. She’s pretty tight with the owner already and she told us that Chip and Jo were in the night before! So cool. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Puff Sleeve Ruffle Tee (on sale!)

The best spending time with Ad! We have missed both of our girls so much but get to see Ellie more often having her close.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Addison’s Dorm Sources

Ad and I were getting ready for a few events in her cute dorm and looked over to talk to the boys and Kenny was asleep on the floor! Ha ha.. Kole had his head in his iPad. These two are so fun to hang out with. ;) No wonder I miss my girls so much!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Curling Iron

Ad and I used the curling iron I bought her to take to college to do our hair and I loved it so much I just ordered me one! If you need a good curling iron give this a try. Highly recommend! Ellie always jokes that we only have 4 people in our family because Addison and I are basically the same person and there is a lot of truth to that! We love all of the same things and have similar personalities and are pretty much inseparable when we’re together. I feel like my right arm is missing having her gone! Getting by ok because we FaceTime and talk several times a day.. ha.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Anessa High Waist Leg Jeans, TB Purse

Look who decided to come alive and join the party! Nice to see you boys. ;)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Travel Backpack

I snapped this pic after an event because I was chuckling that Kenny was toting my backpack around (carrying it for me!) and then fell in love with the pretty lighting I didn’t mean to capture! So happy I did.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

So much fun tailgating and going to our first Baylor football game! It was a blackout game so I just wore a black dress I’ve had for years. We bought the boys some merch at the bookstore. The freshman have such a fun tradition of “running the line” at all of the home games. They all race out on to the field before the team does and it’s so cool! We loved watching it live! I told Ad the first time she did it to stay on the sides so she didn’t get clobbered! Shoes are flying and it’s pure madness while the kids are running. Ad said it’s pretty terrifying in the best way. The kids do it their freshman year and then one more time their senior year. Love that. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We got to meet so many of Addison’s new friends and their parents! By the end of the trip Kenny and I felt like we had a new group of fun friends ourselves.. bonus! I’m already excited for the next time we get to all hang out together. I have to say that I was so anxious, nervous, sad and honestly just depressed about my girls moving out but seeing them happy and thriving and knowing they are both exactly where they need to be has completely melted those feelings. I still have sad moments and I miss having them in our home every single day, but there is nothing better than watching your kids soar on their own. Kenny and I get misty eyed sometimes talking to them and look at each other and just smile so big. We’re both just so proud of all they are doing. There are a lot of ups and downs with parenting but the ups make the downs worth it don’t they!? Feeling grateful right now to be in an upswing. I’m going to appreciate and enjoy it while it lasts!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

One of the parents snapped this while we were all walking and sent it to me. The best weekend!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Grateful for sure.

Sunday Edit

Sunday Edit (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Happy Sunday from Texas! We are enjoying parent’s weekend with Addison and having so much fun spending time with her and meeting all of her sweet new friends and their parents! I’m staying in Texas a little longer than my boys because I’m heading to the Reward Style Conference in Dallas. Timing worked out great to hit parent’s weekend and the conference in the same trip! I just hope I can keep my emotions and tears at bay when it’s time to say good-bye to Addison again so that I don’t enter the conference with swollen eyes. Wish me luck with that one!

Sunday Edit (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Last Saturday we picked Ellie up early at her apartment to take her to breakfast. The best getting to see her on the weekends even if it’s just for a couple of hours! It has been 3 weeks since my girls both moved out and even though it has been an adjustment and there have definitely been sad moments for me (they hit at the most random times) I feel like I’m working through it and feeling more like myself every day. We all talk on the phone or FaceTime every day and it feels so good to be on the other side of getting them settled and moved in. It definitely helps that they are both doing so well and having fun! I’m taking things one day at a time with this transition and if you are going through a difficult change I hope you are able to do the same. Baby Steps! Feeling like I need to watch “What About Bob” again soon. A family favorite. :)

I hope you like today’s round-up! So many fun things for fall, my travel favorites and your favorites from last week on the blog! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Fall Kitchen

Fall Dress (Sunny Side Up)

{Floral Fall Dress/Butterfly Necklace/Similar Booties}

Happy Saturday! Mixing things up a little today! I’m still sharing my usual Saturday 6 post at some point next week, but first wanted to share a few fall touches I’ve added to my kitchen! But first before that (ha) I wanted to share this pretty fall dress! I was going to share it later in the week with fall fashion I’m loving right now, but sizes are already selling out so I thought I better share it quick before it’s gone. It’s definitely a splurge dress, but if you are looking for something pretty for fall family photos this dress would be perfect!

