Weekend Sales

Presidents' Day Sale (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Happy Valentine’s Day weekend! I hope you are having a good one this year and spending time with people you love! I had a bit of a crazy/not great week to be honest and have been so grateful for this long weekend and some time with Kenny and good friends to recover. We have been enjoying some sun too which always feels glorious this time of year! Next week we are supposed to get a lot of rain which always makes me in the mood to organize so I’m planning on wrapping up some spaces I’ve been working on and overall just having a better week! Right now everything in my house is half finished and a bigger mess than what I started with.. ha. Good times. I’m also planning to re-fresh a few rooms in my house this year so I have been especially excited about the President’s Day sales this weekend! There are always so many good home finds marked down! I rounded up some things I’m loving on sale and a few of your favorites from last week below. Sending love and a Valentine’s day hug to you all!

Saturday 6

1 – KITCHEN WINDOW

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Happy Saturday from me and my morning kitchen window! I hope you had a lovely week. :)

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

I’m just over here making dish scrubbing a little more enticing. It’s the little things!

2 – CROCKPOT CHICKEN CHILI

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Ok.. I have a GOOD recipe for you today! In true Erin fashion it’s pretty simple and involves tossing everything in a crockpot. :) I can’t remember where I landed on this Crockpot Chicken Chili but I made it and thought it was so good and even better.. my boys thought it was SO GOOD. This is all you need:
– 2 to 3 chicken breasts
– 1 can of black beans
– 1 can of corn
– I can of rotel
– 1 packet of ranch seasoning
– 1 block of cream cheese
– onion powder, ground cumin and chili powder (season with a few shakes of each!)
I usually add 4 chicken breasts and double everything just so that it feeds my boys for a while!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

*Toss everything in the crockpot (it will look gross.. ha) and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours. At some point after the chicken is done take the chicken out and use this chicken shredder to shred it. Or you can shred it without, but trust me this thing is GOLD and will do it so fast and smooth! Put the chicken back in and stir everything together and you are ready to eat! Add some chips or cheese or any toppings you want.

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

A delicious way to get your protein!

3 – PODCAST EPISODE

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Since this is the month of all things LOVE I had to share this podcast episode! I love so many of Mel’s podcast episodes but this one was especially good. Such great advice to help with any and all relationships. I had lunch with a few friends and we had all listened to it and talked about it the entire lunch! So many good tips and insights. If you’re driving or cleaning and want something to listen to this is a good one!

4 – HEART PLATES

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

I made this for my boys last weekend and it made them smile. :) Cute February serveware on sale!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

This is a fun idea for the family on Valentine’s Day morning. My kids still love their heart waffles!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Red Heart Tray (similar)

Valentine’s Day pretzel hugs are always a fun treat for friends and neighbors too! Make an extra batch for you to snack on because you ate your healthy protein crockpot meal and deserve a snack. :)

5 – ORGANIZED FRIDGE

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Egg Dispenser, Deli Meat Storage, Pizza Storage, Veggie Tray Snackle Box, Snackle Box Duo, Fridge Storage Containers

I snapped this pic after I cleaned my fridge out a couple of weeks ago. Just like my bathroom drawers I did a major deep clean and took everything out and scrubbed all the shelves. Felt so good! I have kept it clean since and it makes me happy every time I open it. Sharing some of my favorite fridge organizers again. These have been my go-to’s for a while now!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

I’m still loving these containers for food storage and this drawer has been a breeze to keep organized!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Fridge Storage Containers

These bins are perfect to hold items like yogurt.

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Veggie Tray Snackle Box

These snack boxes are still my favorite!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Veggie Tray Snackle Box

I try to prep some healthy snacks every time I get groceries (usually twice a week with just the 3 of us) and love these because I can grab a tray and take it when I’m on the go.

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Snackle Box Duo

These are great too and I usually take the trays out of one to hold our lettuce!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Deli Meat Storage

Perfect for deli meat and cheese!

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Egg Dispenser

I love this egg dispenser because it’s slanted so when you pull one egg out they all roll to the front. :)

Fridge Organization and a recipe (Sunny Side Up)

Pizza Storage

Last but definitely not least is this pizza organizer! I can’t imagine life with teens without it.

If you often have this kind of situation going on at your house too you need the pizza organizer. :)

6 – MEN’S V-DAY GIFT IDEAS

If you need a few Valentine’s Day gift ideas for the men in your life here are a few fun ideas..

Kenny loves these soft Vuori tees! The stitching on the pocket is new this year. They are so comfortable and fitted but not tight.. a go-to gift for me. (Really he loves anything Vuori!)

