Hair Tutorial (sharing a past post!)

Hi friends!  I’ve had several people ask me on Instagram (erin_sunnysideup) how I style my hair and if I would do a tutorial.  I actually did a tutorial three years ago!  It’s a bit outdated and totally embarrassing but I’m going to share the link because I still do my hair basically the same way when I curl it now.  I’ve cut it short and had styles in-between but I just keep coming back to this look because I live in a really humid climate and have naturally curly hair so this style allows me to spend about 5 minutes a day on my hair which is all the time I have!  Whenever I visit dryer climates I love to do it straight because it actually stays straight.  Anyway – I’ll have to do an updated video at some point because I don’t curl the ends anymore (gives it more of a loose beachy look) and because I acted so stupid during this tutorial.  My friends saw it and thought I didn’t even sound like myself!  So serious and all business.  I was nervous.  :)  Anyway – you can go here to check it out.  I hope embarrassing myself helps you get the curls you’re after.

:)
xoxo, Erin

  1. It’s official you are the cutest person in the history of cute people and I would give my right arm for half of your hair! Seriously? You have the best hair evahhhh! :)

  2. Hi Erin! Love your blog and enjoyed the hair tutorial. I also have thick, wavy hair and I live in south florida so I have to deal with the humidity as well. My question is when you are styling you hair the second or third day do you brush it with a hairbrush? I find that if I brush my curls, my hair gets frizzy. Does this happen to you? If so, how do you manage it? Thanks
    Cathy

  3. Awww.. thank you Lauren and Kelly!

Thanks Cathy! Yes! Total frizziness if I brush it. I rarely brush through my hair. On second and third day in the morning I run my fingers through my hair and just brush the ends. I also use Moroccan Oil to help with the frizziness. Have you tried it before? GREAT product for hair like ours in humidity! Hope that helps! :)

  4. Erin, that was the cutest instructional video I have ever seen in my whole life!! Oh my word – you are just a doll. I have lots of hair, but it is very fine, so it goes FLAT very quickly in humidity. I use 5 large hot rollers, a flat iron, and a curling iron. I would LOVE to have the volume of hair that you have!!

It was so neat to get to hear your voice after reading your blog for so long. It makes it seem like I know you even better now.

Thank you so much for sharing the secrets to your hairstyle. I would never have guessed that you don’t wash, dry, and style your hair every single day! It’s just darling!

  5. Just ran across a pin for your tutorial video .. thanks for sharing all your tips. I have the same length and type of hair as you and wash mine about the same. About a year ago I started using Wella Brillance shampoo & conditioner. I love it and the smell! I can’t wait to try some of the products you recommended because I also live in a very humid state. Love the dryer weather when you can have “good hair days”. – Cindy

  6. Please do an updated video! It was so inspiring and I’d love to see a newer look! You always look amazing!