Fall Dress (Sunny Side Up)

{Floral Fall Dress/Butterfly Necklace/Similar Booties}

It’s so flattering and the colors and floral print are absolutely gorgeous for fall! Very easy to pull colors from the flowers for the rest of your crew’s clothes for pictures too. I paired it with some booties but you could make it more of a dressy look with pretty heels. 10/10! (Fits true to size.)

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog){Cottage Wall Art, Similar Art, Similar Gold Ash Leaf Arrangement, Woven Tray, Tinted Vase, Wheat Stems, Tinted Vase, Gold Metal Tray, Utensil Crock,  Wall Canvas, Salt & Pepper Mill, Faux Eucalyptus Plant, Candle, Similar Marble & Wood Board, Pizza Paddle Board, Similar Tall Rectangle Board, Hanover Pendants}

Ok! Now on the the fall kitchen. :) I kept things so simple this year, but it’s crazy how even minimal fall decor can bring such a cozy vibe into a space!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog){Kitchen Runner, Similar Gold Ash Leaf Arrangement, Black Woven Bowl, Faux Turning Maple Branch, Modern Distressed Vase, Glass Amber Pumpkin, Pumpkin Lights, Hicks Pendant}

I’m trying out this new runner and love the texture/color for fall! It’s really soft which is great to step on, but definitely a rug you want to put a pad underneath so that it doesn’t move around. I ordered one more option to try that I’ll share soon!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Black Woven Bowl, Faux Turning Maple Branch, Modern Distressed Vase, Glass Amber Pumpkin, Pumpkin Lights, Tall Glass Pumpkin, Glass Orange Pumpkin, Fairy Lights, Gold Pumpkin, Similar Marble Lazy Susan, Peyton Dishtowel, Hicks Pendant}

I added my glass pumpkins with lights inside in my window and they all light up so pretty at night! The maple branches are gorgeous in person and they are on sale. I just have 2 stems in my Amazon vase.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog){Woven Tray, Tinted Vase, Wheat Stems, Tinted Vase}

I bought these vases and wheat stems last year and love them so much I wanted to use them again. Long time favorite tray too!

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I had a cute pumpkin board on this tray that recently landed on a different kitchen shelf so I moved this pretty tree canvas in its place. I’m loving all of the dark and moody colors for fall. Really I’m loving all of the dark and moody colors for every season.

Fall Kitchen (Sunny Side Up Blog){Charcoal Terracotta Jug, Small Pumpkin Candle, Large Pumpkin Candle, Acacia Cutting Board}

My absolute favorite fall item this year? The wooden pumpkin candles. Oh. My. Word. The smell coming from these candles is absolutely intoxicating! Fall perfection and I can’t get enough of it! Plus the pumpkins are just adorable and make such cute decor. I will save them and use them to decorate with long after the candles are gone! I’m loving how they look next to this pretty terracotta jug too. Favorite fall moment happening in this space. :)

I have so much to share so I’ll be back soon! Have you decorated for fall? Now that my house is decorated I’m ready to light my candle and watch some football! And by watch some football I mean enjoy the sounds of football on in the background while I do more decorating and work on projects. Fall can be whatever you want it to be. :)

Sunday Edit

Happy Sunday! Sharing some fun fall round-ups today! Your recent favorites from the blog, beautiful (and inexpensive!) fall wreaths, Amazon deals/orders and more! I had so much fun adding touches of fall to my home today (with football on in the background!). It would be really hard for me to pick a favorite month but if I was forced to it would be September. It always feels like a fresh start with kids back in school and there is so much to look forward to with fall and the holidays right around the corner. Plus I’m always motivated to get my house in order after a busy summer. I LOVE September. I’m going to really try to be present this month and just enjoy all it brings. Wishing the same for you! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

1 – RATTAN BATS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Rattan Bats

Happy Saturday! Just over here hanging with my rattan bats. Get it? Hanging? Bats? Sorry.. typing this past my bedtime. ;) Honestly though.. aren’t these bats fun!? I was planning on using them on my porch but they are so cute I think I’m going to have to use them inside. Either way it will be fun figuring it out this weekend and I’ll show you where they land!