You can’t go wrong with these Ugg slippers

Found LOTS of fun ideas from Amazon HERE too! I ordered Kenny the socks.. he’ll love them. ;)

Happy Super Bowl weekend!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (and a few favorite products!)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Dust Buster

Well friends.. it’s that time. Busted out the handheld vacuum in the bathroom once again! I literally dumped EVERYTHING out of every drawer and cupboard onto the floor. This yearly bathroom clean out is always a pain but it feels amazing when it’s done! Honestly my bathroom drawers weren’t that chaotic to begin with.. they were just overstuffed with too many products. I really focused on simplifying and only keeping what I really use and love! Here are the afters! (cue the angels..)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I’m still keeping things organized basically the same but it feels so good to have my organizers washed out and clean! I’ve had these for years but also bought a set from Amazon for my travel items (pics below) and I like them better than this set from the Container Store because they have grips on the bottom that keep them in place! They are linked above. I always have to put a little putty on my organizers to keep them from moving.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

My two non negotiable every day items that go on first before make-up. This is all I wear when I’m heading out the door to exercise in the am too!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I wanted to share this eyeshadow palate because I’ve been loving the colors! I gave it to my girls for Christmas too. A good mix of every day and colors with some shimmer for going out.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Still loving these so much that I made them part of my morning routine! I wear them while I’m taking Kole to school and then come back to get ready for the day with my eyes looking much better than they did before drop off.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I took a before pic of my neck and will take an after in 6 weeks to report back on if this is working! I’ve heard such good things about it. I purposely put it in this drawer so I would remember to put it on every day.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I reach for these so much for my brows and lashes (it’s the little things!) so had to share. $6 for the set!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Keeping my skin towels out on the counter so they are easy to use every night! I love my routine of washing my face and then cleaning off the bathroom counter with them.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Then I have all of my skin care products out and easy to access! It felt good to wash off my counter organizer too.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Colleen Rothschild Favorites

I’ve been mixing a little bit of this glow serum with my foundation in the morning and love it! It’s not as dark as a tanner, but gives your face a glowy I’ve been on vacation in the sun look. Who doesn’t want that in the winter!?

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Airbrush Setting Spray

I gave this to a few friends for Christmas! My favorite setting spray. It keeps your makeup on and looking fresh instead of wilting 3 hours later like mine always does when I forget to put it on!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Loving these drawer dividers! They come in different heights and I ordered the tallest (6″) for this deep drawer. I organized these items by hair (far left), random and then items for my face on the right. It just helps me grab things quick! I usually keep some of my hair items below my sink but I find that when I put things there I totally forget about them! So I moved as many things as I could up in this drawer because I’m in and out of it every day.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Pretty right!? They are easy to use and seal so tight! I have them in my kitchen in a few spots too.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Hot Rollers

This bottom drawer just holds my T3 hot rollers (love them!), tanning mitt and my blow dry extras that I never use and may toss at some point.. ha.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Ok.. really excited about this cupboard! It was so stuffed before! Just products everywhere and I was so picky about what I kept.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Cabinet Organizers

It’s just holding a few extras and items that didn’t fit in my other drawers and cupboards.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Leave-In Conditioner Spray

Like this every day item that is too tall for my drawer.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Self Tanning Mousse

Also items I love and use but not every day like my tanner.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Clear Drawer Organizers, Hair Brush, Pill Organizer

A few more items in this top drawer that I use before I go to bed at night.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Just started using this! It was such a hit at two favorite things parties I went to! I will report back if I love it, but I have a feeling I will since so many of my friends do.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Seriously there is nothing like an organized bathroom drawer right!?

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Olaplex Shampoo/Conditioner

More extras. You can tell I haven’t put the putty in this drawer yet to hold them in place! Organizers slid to the top when I opened it. Also do you think I have enough Olaplex shampoo and conditioner!? Ha ha.. this is what happens when my cupboards aren’t organized! I can’t tell what I have and need! Definitely done buying Olaplex for a while.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Clear Drawer Organizers

Over to my vanity! I am lucky to have a lot of drawer space in this bathroom so I have room for travel items too. These are the Amazon organizers that stay in place and I’m thinking of swapping everything out for these!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

More travel items here..

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

And here. I love having this all in one place when I’m packing for a trip!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

I keep my jewelry in these top skinny vanity drawers.

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Then all of my hair hot tools on the right. These are extras I don’t use every day (love my little travel blow dryer for trips!).

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Hair Tool Organizer (perfect for drawers!)
This is what my built in hair tool drawer actually always looks like! It’s messy.. I never wrap up all the cords! I also never put my blow dryer in the circle cut out for it because I like to keep the attachment on. I only keep my curling iron, blow dryer, and straight iron that I always use in this space. No extras because I’m trying to simplify!

