long time favorite pic around here!

It’s time for Sunday 6! On a Monday! Is that what day it even is!? Who knows in the summer. :) I hope you all had good Father’s Day weekend celebrating the amazing dads in your life! We had such a nice day spoiling this one. I asked him what he wanted to do for Father’s Day and he said “the same things I do most weekends.. Friday night dinner with friends, clean the fish tank (he keeps it immaculate), wash/get gas for the cars (he keeps those immaculate too – has his 3 girls’ cars on rotation every weekend), air fry some chicken, hit the gym, go on a walk with you, take a Sunday nap, and hang out with the family.”  So that’s exactly what he did. :) We did take some time to all 5 sit down together and talk about all the things we love about him. El, Ad and I ended up in tears with our mascara running pretty quickly! The way he shows up for each one of us every single day.. and keeps us laughing while he does it! We just couldn’t be more grateful. Truly the best husband and dad and I don’t know how my girls will ever get married! The bar has been set SO HIGH. Actually our girls not getting married for quite a while is probably a bonus happy Father’s Day gift for Kenny so maybe that was the plan all along.. ;)

I feel like I have so many fun things to share and there is never enough time in the summer! Grab some popcorn because this is a lot of pics playing catch up!

1 – FRUIT FOR THE WIN

Every summer I have that “I can’t keep up” feeling. I can’t keep up with all I want to share on the blog/IG, all I want to do around the house, all I want to do with the kids, all I want to do with friends and family. It’s so busy in the best way! I have perfectionist tendencies (in case you haven’t noticed that about me yet.. ha) so sometimes that “I can’t keep up” feeling is hard for me. But when you have 3 kids (really any amount of kids!) you get that feeling a lot and I’ve learned to be more ok with it. I let go of a lot and just try to do a few things that make me feel better.

Cleaning out my fridge out weekly in the summer makes me feel better! Every weekend I take everything out and wipe off the shelves. It’s never perfect and we are hit and miss with groceries because we use the air fryer or get take out a lot in the summer.

Then after I clean the fridge shelves I wash and cut up some fruit for the week ahead. It’s a little thing but it helps with that “I can’t keep up” feeling. Every time I open the fridge I feel better! Also it doesn’t take long to do at all if I’m doing it weekly. My house is a mess during the summer. But I’ve learned that if my fridge is clean and I’m mostly caught up on laundry I can let the rest go!

2 – JEANS ON REPEAT

These jeans have quickly become such a favorite! They are supposed to be a bit cropped but fit full length on me (I’m 5’3 1/2 for reference). They are high waisted and work with lots of shorter/cropped summer tops. They also have a slight barrel shape which I love because it’s not so exaggerated like a lot of barrel jeans. The best part is that they were just marked down to a crazy good price for Paige jeans!

These pretty earrings in white gold have also been on repeat! I bought them for a wedding and then basically never took them off. :)

We got a new outdoor rug! That looks almost identical to the previous outdoor rug. :)

The rug we had in this space was from Target (maybe 5 years old?) and it was showing a lot of wear and tear. I still loved the navy/stripe so I looked for something similar and fell hard for this stripe rug from West Elm. It’s so soft and beautiful in person!

I usually don’t use a rug pad in this space but decided to try it to see if it helps with drainage when the rug gets wet.

4 – OUTDOOR DECOR

Then I added a few other touches to get ready for the 4th! I found this cute bucket on Amazon and added two pots of these beautiful bouvardia flowers. The flowers look so pretty and realistic on their own! I’m excited to take them out of the bucket and use them in my home after the 4th too.

I added a few other favorite plants. These topiaries look so real inside of a pot!

Also more of my favorite faux hydrangeas because I can’t get enough of them this summer! It’s a dream to not have to water them too. 

I put another topiary ball tree next to the grill in a basket. They added some life to this space!

I came across this summer porch from a few years ago and thought I would share it too!

Addison kicked off her summer with a two week trip to Africa. She went with a group of pre-med students from her college and they were able to work in the hospital and in schools with the kids. While she was there she turned 20! El and I wanted her to know we didn’t forget about her birthday so we picked her up at the airport in style. :)

It was a happy reunion! We all laughed and cried hearing about her trip. The sweetest stories with the kids she worked with. I’m so grateful she got to experience it all. Also grateful she made it home safe! It’s hard enough having kids in different states. When they leave the country without us I feel like I’m holding my breath until they get back!

Unfortunately for Ad after a quick birthday celebration and couple days to recover from her trip she had to head to the hospital for knee surgery.