2 – GHOST PRINTS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Ghost Wall Art, Similar Gold Frames (More options HERE)

My cute ghost prints landed in our guest bedroom. I’m not really into scary Halloween but cute Halloween like these adorable ghost prints? That I can get excited about!

(I snapped these pics quick with my phone so the paint is looking off! I’ll show better pics at some point.) :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Ghost Wall Art, Similar Gold Frames (More options HERE)

Talk about inexpensive, easy holiday decor. You can use these cute prints so many ways! I already had these frames hanging in my guest room and to make it even easier I just used painters tape and stuck them right on the outside of the frame! Took all of 5 minutes.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

You could also use one print in a frame on a nightstand or in a kitchen next to the salt and pepper or on a shelf in the living room. They would look cute anywhere!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Ghost Wall Art, Similar Gold Frames (More options HERE)

If you’re just using one or two the hard part will be choosing which print to use. They are all pretty adorable and I love the fall colors they bring into the room!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Ghost Wall Art, Similar Gold Frames (More options HERE)

Kole spends a lot of time in this bedroom because it’s close to the kitchen. He likes to read and do homework and talk to friends in this space so I thought it would be fun to decorate it for fall/Halloween this year for him and any guests we have. Since he’s my only child home at the moment he’s getting LOTS of attention from mom.

I know he just loves it. ;)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Ghost Wall Art, Gold Frames Pumpkin Lights/Comforter Bedding Set

This white bedding is the same bedding we put in El’s apartment bedroom. It has been perfect for summer but I’m thinking I’ll switch it out for the holidays and add some new lamps! More to come in this space.

3 – GLASS PUMPKINS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Walmart Pumpkin, Walmart Wide Pumpkin, Green Glass Pumpkin, Tall Glass Pumpkin, Round Glass Pumpkin

Along with bats and ghost prints these pumpkins are making a fun appearance for fall! Such a great price and they are so pretty!

4 – FALL LIGHTS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Pumpkin Lights/String Lights

I decided to try adding some lights inside and tried both my pumpkin lights and my favorite string lights I use during the holidays.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Tall Glass Pumpkin, Round Glass Pumpkin, Pumpkin Lights

So beautiful! Especially at night!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Walmart Pumpkin, Walmart Wide Pumpkin/String Lights

Love the string lights inside them too. Perfect for when it starts getting darker earlier. Nothing like cozy holiday lights!

5 – 27 YEARS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Kenny and I are celebrating 27 years of marriage this weekend! He took me to a nice dinner and they printed this on our menu.. so sweet! I saved it for a keepsake. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We at outside and it was such a beautiful night.

date-night (Sunny Side Up)

This pic was from a couple of months ago. My best friend and forever dinner date. :) Feeling pretty lucky that I get to do life with him. Now that our kids are getting older and moving out I’m especially grateful that we have always prioritized our marriage. It’s not easy with kids right!? Life is so busy and it takes work to stay connected. I don’t have all the answers, but what I have learned over the past 27 years (for us) is that it isn’t about the big trips or even the weekend dates but more about the little things every day. Phone calls and text messages and laughing together and a quick walk or a Costco run or a late night movie with just the two of us. Time to connect as a couple even if it’s just 15 minutes a day. It makes a difference! Something else I’ve found.. you know that advice about never going to bed mad? I think it’s horrible advice. Ha. We’ve found that if we’re feeling irritated with each other most of the time it’s just because we are so burned out and tired! If we just head to bed and talk the next morning suddenly things don’t seem so bad. Crazy what a good nights sleep can do. So there you go! Some marriage advice you didn’t ask for from someone who isn’t an expert. ;) Cheers to 27 years!

6 – MCGEE HOLIDAY ARRIVALS

Ok.. I know we JUST started talking fall and it’s way too early to talk Christmas (for some of you.. for me it’s NEVER too early) ;) but I have to share that Mcgee & Co came out with their holiday collection and ahhh! It’s so good! Her items sell fast so I rounded up some favorites below if you like to plan ahead!

Of course you know I’m obsessed with this Christmas tree and have two of them! The gold beads and bells are also long time favorites and everything else is sitting in my on-line cart. :)

That wraps up this week’s Saturday 6! Have the best weekend! I’m so excited to watch football. We’re in the middle of a heat wave but you better believe I’ll still be making taco soup and hanging my bats. ;)

Happy Sunday! Sharing favorites that are on sale this weekend and I’m kicking things off with this beloved candleholder! Which isn’t exactly on sale.. but it’s back in stock! Well a version of it is. (I’m reaching here but stick with me.. ha.) I wanted to share it before it’s gone because last year it sold out so quickly. It was so fun to use in the fall through the holidays last year! It’s beautiful on a table or a mantel. I use my favorite battery operated candles that turn on with a remote and a little putty to hold the candles straight and in place.