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Curling Iron, T3 Blow Dryer, GHD Straight Iron

This curling iron would be such a cute Valentien’s Day gift wouldn’t it!? Love my T3 hair tools and the pink makes them extra fun. :)

Organized Bathroom Drawers (Sunny Side Up)

Rattan Vase (on sale!), Faux Stems

I’m taking down this jewelry pin board and want to make some changes in my bathroom this year! The cupboards need to be painted and the mirrors have some issues and need to be replaced. Good excuse to mix things up a bit. :) More on that when I get around to it! For now I’m just so happy to have all of my drawers and cupboards clean. I feel more on top of life when my bathroom drawers are organized because I start my day using them! It makes a difference right!?

I knew you’d agree. ;)

Valentine’s Day Table Idea and February Favorites

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

Decorative Bows, Scalloped Table Runner, Brass Candle Holders, Flameless Candles, Counter Stools

Happy Sunday.. I hope you had a good week! I’ve been organizing all the things and will share progress soon but had to pop in quick to show you this cute Valentine’s table idea!

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

Decorative Bows, Bracelet

Aren’t these bows too much fun!? I adore them for Valentine’s decor but I’m excited to have the red and white for future Christmas decorating too!

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

Decorative Bows, Scalloped Table Runner, Brass Candle Holders, Flameless Candles

They were so easy to tie on these candle holders I already had out from Christmas. Such a simple touch that made the candles look so pretty and elevated! Perfect for a tablescape or just for decor throughout the house.

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

I’ll take a better picture soon of this cute bow garland I also love and hung in my kitchen window and over my stove. We’re ready for February over here!

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

I pulled these pretty peonies in from my bathroom (switched to another vase in that space!) and added a wooden heart bowl with some cute heart filler.

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

This cute heart filler would be fun in a clear vase too!

Valentine's Day Table (Sunny Side Up)

I sprinkled some Hershey Kisses throughout to see how that looked. So cute and then your party/dinner guests can take home a treat after. :) I’m going to use these candles around the house to decorate but wanted to share this table idea for anyone hosting a party or special lunch/dinner this month! Below are weekly favorites, clothes I’ve got my eye on and so many cute Valentine’s Day gift ideas! Happy February!

Saturday 6

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to a good start and if you’re dealing with crazy weather this weekend I hope you’re staying safe and warm! Living in southern Utah followed by southern California I’m not exactly well versed on how to handle serious weather. I’ve been texting Addison nonstop making sure she is prepared this weekend and frantically ordering things like flashlights to send to her apartment in Texas. I hope it’s not that bad for her and the rest of the country! I’m going to pretend it’s stormy here too and stay inside most of the weekend organizing. :) I’m so excited to deep clean our fridge, pantry and my bathroom drawers! Hot spots that usually stay mostly organized but took a serious turn for the worst during December and need a reboot. It’s not a fun job, but I know how good it will feel to get those spaces clean!

1 – COLLAGEN EYE PATCHES

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

A few things I’m loving at the moment! I’ve used so many eye patches in the past and they are all great. These collagen eye patches are better than great! I don’t remember who recommended them to me, but now that I’ve tried them I am SOLD. The design and fit alone had me loving them from the minute I put them on! They are so thin and lightweight and stay in place. They feel nice and cool on my skin and help so much with dark circles and lines! I’m a fan. :)

2 – STANLEY ACCESSORIES

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

Ad and I were laughing so hard. About 4 days after we set our goals (remember our lists we check off each day!?) we started negotiating how to tweak some things with each other. “Maybe we change it from 60 ounces of water a day to 40 ounces a day. Or what if we get credit for just drinking some water.. any water each day?” Ha ha.. the struggle is real! I even went so far as to order cute accessories for my Stanley to see if that would help! It actually did make me more excited to bring my water around with me on the go. I’ll take any motivation I can get!

3 – DAILY STOIC

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

Loving this book so much! How have I never read it before!? It’s just a little half page read a day full of wisdom and inspiration for living a meaningful life. I have a feeling this book and my collagen eye patches will be my go-to’s for friend gifts this year!

4 – PADDLE BRUSH

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

Paddle Brush

I’ve shared my favorite brush before but ordered a new one so I’m sharing it again! I have thick hair that’s time consuming to blow dry and this brush helps me do it so much quicker! I usually get the black face but ordered the white to mix it up. I love that it’s just $9 because I can replace it every time it’s looking a little worn. Sidenote.. this is my favorite curling iron (the one inch!) and would be such a cute Valentine’s Day gift in pink! :)

5 – MAKEUP BAGS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

I’ve shared my favorite make-up bag so many times but I ordered this new toiletry bag as a Christmas gift to me from me for our Kauai trip and it definitely lived up to the hype! I had to share it with you all.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

I checked a bag so I didn’t need to worry about keeping things small and I just packed everything I use to get ready at home. I love how this bag sits upright and opens into so many compartments! It holds SO MUCH. A large pocket in the back for bigger items, plenty of pockets for things you want standing upright in the middle and then the flap in the front that holds additional things. I had already half way unpacked this when I snapped this pic.. it was stuffed! It will be my new go-to for road trips when I can let the over packer in me go wild. :)

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

I’ve actually been living out of both travel bags since our trip! I didn’t want to unpack because I want to wash all of my bathroom drawers/organizers. Time to get things put back together around here.

