I hope your week is off to a good start! Last week of August! Summer is definitely winding down and we are back in a routine at our house.. or trying to be in one anyway. :) We said good-bye to Ad last week which is always followed by a day of tears for me. I keep thinking saying good-bye to my college kids will get easier but it’s always so hard! You get them home for a while and remember how fun it is to have them around more.. and then they leave again (sigh). I will say that I do bounce back quicker and that’s a good thing. So for any of you going through this for the first time it does get easier! Never easy.. but easier. Sending a huge hug your way!

I woke up so motivated today.. I feel like the start of a new school year is more of a January for me than January actually is! I’m getting some things in order and will share more on that soon but kicking today off with my organized summer decor.

Including my cute bow banner. :) These candle holders are favorites for every season but I have so many of them (I use LOTS at for Christmas!) that I’m going to keep my gingham bow set just for summer.

I love that I can open this cupboard and so quickly see what I have for summer hosting vs. having things all over the house in different places. Will be a dream next summer! My goal is to keep the middle section for sheets and linens (items I was using this space for before) and then I want to use the right cupboards to hold Halloween/Fall/Valentines hosting decor (if I can fit it all!). I’ll get that organized after those holidays this year.

Love a good organizing project to kick off a new school year! It always inspires more.

A few pics from summer! We have been all about Padres baseball this summer (and every summer!). I picked up fun shirts for my crew and my brother’s family because my nephews love the Padres almost as much as Kenny does. :)

Two fun things to put on your itinerary next time you visit San Diego! Pizza at Hotel Del and then rent a fire pit on the beach for the night.

Fall is right around the corner (yay!) and I’ve been thinking about how I want to decorate my porch this year. I thought I’d share some Fall/Halloween porch ideas from previous years if you are in the same boat and gathering ideas. I never underestimate the power of a welcoming front door! When I have something happy out it always brightens my mood. Even if it’s simple.. a cute rug and a few pumpkins! That’s all you need for an instant upper when you come home each day. Last year I was all about the ghosts! So cute and I love the coordinating BOO rug.

I layered it over this cute plaid and jute rug and had questions all fall about the rug sizes so sharing those below if you want a layered look like this!

Last year I wanted my ghosts brighter so I ordered these spotlights and stacked one on a tall vase to reach to the head of my tallest ghost!

Cans of food held my ghosts in place. We’re pretty technical around here.. ha.

But look how those ghosts lit up! You could see them coming up the road to my house. The spotlights could be used so many ways for holiday decorating so I wanted to share them again!

Stacking pumpkins is always a fun idea.

So is a chalkboard with easy do-it-yourself Halloween art! You’ll be surprised at how easy it is and how skilled you feel when you’re done. Sometimes in life we have to be our own biggest cheerleader right? ;) I hope these pictures gave you a few ideas for your porch this year! You really don’t have to go over the top! GIRL DINNER Ad and I have been loving this summer

Happy Sunday! We are enjoying our last weekend of summer before the routine begins. Kole starts his Junior year of high school Tuesday (wild!) and we have one more week with Addison home before she heads back to Texas. I have such mixed feelings – sad that summer is over and I’m always sad when Ad leaves, but also ready for a routine and the joy that fall brings. Ellie is living at home with us for a year and I’m thrilled about that! Plus September is on the horizon and it’s such a favorite month. August has become a transition month for us during this stage of life with kids always leaving for college. By September I usually feel like myself again and it’s like a New Year reset with all the kids back at school. I’m always inspired to organize my home and set new goals. Football starts and the “ber” months are so fun to plan for! Fun things on the horizon. :)

Happy August! I hope your month is off to a good start! Summer is winding down and we just got back from a quick trip to Texas to start moving Ad.. again! (My little travel blow dryer goes with me everywhere and is still on sale!) 

She’s moving into the cutest house with sorority friends but it’s completely empty! We have her home for two more weeks but went to get a jump start on her room and to measure for furniture placement in the living room so the girls can work on that. Nothing is finished but we are off to a good start!