College Move In

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We made it to the long weekend and the official end of summer! As bummed as I am about my girls moving out, I do love this time of year with a little more of a schedule and structure and fun things always on the horizon to look forward to! I have so many fun ideas for fall! I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately but I can feel myself coming out of it and getting excited to decorate and work on my projects again. YEA for that. :)

Sharing a little re-cap of move in day and Ad’s dorm room! We snapped this pic above a couple of days before we took her to Texas.. last family dinner before college!

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

These 3. When did they grow up!?

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We ended up flying with the blue bags.. we just double bagged them all to be safe and only put clothes (soft items) inside.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Move in day! Ad was so excited and her fun energy helped me feel more excited! At her dorm/college we had a check in time at 9 am and we had to be done by around 5 pm because activities start for the kids and they wanted parents to say good-bye. We knew there would be no time for last minute Target/Walmart runs to get this or that so we had to have everything ready! We made a trip to Target the night before to get some larger things we didn’t have room for on the plane and her roommate’s sweet parents let us ship some items to them because they just live an hour away from the school and were driving. That saved us!

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)I snapped this picture waiting in the carpool line. There were so many groups of kids out cheering as the cars pulled in! They unloaded our bags and took everything up to the room.. her bags made it to the room before we did! Quite a system.. we were impressed and it was a such a fun welcome to her new home away from home.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We met her roommate’s sweet parents and all got to work unloading clothes and opening boxes.. no time to waste! BEFORE..

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Blue Comforter Set – comes in other colors too!}

and AFTER! These cute girls picked out everything themselves and planned the whole room and they did such a good job! We didn’t finish the room before Kenny and I had to leave. The rug was backordered so her roommate’s parents brought it and the headboards and a few other things a couple of days later (seriously so grateful for them!). But we got the girls mostly set up and ready.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Sleepyhead Mattress Topper}

I heard from friends that this was the best mattress topper so we tried it and Ad is loving it even more than her bed at home.. ha.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I wish I would have taken more pics of the mess happening during set up.. stuff everywhere! We actually made the bed last so that we could set items on her bed while we were putting everything away.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Dorm Room Bedskirts}

I didn’t snap a pic of under her bed either! We have a dresser and a couple of these organizers underneath for clothes and extras. I also put a little rug on the floor and we pushed her drawers back against the wall so Ad is also using this spot as a quick change area too. One of the first times being so short has paid off! ;)

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Bed Shelf}

This cute little bed shelf is perfect to hold her phone/alarm and water at night!

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Shoe Organizers}

We made the best use of her small closet and put shoes over the door. I forgot to get a pic of the inside of her closet but I was so grateful for the hangers I shared in this post! They were the only way to fit all of her hanging clothes.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Lunch break!

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Dry Erase Calendar}

We got these cute dry erase boards for over the girls’ desks. Ad has always liked wall calendars.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Dressers with Charging Station/Lamps}

We had these cute dressers that we planned to put in-between the two beds but because of the room layout we couldn’t put the beds side by side facing the same way so we put the dressers together between the two desks.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Snapped this before her roommate hung her calendar.. it turned out to be a cute work space for them!

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Fairy String Lights with Pictures}

Ad really wanted pictures of family and friends hanging by her bed and the command hooks were not working with me! I hung the string lights and they fell down. I hung them again and they fell again. I finally got them to stick (3rd time was a charm) so we’ll see if they last! So far Ad says we are still in business. :)

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Good-byes were hard.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We each hugged her and then we all 3 just hugged and cried for a few minutes. I felt sick to my stomach walking out of that door and driving away. We had to drive to Dallas that night for an early flight home the next morning and I don’t think I stopped crying! We all 3 had a rough/sad night but the next day Ad got up and got dressed and went to every single activity and by the end of the night she had already made so many new friends.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

By night 2 we were getting happy texts like this. They make me cry but happy tears! The BEST texts to get.

Also we don’t do much line dancing in San Diego.. ha.