6 – HEARTS

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

Pulling out a few Valentine’s favorites around here like my heart ring! It’s so cute and a fun gift idea for anyone on your list! I always start wearing it in January and usually keep it on through April/May. I can’t remember the last time I wore my actual wedding ring. I do too much with my hands all day and like rings that are tough and flat.. ha.

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

I also picked up a couple of marble hearts to brighten the kitchen! I use the small heart dish to set my spoon on when I cook something (rare but it happens occasionally).

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)

Marble Heart Dish, Makeup Brush Holders, Vanity Organizer, Colleen Rothschild Skin Care Favorites (20% off with code ERIN20!)

I also put one in my bathroom to hold jewelry. :) The lighting is horrible for this pic (I snapped it today when it was dark outside!) but I did get my counter clean and this vanity organizer washed with all of my favorite skin products on it (20% off with code ERIN20!). Fresh and clean for the new year! I need to clean my make-up brushes when I do my drawers this weekend too. I use this makeup brush cleaner mat and makeup brush cleaner to clean them!

Saturday 6 (Sunny Side Up)Marble Heart Dish

Enjoy your Saturday and organize with me! My to-do list is a little ambitious ha.. and I will feel better knowing that win or lose we’re in this together.

Also definitely going to drink SOME water while I do it.

;)

Stocking Exchange Explained/Loving Now

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

Hello Hello! I hope you all had a good weekend! Before we get rolling with some fun things this week (and before I forget!) I wanted to explain how my friends organize our Stocking Exchange Party! So many of you sent emails asking exactly how it works and I want to share details so that you can save this post and plan ahead if you want to do something like this next year with your friends. It’s something we all look forward to!

Years ago when we were thick in the holiday season running around trying to create magic for our families and brainstorming gift ideas for our husbands and kids, we started telling stories about the sometimes sad state of our Christmas stockings. Once in a while a gift inside, maybe some candy and sometimes absolutely nothing. Of course none of us really care.. it was just a funny inside long running joke. Then around 2020 (I think!?) SNL came out with their Christmas Robe skit that showed everyone in the family getting spoiled on Christmas morning with fun gifts when the mom just gets a robe. Her stocking is flat and empty and even the dog gets more gifts than mom. (If you haven’t watched it look up SNL Christmas Robe.. it’s so funny!) For a couple more years we laughed about how we should have written that skit because it was the Christmas morning we had always described and joked about! Most moms can relate. :)

Sooo.. in 2023 two of my friends decided to plan, organize and host a yearly stocking exchange party and a new tradition was born. We would spoil each other! No more empty stockings for mom on Christmas morning! Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. :)

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

My two friends who host this party every year started it by sending out an evite with the date, time and location of the party along with an explanation of how it would work. We would each be filling one stocking for a friend and the budget was set at $200. That’s a higher price point for a party (this isn’t something I could have done in our early married years!) and you can obviously set the budget at any price you want! I do think this requires a bigger budget than a favorite things party item just because you’re filling a stocking with gifts that your friend will really love/use and you’re also buying a stocking so I would recommend a budget of at least $75. In early November (after the initial evite) we all get a text message with a little survey in it to fill out. These are some of the survey questions..

Where are your favorite places to shop?

Of these categories, what are you most interested in/drawn to right now? (Beauty products, hair products, clothing, jewelry, workout attire, home decor, kitchen/cookware, other?)

-Is there a certain brand that you love?

-What are your favorite colors/scents?

-What are your favorite flavors, candy, foods?

-What scents, colors, flavors, candy, foods are you NOT a fan of?

-What makes you feel pampered?

After everyone turns in surveys we get a text about a week later with the name of the person we are buying for that year and the answers to their survey. (My friends use an app to pair people up randomly each year and just choose again if we get someone we already gave a stocking to.) I love the survey because even though we all know each other it’s fun to learn little details we maybe didn’t know! We always get assigned our person before Thanksgiving so that we can take advantage of Black Friday deals. That’s why this is a party you want to think about and organize early in November! So that everyone has plenty of time to shop for their person. The lunch usually takes place sometime the week before kids are out of school for Christmas break in December. We try to get smaller things that really fit inside of a stocking! But most of us have brought an item or two most years that is wrapped and didn’t fit. :) Our person is supposed to be a surprise, but of course the hosts know who has who and of course some of us talk… so some are surprises and some aren’t each year.. ha.