The same knee surgery I had about 8 years ago. It’s a genetic issue and Ad is the only one of my kids who got it from me which doesn’t surprise any of us. Seems she got a lot of me passed down! Ha. At the time of my surgery El was in high school and busy with dance so Ad took over and didn’t leave my side! She came home from school every day and took care of me. My surgery recovery is when I first showed her Gilmore Girls and we’ve watched that series about a hundred times together since. So this summer I’m going to take care of her like she took care of me. Happily passing the terminator knee brace down along to the next generation.

I got her home from surgery and the ice machine going and then on Sunday it was time to put her and Kenny down for their afternoon nap. Baseball always seems to do the trick! So if you need us for the next few weeks we’ll be over here enjoying dinner outside and LOTS of good movies.

Gilmore Girls we stay awake for. ;)

1 – EL GRADUATED!

Happy Sunday! Fun summer decor in today’s post, but I have to quickly share a couple of pics from El’s college graduation! I mean.. if it’s not on the blog did it even happen!? ;) We are so proud of her and had the best weekend celebrating with all of her sweet friends! I can’t believe how quickly the past 4 years flew by.

I wanted a simple flag print for my console table this year and came up with some cute design options! I was having a hard time choosing between grey and tan for the stripe background so now we have both. :) You can download all print options in 3 different sizes – horizontal prints that are 10×8, 14×11 and 16×12 and vertical prints that are 8×10, 11×14 and 12×16. Print one and put it in a frame and there you go! Easy summer decor. You can download them HERE. :)

4 – SUMMER BANNER

I’ve been doing a few small things in the yard to get it ready for summer. I ordered this cute bow garland to hang over the fireplace and loved it even more than I thought I would. I added some simple silver stars and now I don’t want to ever take this down! The stars shine in the sun and it makes me so happy to see them glistening through my windows during the day.

The bow banner arrived pretty wrinkled and I went to pull out my little steamer that I usually use and it was gone. I remembered El took it to her apartment to use so I opened up this steamer that has been sitting in a box since Christmas! Kenny gave it to me as a gift and at the time I kind of laughed and said a steamer!? You know I have one! He said “I know but some of the women at my office were talking about how much they love this one and you’re always steaming things..”  It kind of made me laugh at the time (random!) but I have to say that I can see why people were talking about this! It’s really good and so easy to use. I had my bows steamed and looking amazing in a couple of minutes! I still love my little go – to steamer, but you can tell this new option is higher quality. Sometimes my smaller steamer spits water out (especially if you fill it past the fill line!) and with this one I didn’t see a drop. It also works a little quicker and can be used as an iron. Both are good options but I had to share my love for this one after using it! Good job after all Kenny. ;)

We can’t have pool towels without a few new pool floats! I ordered this little air pump when I couldn’t find the one I used last year. It has so many good reviews I decided to try it and I can see why it’s a favorite! It’s so small but packs a big punch.

You know I love a good flamingo or swan floating around the pool! Is it even summer without one!? This swan is the COOLEST. It’s solar! It chargers all day from the sun and then glows at night. It switches different colors and is so beautiful floating on the water. I couldn’t wait to watch and see if it worked the first night and was so excited when it lit up.. ha! Kole was pretty impressed too. I’ll snap some night pics soon. Our favorite purchase of the summer so far!

I’m looking at a few pillow options for our lounge chairs and will share them soon. Having an umbrella in this spot has been so nice because I can swing it over to shade the hot tub which is where I spend most of my time!

I’m excited to have them in white because I can use them with so many different tables. They are the cutest chargers and nice quality for the price!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and a good Mother’s Day! New furniture cushions are on and El and I spent most of the day planted right here! I will show you more/better pics of the cushions soon when I get my pillows back on. I’ve been having so much fun with Ellie the past few weeks. She graduates from college this weekend! I can’t believe how quickly those 4 years flew by. I’m so proud of her. She is moving back home for a year before she goes on to more school (getting internship hours she needs for the graduate program) and I CAN’T WAIT. It will be so nice having her home with us for a year and not being outnumbered by the boys!

“Smile” and this is what I get with these two.. ha.. Addison come home!!! ;) We really are all missing Ad and counting down until she is home for summer too. Summer has taken on a whole new level of happy for me finally getting my kids all home together under one roof. It’s time!

Large rugs are such a big investment and I knew we would have this for years so I spent a lot of time looking at options for this room. I’m thrilled to have a rug I love so much in this space! 3 – CUSHIONS ARRIVED

In other fun home update news our new outdoor cushions arrived! You might remember when I picked out fabric for them back in February! I about died when the boxes started showing up..

DID NOT picture it being so many! But some of them are just holding one or two cushions. They are from RH and they have a service that will come next week to put the cushions out on our outdoor furniture and then they take the old cushions and all the boxes with them. I’m so grateful because Kenny and Kole break down enough boxes for me every week! They might have cried if I presented them with this mess.. ha! I will share how they look as soon as I get them all set up!