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

All the FaceTime calls help so much too. Her roommate’s mom brought the headboards! :)

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

We flew home the next morning and had to shake off the physical/emotional exhaustion because it was time for round 2 with Ellie! She’s only 25 minutes away from us so MUCH less stressful and hard. I’m so grateful I still have her close! Snapped this pic quick loading the truck. She couldn’t leave behind these stuffed animals from friends. :)

College Move In (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Comforter Bedding Set}

We have been taking our time with her room. We got all of her things moved in and her bed ready quick before school started (this cute comforter set is the same set I have in my guest bedroom!). We added this bookshelf and this cute shower curtain a few days ago and are going to finish this weekend. Love that we’ll get to see El again and FaceTime Ad! It has only been one week with them both gone but wow.. I miss having them at the house. It feels so quiet! It’s definitely helping me to know that they are both off to such a great start and happy. I’m just taking things one day at a time over here. :)

There are so many good Labor Day sales going on and I’ve been working on a fun round-up post that I’ll share tomorrow! I’ll show you what I just ordered on sale too. Lots of my favorite things are marked down so we’ll talk soon. :) Thanks for all of your love and support. So many of you have reached out here or on IG with sweet encouraging messages or to say you are going through this hard stage with kids moving out too (or that you remember it well).. it means so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful to have you all in my life! Even if you’re a silent reader. We both know we’d be close friends in person. ;)

Have the best Saturday!

The Sunday Edit

Happy Sunday! What a week! We got Addison moved into her dorm for college and started moving Ellie into her apartment. It has been 4 nonstop days of packing and traveling and moving and organizing and tears (lots of tears!) and I am physically and emotionally exhausted. But also so happy and excited for my girls and the new adventures and experiences coming their way! I will share pics as soon as I can catch my breath and get a few groceries in our fridge. :) Until then enjoy this week’s round-up of favorites! So many great things for fall! I know I will have lots of hard moments in my quiet house over the next couple of months (I can’t walk past their empty bedrooms without bursting into tears) but I am so grateful fall is coming. This time of year always feels so special and I know that lighting a favorite pumpkin candle (this scent is my go-to!), getting my house in order and decorating it for fall, hearing the soothing sounds of football on the TV and planning fun things for our family when we can all be together will help me find happiness even when I’m feeling sad. I sincerely hope this new season brings comfort and joy to your home too. Thank you so much for being here. You are all part of my joy and therapy plan too even if you don’t know it. :) xo

Fall Fashion Favorites

*This post is sponsored by Walmart. All product selections and opinions are my own!

Walmart Fall Fashion (Sunny Side Up)

{Rib Knit Sweater/Faux Leather Pants/Early Fall Porch Sources}

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a good start! No Saturday 6 post today because Walmart dropped their new Fall line and it’s so good I didn’t want to wait to share it! I’m excited to show you a few of my favorites before they sell out. (Sidenote.. Addison took this picture of me on our porch and it made us laugh because my fall wreath looks like wings on my back. Gave us Maleficent vibes! Ha. Maybe an early Halloween costume idea!?)

Cute Brass Lamp (Sunny Side Up)

{Petal Shade Lamp}

Before I kick off the fashion I have to show you all this adorable lamp I bought for El’s new college room that’s also from Walmart! Isn’t it cute!? I love this fun petal look and ever since I opened it I have been trying to figure out where I could put one in my house! Just give me some time. If I love something enough I can ALWAYS make it work. You too? Sounds like we are all pretty skilled that way. ;)

Cute Mini Trench Dress (Sunny Side Up)

{Belted Utility Dress}

Ok.. on to the clothes! You know I love a good green dress and this style is right up my alley. It’s so flattering and comfortable and just effortless! It’s the kind of dress you wear and forget that you’re in a dress! Which is a good thing in my opinion. :) It has a casual vibe and is so cute with tall boots for fall. 10/10! It also comes in other colors and I’m debating getting the dark denim wash as well.

 Cream Denim Dress (Sunny Side Up)

{Midi Denim Shirt Dress}

Another cute casual dress! I love denim everything and this dress is such a fun and unique style. It’s also comfortable and flattering. I love that it’s different from anything else I own and can’t wait to wear it this fall!

Faux Leather Pants (Sunny Side Up)

{Ribbed Knit Sweater Bodysuit/Faux Leather Pants}

I don’t usually love bodysuits just because I don’t like feeling like I’m wearing a swimsuit under my clothes, but this one is so comfortable that I’m very excited about it! Really cute and I love the fun detail at the bottom of the sleeves. It comes in other colors too! The pants are also new favorites. I have a similar pair that I lived in last year during the holidays. They were a lot more expensive and I honestly like this pair from Walmart better!