We have now done this for 3 years in a row and it’s always at the same location. My friends chose a beautiful lunch spot we all love!

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

Lilian’s in Rancho Santa Fe if you’re local! You could mix up the location each year or even do this at someone’s house. We love dressing up and going to the same restaurant each time.

Sometimes we eat inside.

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

My friends who host this always bring extra details to make the table even more gorgeous like this stunning flower arrangement!

See's chocolates a lot of the time. :)

They make cute place cards so we know where to sit.

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

And we always get a beautifully wrapped box of See’s chocolates.

Stocking Exchange Party (Sunny Side Up)

Clearly taking a pic of my diet coke has become just as much a tradition as the party itself. :)

We take some group pictures as people are arriving and then get a picture each year with the person we gave a stocking to and the person we got one from. Then we enjoy a nice long lunch just talking which is honestly our favorite part of it all! We love taking time together during a busy season to be together and catch up. Then we leave with a full beautiful stocking to open on Christmas morning!

2025

It’s always the same group (first two pictures not everyone had arrived yet). Such a special tradition! I’m so grateful to friends who plan fun things like this during the holidays. I hope that explanation was helpful. It is a party that requires a little more planning! Especially the first year you do it. If you have any other questions let me know and I can answer in the comments and add more details in the post if I’ve left something out!

Sharing some fun round-ups below of your favorites and my favorites from last week! I’m still trying to decide what I’m doing this year with my Saturday 6/Sunday Edit posts! I might mix things up and just share the Sunday Edit favorites at the end of other blog posts instead of a dedicated post on Sunday just for collages? I don’t know yet, but I will let you know when I figure it out! January always makes me want a fresh take on things! :)  Enjoy your day!

Valentine’s Gift Ideas

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week! I am so tired from taking my Christmas down.. ha. I think I’ve been up and down my stairs no fewer than 6,ooo times. This was the last thing to come down today! I decided to completely re-do my attic space and go through everything to de-clutter so it has been quite a project. But I am almost done! Seriously next year don’t let me put so much Christmas decor up! I won’t listen. But remind me anyway. ;) I have so many other things I want to organize this month and am hoping to start a few projects this weekend. I also can’t wait to decorate and make the house feel cozy again. It’s so empty and bare right now!

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Bestie Mug, Sweethearts, Heart Socks, Naked Palette, Strawberry Mask, Chocolate Arrows, Striped Heart Mug, Heart Journal, Heart Pen, Maybelline Gloss, eos Body Mist, Sweethearts Boxes, Bow Handle Mug, Brightener Roller, Love Straw, Heart Icon Glass, Heart Straw

One thing I did knock off my to-do list this week (other than Christmas/attic organization) is my Valentine’s Day gifts! I have so many fun options to share today! These are more for girls but I’ll share a couple of fun ideas for boys/men next week too.

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Bestie Mug, Sweethearts, Heart Socks, Naked Palette, Strawberry Mask, Chocolate Arrows, Striped Heart Mug, Heart Journal, Heart Pen, Maybelline Gloss, eos Body Mist, Sweethearts Boxes, Bow Handle Mug, Eye Brightener, Love Straw, Heart Icon Glass, Heart Straw

How cute are these mugs!? The first 3 are just $5 each! Perfect for a fun Valentine’s Day gift for your bestie, daughter, mom, a teacher, neighbor, etc. I filled each with the fun items above. Chocolate and a face mask in each and then I mixed up the other items inside with what fit best.

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Here’s a closer look! I tried to put one really nice gift item in each! The mini eyeshadow and lipgloss in these two.

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Then the body mist and eye brightener in these two. Also I adore the love straw. So cute isn’t it!? Fun for party favors and festive drinks this time of year.

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

The Valentine snack boxes are also back this year and are adorable! I mean the bow.. who could pass that up!?

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Crinkle Cut Paper

I ordered this cute crinkle paper to put inside each of them for filler.