A big garage clean out is also on the upcoming agenda around here. It’s such a mess right now! I still have some Christmas item that need to be put up in our attic space above the garage. Kenny had shoulder surgery a while back so anything that required him lifting was put on hold. He’s feeling good again and it’s time! I started a few things this weekend and next weekend we are going to knock out the rest. I’ve been spring cleaning like crazy around here and will share my progress soon!

4 – FAKE BOOKS FOR THE WIN

Last time I was visiting family in Utah my mom, sister-in-law and I had a genius idea to all go on a Costco run together. Kenny and I had our truck with plenty of room in the back for the drive back to SD so I thought great! I can save myself a trip when I’m home. It wasn’t until the drive after Costco that we realized what a NOT so good idea it was to try to fit groceries for all 3 families into one car. Just the toilet paper alone took up most of the space! We were cracking up trying to fit it all in the car and I ended up scrunched in the back with the food while we laughed the whole way home. GOOD TIMES. :)

While I was visiting I also snapped pics of my sister-in-law’s cute living room! Love how she styled her shelves.

Especially in love with these new items! Cutest oil and vinegar jars and the little lamp has 3 settings (this is the lowest). It creates such cozy ambiance in the kitchen at night!

On the other side of the cooktop I styled this little set up. The wooden tray is an Amazon find and I love the braided handles! It’s a perfect size to hold a few kitchen essentials. The flower arrangement is such a favorite.

This woven bowl sits perfectly in the corner holding more lemons/limes for water.. and Diet Coke of course.

Happy Sunday! It’s that time right!? Time to start thinking about summer and all things outdoors! I love giving our outdoor spaces a good deep cleaning every spring. El snapped this pic of me while she was laying out by the pool and sent it to me. Don’t mind me over here in my happy place watching dirt disappear off of my outdoor cushions.. ha.

Brass Hose Nozzle

I was too lazy to get out the power washer or soap this year so I just sprayed them off. I use this hose nozzle all the time to spray off the patio areas and cushions and it works so well!

If I need to really scrub them clean I get a bucket and fill it about half full with a few squirts of mild dish soap and around a cup of Borax. I only fill this bucket 1/4 full because it’s huge! This year just water with my power nozzle did the trick.

These cushions I can only spot clean and they will be replaced soon! We’ve had them over 13 years and it’s time. I pulled everything out of this space and scrubbed this area clean too. I sprayed off my rug and pillows and ottomans and let them dry in the sun.

It felt so good to put everything back nice and clean!

Also lemons! I’ve been swimming in them since the bridal shower and I’m not mad about it. You can never have too many lemons. Or cute rattan bowls to hold them. :)

I still adore these outdoor side tables! I ordered a couple of new outdoor pillows I’m waiting on with the new cushions that I’ll share when everything arrives.

I ended up moving my blue Home Depot rug under my furniture on the back porch and put this cute stripe rug here. I had to get one for myself after I saw how cute it was on my mom’s front porch!

We planted a few things in this garden area that I’m patiently waiting to fill in!

Love the sound of this fountain! We have a few frog friends that have always lived in it and in the past couple of months they’ve spread the word to every frog in the area that it’s a cool place to hang so we’re currently trying to find ways to make this spot a little less appealing! We wanted our yard to be the teen hang out spot, but the noise coming from these frogs is worse than anything our kids and their friends could have hit us with.. ha.

They click on a timer around 5 pm and give such a warm, cozy glow that I can see through the windows at night.

I’m excited to add a few more small updates to our backyard and even more excited to enjoy time outside with family and friends!

I hope you’re having a good week! The other night I realized I had an evening to myself because Kenny was in San Francisco for work and Kole had things going on at the school until late. Hmmm.. what’s a girl to do with a whole evening alone!? Head to Target of course! Ha. I had the best night! The weather was so beautiful and it had that smell in the air.. like summer is coming! I listened to 80’s and 90’s music the whole drive there and back which just put me in the best mood.

and then a pic of my haul. OH MY WORD. This might be the best summer collection to date. I didn’t even know it had come out yet but I lucked out hitting the store at the perfect time!

New Area Rug (sidenote.. loving my new rug! Will take better pics soon!)

I picked up the Chick-fil-A market salad (a favorite lately) on the way home and enjoyed dinner watching what I wanted (no baseball) and then styled a few of my fun new finds in the kitchen! Pretty perfect evening if I do say so myself. :) I will share some of what I bought styled soon but we all know how quickly Target drops sell out! When I saw how cute everything was I snapped pics in the store to show you my favorites. Honestly EVERYTHING was a favorite! Ha! I did my best to narrow it down.