Faux Leather Pants 2 (Sunny Side Up)

They are a little long on me so I’m going to wear them with heeled boots but such a cute fit and they are especially flattering in the back!

Short Sleeve Knit Top (Sunny Side Up)

{Rib Knit Sweater/Faux Leather Pants}

I bought this similar rib knit sweater (in green of course!) and love it with the pants too. It’s making me excited for fall and the holidays!

Button Down Top (Sunny Side Up)

{Cotton Cropped Button Down Shirt/Faux Leather Pants}

Last top with these cute pants. If you need a good basic white button up this is hands down my new favorite! It’s so cute tucked in! It’s very light weight and will be perfect for laying in the fall. Cute with a blazer over it for a dressy work look OR with a cute vest or jacket over it paired with jeans for a casual night out. I LOVE it.

Satin Lace Trim Dress (Sunny Side Up)

{Lace Trimmed Midi Dress}

Speaking of the holidays.. wouldn’t this dress be pretty in December!? Or any other fall/winter month!? It’s so beautiful! I love the lace lining… gives it such a feminine vibe. I also love the sleeves. It’s beautiful and also comes in black and I have a feeling it will sell out quickly!

Jumpsuit (Sunny Side Up)

{Cotton Cargo Jumpsuit}

Jumpsuits are also right up my alley and this cotton cargo jumpsuit was too fun to pass up! Very comfortable and it looks a lot more expensive that it is! I have several jumpsuits with a similar look and they are go-to’s for me because they are so comfortable, but look like a cute put together outfit. This is a nice quality, heavier material so it’s great for cooler weather although I’m not waiting to wear this one!

Denim + Puff Sleeve Top (Sunny Side Up)

{Eyelet Sleeve T Shirt/Hi Rise Cuffed Ankle Jeans}

Not waiting on this outfit either since I’ve already worn it twice in the short week I’ve had it. :) Such a cute eyelet top! And these jeans are a 10/10 for fit, style and comfort. They are popular and going fast!

Mattress Cover (Sunny Side Up)

Quick heads up also that our padded mattress topper is back in stock and on sale. We have absolutely loved this! As soon as I saw it was marked down I ordered one for Kole’s bed and one for Ellie’s college bed. I would have bought one for Addison but already ordered her something different. I know if you get one you’ll love it too. Walmart wins! Lots of them this month. They also released some new fall decor and I’m sharing a few things I have my eye on below. I can’t wait to do more decorating! Fall decorating and fall fashion.. two things that definitely bring a smile to my face!

I might need to light my pumpkin candle this weekend. :)

Sunday Edit

Happy Sunday! Sharing so many fun things for fall this week! The Walmart new arrivals and fall tablescape inspo are making me so excited! Especially that green chair. I keep trying to figure out where I could put it. SWOON. I always love seeing what you’re loving too! I’m so happy my linen closet makeover gave you some ideas. I love the organizers I used for that and if you ordered some I know you will too! Addison and I made major progress packing up her room Saturday so today we get to relax and spend some time with the family. We are making the most of the next few days with all 5 of us together! I hope you are able to find some time to relax and be with your loved ones today too. Have a great start to your week!

Saturday 6

1 – FALL STEMS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Vase/Branches/Acacia Bowl

Happy Saturday! I haven’t done much fall decorating but I thought I’d share a few fun things I’m starting to style. We move the girls next week! I’ve been focusing a lot on getting things ready and spending time with them and my emotions are all over the place. One minute I’m so excited and happy for them and the next I’m in a puddle of tears. I have a feeling it will be this way for a while so I’m going to have to just roll with it. And try to distract myself with lots of organizing and decorating. :) These turning maple branches are so full and beautiful! I just have two stems in this vase and love the look so much. They make me excited for football to start!

2 – DISH DRYING RACK

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Dish Drying Rack/Potted Leaf Plant/Faux Lavender/Pedestal

I’ve had this dish drying rack for a while.. so handy! It’s perfect for when I just need to wash a few things by hand that I don’t put in the dishwasher.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I love that it sits so easily over the sink and it rolls up and is easy to store when I’m not using it.