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Bow Snack Box, Colleen Rothschild Favorites, Fuzzy Socks, Chocolates, Straw Caps

I had to get creative with the bow because only certain items fit in each section! I landed with chocolate, fuzzy socks, cute straw cover caps in the middle (I’ve been using one on my Stanley!), and then some Colleen Rothschild favorites (the complete eye cream and illuminating tinted eye cream). The CR items cost a little more for a nice Valentine’s Day gift but everything is 25% off right now for their anniversary sale! This would be a fun bestie gift. :)

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Bow Snack Box, Colleen Rothschild Favorites, Fuzzy Socks, Chocolates, Straw Caps

I mean.. so adorable right!? So cute for college/teen girls too! For my girls (19 and 21) I would keep it all the same but swap the complete eye cream for this lip mask. They don’t need that type of product yet.. lucky girls. ;)

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Heart Snack Box. Heart Sticky Notes, Lip Gloss, Heart Socks, Hand Sanitizer, Crinkle Cut Paper, HERSHEYS Kisses

I love the heart too and had so much fun filling it! Chocolates in the middle, another good lip gloss, hand sanitizer, a heart notepad and of course more cute socks! I mean what’s February without a cute pair of heart socks to run around in!?

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

Heart Snack Box. Heart Sticky Notes, Lip Gloss, Heart Socks, Hand Sanitizer, Crinkle Cut Paper, HERSHEYS Kisses

Valentine Gift Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

The mini heart snack box I just filled with candy!

Valentine’s Day Snack Boxes

Last year I shared these fun snack boxes. They are back! A little different and they come in 4 styles. Making gift giving too easy and fun.. I’ll take it!

I also have these cute cards in my printable library! Print them on cardstock (I just used regular paper here to share them) and attach them to a cute snack box. Easy and done! A little treat for someone sweet. With love from me to you. ;)

Happy Valentine’s Day gifting!

20 things to do in January for a fresh start!

Happy January! To be honest January has always been a strange month to me. I feel like I have split personalities! I swing from highly motivated setting goals and making to-do lists of ALL THE THINGS to highly unmotivated craving nothing but a cozy blanket and a good book or movie. It’s almost comical how quickly I go from one mood to the other! I’ve learned through the years to hold space for both moods this month. I’m motivated when the mood strikes checking things off my list and when I’m feeling tired or burned out or just a little sad (for whatever reason!) I give myself permission to relax. Somehow I always make it through the month feeling more like myself once February rolls around. Can anyone relate? :) Regardless of my January mood, I do love that it’s a month when I can attempt to get my house (and life!) back on track. It feels so good after a busy December doesn’t it!? Time to exhale and really think about the new year ahead. I started making a list of things I want to do this month (during one of my motivated bursts of energy.. ha) and then decided I would share it here too! These are all things I usually do in January (or things I’m trying to do this month!) to set myself up for a good year.

*If you are new here (hello/welcome!) and want to subscribe to have my blog posts send straight to your inbox you can sign up HERE! You’ll also have access to all of my free organizing printables that will help you kick off the year!

1 – Fine tune your morning routine. I’m really working on this one! For me it’s simple and includes waking up earlier, making my bed, tossing in a load of laundry and going on my morning walk before I run Kole to school. Simple but I struggle with it because I’m such a night owl and I wake up like a zombie each day! To really pull it off I have to go to bed at a better time which is also a long running goal. I feel so much better when I start my mornings with intention and go on a quick morning walk so I’m definitely making mornings a priority in 2026!

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

I know it helps that we have year round walkable weather. If I didn’t I would be looking into a walking pad. I have friends who have them and love using them every day in their homes when they are working or for a quick morning walk!

2 – Set reasonable daily goals and find an accountability partner. Addison and I are LOCKED IN with some simple goals this year and we put them in a shared notes app so that we can each check them off every day. We are hoping that if we do it together we’ll stay motivated and remind each other and celebrate at the end of each day when we check them all off. Our goals are pretty simple.. but also hard for us. Ha. The 12/3/30 is our treadmill time! Walking on a grade of 12 at a speed of 3 for 30 minutes a day. I’m hoping to do a quick am walk and then in the evening go to the gym with Kenny to do some treadmill time and weights. Ad and I set an 11:30 bedtime on week nights because we’re trying to be realistic for us! That means I have to get my computer/phone work done in the am. I usually like to do projects in the am, but then the day gets away from me and I’m up way too late working on a blog post. Like I am right now.

Goals are starting after tonight. ;)

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

3 – Put new sheets on your bed and donate the old set. I always buy new sheets for the new year! My favorite sheets are from Amazon and such a good price so I feel like I can justify the splurge. I usually get new sheets for the kids’ rooms too, but this year since my girls aren’t using their beds at the house as much I’m just getting a new set for us and Kole.

4 – Clean out your fridge. Always feels so good right!? I love a good January fridge clean out! Everyone is usually motivated to eat better and there is nothing like having healthy snacks prepped and ready to go. You can find all of my recent fridge organization favorites HERE and below are some past pics for inspiration!

5 – Clean out your pantry. My pantry is such a mess right now! I usually keep it pretty organized but the wheels came off the bus during December. I can’t wait to get it clean again! Below are some older pantry pics.. I’ll share an updated pic of how it’s looking when I get it clean this month!