We didn’t know how much space she would have in her bedroom so we picked out a bed and nightstand and had them shipped the same time we were there. We rented a truck and picked things up and then moved everything out of storage that she was using last year and hauled it all to the new place. Texas is toasty right now so we definitely got a good workout in moving her stuff in the heat.. ha.

Ad and I picked out some cute furniture from Wayfair and love the bed! It has two drawers at the end for storage and a plug for charging things on the top of the headboard. Perfect for college life!

We ordered the mattress from Wayfair too! It came in a sealed bag and is a definite upgrade from the bed in her apartment last year so she’s excited.

I couldn’t resist! Definitely taking advantage of having a daughter in Waco and going as much as possible during these 4 years. :)

We had such a fun little outing visiting all of the shops again and touring this beautiful restored church!

Daybreak / Gathered

This trip we picked up some Magnolia candles and OH MY WORD we have been missing out! These two scents (Daybreak and Gathered) are SO GOOD! Trust me on this and read the reviews! Daybreak is such a good every day smell and perfect for spring/summer. I bought one for Ad to put in her new kitchen or bathroom. I bought Gathered to bring home. It’s fall perfection and I can’t wait for my house to smell like it! Something to look forward to when the kids all go back to school.

Ad is moved in enough to get started and we will order a few more things to ship and finish during our next visit and I’ll get better pics. Crazy how quickly this time of year rolls around again isn’t it!? I hope you’re enjoying the rest of your summer! Lots of good things to come. :)

We are moving Ellie in and getting ready to move Ad out.. again! The blue bags are taking over the upstairs and we are in a MESS. But we’ll get there. I’m not excited for Ad to leave us again, but I’m definitely getting excited for a routine and all things FALL. I love the “ber” months so it makes me happy that they are around the corner!

1 – FALL –  SEEING AND LOVING

I haven’t started decorating for fall yet but I’m getting excited to start! I pulled out my flameless pumpkin candle and a few other things from storage. I used these pumpkin lights last year to light all of my decorative pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns and ordered a few more for this year. I also used these LED puck lights to light everything up on my front porch and they worked so well. I’m seeing so many cute things on-line this year! These Terracotta Bat Cutout Pumpkins are so cute from PB and I found these that are similar on Amazon! They also have these black terracotta jack-o-lanterns on Amazon this year that look just like this version I have (also from PB). These ghost candles are fun and this hanging swing ghost might be one of the cutest fall front porch ideas EVER. Last year I had my eye on these Halloween dessert plates from Anthro and found similar this year on Amazon here! Amazon has been game on with less expensive look a likes. If you’re looking for something cute for the kitchen (or for a cute fall gift!) this ghost marble board is darling!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! As a local I’ve always said I would never go to the beach on the 4th of July, but some friends went early to set up a tent and umbrellas so we braved the crowds!

Hi girls. :) It was the first time we’ve tried this (we booked with Flagship Cruises) and we heard it was smart to go really early to get a good seat. The wait was long but..

Gingham Dress

Enter the party crew! We had so much fun chatting and laughing for hours. Everyone dressed so cute too! I LOVE this gingham dress for summer. I ordered some red shoe/white sweater options to go with it for the 4th and will share what I’m keeping when everything arrives. Below are other fun clothes options I’m loving for the 4th!

Katy and I threw this get together pretty quickly and are hoping to host more dinners in the future with lots more friends when we have time to organize things better! I truly believe that planning ways to spend quality time with close friends is one of the best gifts you can give yourself (and your friends!).

I snapped this at night while I was cleaning up! The candles looked so pretty I didn’t want to bring them inside. I had to laugh at my solar swan floating around the pool. He needs some air and was tipping a bit to the left and looked a little like I felt.

Prime Days is here again! What would we do without Amazon right!? Probably have a lot more money in our pockets.. ha. But seriously! Being able to order things you love and need and use and have them delivered so quickly without having to run to the store is such a gift!