Dish Drying Rack

Sometimes I just set it on the counter quick too because my dishes dry so much faster when I use it. Just a little thing that makes life easier. :)

3 – FALL PILLOW

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)Belgian Linen Pillow/Embroidered Throw Pillow

This green embroidered pillow is so pretty! I was shopping with a friend when I saw it and while I was swooning over it she said “it is pretty and it looks like you! Similar to one you have..” Why yes.. yes it is. Similar to my beloved floral quilted pillow. Clearly I’m easy to read. :)

4 – FALL STYLING

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Pumpkin Wood Board/Decorative Tray/Faux Eucalyptus/Pumpkin Candle/Utensil Crock/Salt Mill

Happy little fall moment on my kitchen tray.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I keep moving this pumpkin board around because it looks cute in so many places!

 5– FALL LOOK

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Corduroy Jacket/Corduroy Pants/Booties

This jacket was a favorite from the N sale and it sold out before I even had time to share it. Back in stock and I know it will go fast. It’s such a cute and comfortable fit! I love it so much I bought it in both colors. Website says it runs slightly small but I bought it in my true size and it fits great.

6 – LIFE

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Sharing a little dose of life lately! My baby started high school. I know some of you have been with me reading since Kole was born.. how in the world are we here!? I snapped this quick right before he got out of the car on the first day. Then I blew him a kiss.. super fast so nobody would see! I didn’t want to embarrass him on day one. I’ll wait for day two for that. Then I drove home and cried the whole way. I can’t think of a first day of school that I haven’t cried so why break tradition now! He had a great first week and even though I’m sad about my girls moving out, I’m excited to have lots of time for this one.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

I didn’t have time to get too buried in my first day of school feelings because soon after drop off it was time to meet friends for a little party. Isn’t this pool gorgeous!? Looking out the window here.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

One of my close friends turned 50 (she’s the one in the crown!) and we planned a fun spa day to celebrate. We kicked off the day in shirts with her face on them for yoga.. ha.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Then enjoyed a spa treatment..

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

and pool time! We ordered lunch by the pool and just ate outside relaxing and catching up. Not a bad way to spend the first day of school. I highly recommend planning something fun with mom friends after drop off! Why haven’t we been doing this for years. :)

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

I wanted to share this fun idea for a birthday. When I turned 40 my friends made me a “40 things we love about Erin” sign all sharing different things they love about me and it’s one of my most treasured gifts! It meant so much to me so I made one for my friend’s 5oth. I love this idea for a big birthday! I decided to make it BIG and printed it 20×24 and then put it in this frame. My friend (above) ordered cute bags and then I filled them with some pool essentials for a little gift sack. Birthday girl felt loved and we had a great day.. mission accomplished!

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Another fun birthday celebration for a friend! There was a bigger group at lunch and about 10 of us showed up in white shirts! We laughed at this pic looking like my friend Ann’s bridesmaids.. ha.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Last summer birthday at a favorite restaurant in Coronado! If you ever visit make sure to stop at The Henry! Such good food and a fun vibe.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Then roast marshmallows on the beach! I’ve done this several times and it never gets old. You can rent fire pits by the hour. Such a cozy way to spend time together.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Grateful for all of my beautiful friends! Especially this year. Several of us are sad/struggling right now with kids moving out and it has been the best to have each other to lean on. I remember being a mom of young kids and needing my friends then too. I can’t imagine life without good girl friends! So worth the effort at every stage of life.

Summer (Sunny Side Up)

Spending time with friends at the Hotel Del? That’s just the icing on the cake.

:)

Have a beautiful weekend!

Organized Linen Cupboard

*This post is sponsored by Wayfair. All products selections and opinions are my own!

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Hello hello! SO pumped about today’s post! I get pretty excited about a good before and after and I have just that for you today! I’ve been ordering organizing products and home decor from Wayfair for years so when they reached out to partner on a post I knew exactly what I wanted to do! (They are doing 5 days of deals at the moment!) I don’t know if I’ve ever shared a picture of this full linen cupboard before or not!? I had it built custom in the hallway going into our master bedroom when we built our home. It’s right across from our master bathroom which is why I added a mirror on the front cupboard for a quick outfit check as I’m walking out the door!

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

If you didn’t recognize this spot before, close the bathroom door behind me and zoom in and now you do! Ha. It’s the mirror I use for my fashion selfies. What I know I haven’t shown you is the inside of this cupboard.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{BEFORE}

For good reason! It has held so many things through the years and it has always been a mess! I never took time to organize it and it’s usually stuffed with all sorts of extras. I took this pic after pulling some linens out.. it’s usually even more stuffed full than this! I have wanted to make it a true linen cupboard that holds sheets and towels for years. I started going through bedding to find things for the girls to take to college and realized that our sheets were spread out all through the house and it was time to do something about this space and consolidate!