Organization Favorites

6 – Edit the clothes in your closet. I gave my closet a major overhaul last year and it felt amazing. It’s always my hot spot! Now that I have systems in place I’m going to spend 15 minutes a day going through all of my clothes again. I’ve learned that I just have to do this every year! I love clothes too much and buy new items each season and if I want to keep my closet organized I can’t have too many clothes in it. That’s the secret to keeping anything organized! Less is more. So I will be doing an edit and donating anything I don’t love to wear! I’ll share updated closet pics when I get it done. :)

7 – Organize hats. I finally tackled our hats last year when I organized our closet and can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner!

9 – Refresh your medicine cabinet. My medicine cabinet is a mess! I need a different system and will be sharing what I come up with when I get to it!

10 – Clean out the junk drawer (clean out ALL the junk drawers). Such an easy win! This is usually the first thing I do every January because it doesn’t take long and it motivates more organizing! Nothing like opening a clean drawer. The angels sing! Every time. :)

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

Bamboo Organizer – customizable (I used 2 sets for this drawer!)

11 – Establish a a system for incoming paper. We are using less and less paper with computers and phones but there still seems to be random piles! Set up a filing system for important papers and some type of inbox for daily mail/paper. I just ordered this cute organizer to keep in our kitchen! Still figuring out where it will land. I always have random paper/mail I save for Kenny to go through and this will be a perfect organizer to hold it all so that it’s off the kitchen counter.

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

12 – Add soft lighting with lamps and candles. It’s such a bummer when the Christmas lights come down and it’s still getting dark early! I love adding small lamps and candles in each room to keep things feeling cozy through winter.

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

Rattan Lamp, Rechargeable Light Bulb

This little rattan lamp is my absolute favorite! It sold out so fast and finally came back in stock.

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

Brass Candle Holders, Taper Candles

I’m definitely keeping these candles sprinkled around the house for the next couple of months too!

13 – Clean and organize your car. It feels amazing to get into a clean car to kick off the new year! I shared a few car organization tips a while ago in this blog post. You an also find my favorite items to keep our cars clean and organized HERE. I still love and use everything I shared!

14 – Go through pictures on your phone and delete any you don’t need. I’m trying to figure out a set time that I can do this every day for at least 10 minutes! I want to habit stack it on something else so that it becomes part of my routine.

15 – Schedule important doctor/dentist/beauty/gym/friend appointments as far out as you can (get your yearly mammogram!). Health needs to be a priority! I always do this in January and it feels so good to be on top of important appointments. I put hair/beauty/gym appointments in the same category because mental health is just as important. When we look and feel our best we show up the best! I also try to schedule lunches and get togethers with friends.. a major mental health boost! I have friends who are good about scheduling things too and it always makes us happy to have time together to look forward to in the new year!

16 – Read a good self development book or listen to a motivational podcast. I love an inspiring book or podcast and if I’m driving alone I’m always listening to one! You can see a round up of my favorite motivational books HERE (including a couple I ordered this year!) and The Mel Robbins podcast is my favorite. If you have any to recommend please share them in the comments!

17 – Level up your skincare. I’ll be 49 years old this year and I’m definitely seeing more lines and wrinkles. It’s a privilege to grow old and I’m embracing it! While also trying to find any products I can that help the situation. ;) These are a few favorites I’m bringing into the new year. I wear this sunscreen every day.. I think wearing a good sunscreen is the most important thing you can do to keep your face from aging! The neck cream I just ordered and will let you know what I think of it but I’ve been hearing good things that it actually works! Fingers crossed.

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)

Clean Skin Club Towels, Under Eye Masks, Neck Cream, SPF, Colleen Rothschild Favorites

You know how much I love Colleen Rothschild! The CR items here are some go-to favorites. I also ordered this cute container to hold my clean skin towels and LOVE these under eye masks! They help with my dark circles from not enough sleep so hopefully I’ll use less of them in the new year. ;)

18 – Start a gratitude journal. Life can be hard and busy and stressful and sad and sometimes just overwhelming. If you’re feeling down for whatever reason taking one minute a day to write down something you are grateful for can make a huge difference. It really helps to put you in a different mindset. I have a spot on my morning walk (a pretty look out spot) where I stop and think about one thing I’m grateful for each day and that works too! Any daily gratitude practice will help rewire your brain to focus on the positive things in your life.

Sunday Edit (Sunny Side Up Blog)

Gratitude Journal

This is a simple, favorite gratitude journal I’ve used in the past. I like it so much I gave them as gifts at one of my holiday parties.