Ready to see the after and hear the angels? :)

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{AFTER}

I mean.. can you even believe it’s the same cupboard!? Even Kenny (who pays NO attention whatsoever to my constant re-arranging around here) walked by and said “Wow! I’ve never seen this cupboard look that good!” I’m thrilled he actually noticed and even more thrilled to have this project done! If I’m being honest the reason I’ve put it off for so long is because it always felt like it would be SO MUCH WORK. And I’m not going to lie.. it took me the good part of two days. But it wasn’t at all as bad as I thought it would be! First I pulled everything out and into my bedroom.. stuff was everywhere but it felt good to look at the cupboard with a clean slate! Then I cleaned off all the shelves.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Next I started rounding up all of our sheets! These are just some of them. I laid down a blanket in the family room and tossed them all in a big pile and then turned on a movie and started sorting and folding. (*Pro organizing tip – make your project more fun by doing what you can in front of the TV. Add popcorn for best results.) Are the reindeer sheets making anyone else excited for Christmas!? Just me? Ok.. moving on. :)

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)Bed Sheet Organizers

These bed sheet organizers made the biggest difference.. talk about a game changer. I’m obsessed! You just fold your sheet set and place it in the middle (no perfect folding necessary!).

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)Bed Sheet Organizers

Then bring the side panels together and zip.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)Bed Sheet Organizers

Then fold the top and bottom over and they velcro!

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)Bed Sheet Organizers

This is the stuff dreams are made of. :) Seriously though.. how smart! I labeled all of my sheets and they are all together in sets now.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)Bed Sheet Organizers

LOVE these organizers and I love the black! They are such nice quality and were so easy to use. You can store all sorts of linens inside of them. The bottom row is all of my seasonal bedding. Thinking I’ll order one more set while they are on sale because I can fit a couple more on these shelves and use extras in Kole’s bedroom. LOVE them! After my sheets were organized I went through things and made a pile to donate and put the items I wanted to keep in this space in baskets and bins.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog){Bed Sheet Organizers, Rattan Baskets, Acrylic Shelf Dividers}

I mentioned these rattan baskets over the weekend. Long time favorites that I have in most closets in my home! I love how deep they are for closets and cupboards. They hold a lot and always look beautiful.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog){Bed Sheet Organizers, Rattan Baskets, Acrylic Shelf Dividers, Fabric Box Set}

These fabric boxes with lids are also beautiful! I’m using them to hold keepsakes and items I don’t need to use as often. I have seasonal towels and extras in the baskets on the sides.

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog) {Acrylic Shelf Dividers, Stacking Organizer Bins}

These acrylic shelf dividers stack and are perfect when you’re short on space. I actually bought these to send with my girls to college and had some extras so using them to hold towels. They will be so perfect for their dorms where we can stack 4-6 to make a tower for clothes or other items!

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I placed extra bedding we use in our bedroom at the top..

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog){Rattan Baskets, Acrylic Shelf Dividers}

Then I used these acrylic shelf dividers for my white hand towels. Love these dividers! They are perfect to seperate and organize clothes, towels, handbags, whatever you need on a closet shelf!

Other side.. same set up. :)

Wayfair Organized Linen Cupboard (Sunny Side Up Blog)

{Bed Sheet Organizers, Rattan Baskets, Acrylic Shelf Dividers, Plastic Desk Organizers, Stacking Organizer Bins, Acrylic Shelf Dividers, Fabric Box Set}

I can’t tell you how amazing this feels! The best part is the 4 rattan baskets in the middle are empty! I’m going to use those to store smaller Christmas gifts for my crew. I’ll label each basket with their names and have a place to hide things (don’t tell!). :) I’m so happy to have this closet organized and functioning better for our family! I had so many items in this closet that we don’t even use anymore. It felt good to donate and make space for what we are using! Organizing my sheets this way saved so much space so that I can use the shelves for other things. Feeling good about this one! Angels approve and so did my husband.

I can’t ask for much better than that.

:)

Below are a few more favorites for organizing and fall decorating from Wayfair!

(I ordered the cute little mail desk organizer, and this pumpkin board too!)