Sunday Edit (Sunny Side Up Blog)

I made these bookmarks to put in them. A January gift idea for a friend you care about. :)

19 – Set limits for your news and social media intake. I have learned to be so careful about how much time I spend absorbing news and social media. I personally think the less the better! And this is coming from a so called “influencer” (I’ve always hated that word and prefer blogger or “sharer of fun things”.. ha.). I try to only check in with IG accounts that lift me up and inspire me and make me happy. I can’t watch the news without feeling down so I just stay away from it all together. When there is something big going on I always hear about it and I choose to focus on positive things during the day. Everyone has to decide what’s best for them! January is a great time to think about what you want to consume each day.

20 – Establish a set time to plan for the upcoming week. A favorite quote says “failing to plan is planning to fail.” No truer words were ever spoken! If I don’t schedule things that are important to me they just DON’T HAPPEN. I always buy a few cute new planners every year so I can switch things up when I’m feeling unmotivated! (I use my simple to-do planner most days!) Set up a time each week to plan for the week ahead whether that’s Friday afternoon or Sunday evening or first thing Monday morning. Then be intentional about the week in front of you.

20 things to do in January for a fresh start! (Sunny Side Up)To-Do Planner, Notes & Plans Planner, 2026 Planner

We’ve got this! Cheers to living our best lives and making 2026 our best year yet!

And just like that.. the more motivated me is back. ;)

Happy 2026! (Kauai, 2025 favorites and new arrivals)

Happy 2026! (Sunny Side Up)

Happy 2026! I hope your new year is off to a good start! I love the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.. it’s always a bubble of family time with no concept of schedules and time. I could live in that week quite happily for much longer if allowed. :)

Happy 2026! (Sunny Side Up)

More than anything I just loved having uninterrupted time with these 3 all together again!

Happy 2026! (Sunny Side Up)

And some down time with this one.

Happy 2026! (Sunny Side Up)

It was so nice to take a break from day to day life and to just be together. Nothing like being on island time where everything moves at a slower pace and the biggest decision to make is beach or pool? Shaved Ice or Gelato?

Happy 2026! (Sunny Side Up)

Both and both. :)

Now I’m home and I’m feeling a surge of energy and excitement for the new year! I am so ready to get my home organized! Have you started!? The wheels definitely came off the bus in my house a bit these last few months and I have so many messy spots I want to tackle. Honestly I feel like every cupboard and drawer in every room in my house needs an edit! There are so many things we aren’t using anymore.. especially with the kids getting older. January will definitely be a month of organizing and I can’t wait. I’m also excited to update some things in our home.. it’s time! I hope you’ll join me! Get out a bag for trash and a bag to donate and LET’S GO! Kicking things off in my next post. We’ve got this. :)

2025 Christmas Home Tour (Sunny Side Up)

Hello and happy holidays! I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas (if you celebrate!) and a nice long weekend with family! We had such a fun month with friends and now we are really enjoying this time with our girls home. Nothing like having the whole family together again. I’m sharing a full holiday home tour post because I had so many pics that I never shared and want everything combined in one spot! I wanted to get this blog post out sooner and there was so much going on I just couldn’t pull it off this year. The sign of a good season I guess. :) I also got your emails about the stocking exchange! Still planning on sharing a full post on how we do that for everyone who wants details! This post below might be my longest ever with so many pics (some with my camera and some quick with my phone) so I’m keeping the chit chat to a minimum. :) Enjoy the pics! I’m in no rush to take all of this Christmas decor down.. I love the lights! But I’m also excited to organize everything in sight this January and make some fun updates to our home. Thank you for all of the love and support this year.. it truly means everything to me. I’m very excited about spending time with you all in 2026! Wishing you the best New Year from our family to yours!!

2025 Christmas Home Tour (Sunny Side Up)

Velvet Bows

The pics in my hallway are from our Europe trip a couple of years ago. I just added a little bow to each to jazz them up because I didn’t have time to switch to Christmas pics!

Saturday Edit (last minute gift ideas!)

Sunday Edit on a Saturday! I’m sharing a fun round-up of weekly favorites (from the past two weeks!) and last minute gift ideas. Amazon is having their first Super Saturday sale with markdowns on lots of best selling gifts that arrive before Christmas! I rounded up some gift ideas on sale HERE and then shopped from my own list.. ha! I never know if sharing fun finds with all of you is helping me with my shopping or getting me into more trouble. Probably a little of both. :) If you’re a last minute shopper or just need a few more stocking stuffers I’ve got you covered. Thank you Amazon! Addison just flew in from Texas and Ellie is finishing her school/internship obligations and will be over tomorrow so I am one happy mom tonight. YEA.. getting my kids all home for Christmas! Now I just need to find some time to start wrapping. I hope you are getting close to spending time with loved ones too! And more on top of the wrapping than I am. :)

Have the best Saturday!
