Carrot Vase/Easter Ideas (Sunny Side Up)

I hope you’re having a good week so far! It’s going by so quickly. We’ve had a lot going on with the kids and a lot of rain. I’m so excited for sunny, warm days! I’m also excited for Sprig Break and Easter. Hopefully they will both be accompanied by sunny, warm days. :)

You might remember in the Fall when I experimented with using mini pumpkins as a vase filler. I loved the way it turned out and it was such fun seasonal decor that I decided to try something similar for Easter. Instead of pumpkins I used carrots! I present to you.. my carrot vase. :) Kind of cute, right? Or is it just weird? Ha ha. My kids thought it was a little weird but I’m a fan. :)

It took TWO minutes to put this together. Probably why I love it so much! I arranged my flowers in the center of this glass vase and then just dumped a few bags of mini carrots around the stems. The carrots slid in so easily! Then when I got to the top of the vase I just set a few individual carrots inside to fill all the way to the top of the vase. Then add your water! What’s up, Doc? Easy and done.

I set it on my island as a cute little arrangement with my tulips (of course I did). Love this for Easter decor! It would also be fun as a centerpiece for an Easter table for dinner. Another idea is using several small vases in the middle of the table with carrots and flowers. Any flowers obviously work, but adding some orange is especially fun. :) I made this last week because I wanted to see how long it lasted. It looked beautiful for about 5 days and then it was time to change the water. It does take a little work emptying the carrots and setting them aside so you can dump the water and then fill the carrots back in around the flower stems again.

Ideas like this with real items/food are better for short term decorating, but such a simple and inexpensive way to add some fun to your Easter table/decor!

Speaking of carrots. :) Here are a few other fun ideas for Easter I’ve shared in the past! I can’t wait to make this again. Just like the carrot vase it takes no time and is so cute. Below are a few other fun ways to serve food and snacks for Spring/Easter get togethers.

Easter candy is my favorite and never lasts long around here. Give me a Cadbury Egg and some Chicks, Ducks & Bunnies and I’m set for breakfast lunch and dinner. Oh don’t forget a Coke Zero! A little sad but true. :)

Another fun and easy Easter idea is hanging eggs from tall faux flowers. I’ve done this for years and makes such a beautiful display!

  1. Well, that’s a fun idea to put carrots in the vase. Yay for fun spring themed treats! And I adore your sitting and standing bunnies making their appearance in so many different spots through the years. Hope it dries out a bit for you soon. This is our spring break week and it’s been nice, although it did snow a bit yesterday late afternoon/early evening. Just as a reminder, you know. LOL Thanks for sharing, Erin. Have a fantastic day.

    1. Oh man.. who wants snow for spring break!? So sorry Jeanne! This is such a wet winter. At least you still have your sense of humor. ;) Thank you and enjoy the rest of your week! xo

  2. Hi Erin!
It is still before 10:00AM East Coast Daylight savings time. I hope this gets to you this time ON TIME! :) I know I am bad about leaving comments on time. I read the post, think about some of the ideas and SOME things to buy ;-D and come back later to comment. Hmmmm… well, sometimes a day or so later…….
I hope you got my last comment anyway. It was either “Spring Decorating” or one of the “Weekend Sales”. LOL. It was the one where I “commented” (HA!) on the Minka vase!
Guess I missed you. Anyway, LOVED this post and I am doing the carrot thing! Also, would you please link the Easter Eggs on the flowering branches. They look like Mercury Glass! they are nicer than mine! Also, the Gingham plates in both pink and black. LOVE them! Love checks and well, you know black….. and then again PINK. Well, you know……
I am also going to do the whole platter with the sourdough bread bowl. A winner for sure!
PS. I WAITED to order my Sam Edleman sandal/slides (Raffia) and BOO….. They are low in stock! Lesson to learn for the “Faint of heart girls” (wait on it girls!) I THINK I need a 7 but they are out! I wonder IF they would be ok in a
6 1/2…. We ladies (Well, me anyway) span a couple different sizes between 6 1/2-to an 8 in a really tight ballet flat. Never more than a 7, really in a slide or sandal. What size did you end up with?

    1. Hi Sharon! You are the sweetest to comment.. regardless of whether it’s on time or not. Thank you! I’m sometimes slow to reply so we’re even. ;) Aren’t those mercury eggs pretty!? They were from PB years ago and I’ve never seen anything like them! I wish I could link them and the gingham plates for you.. they’ve all sold out and I couldn’t see anything similar I was excited about. Such a bummer! I think etsy has some gingham plate options. The Sam Edelman sandals fit pretty true to size (I’m a 7 1/2 and got that in the rafia and a 7 in the dressy sandal – I could wear either size in either!). I just checked the website and all sizes are still in stock! They are brand new this season so you should be good. I know what you mean. I seem to range from a 6 1/2 to 8 depending on the shoe! Especially sandals are all over the place. Now we just need some sun and warm weather so we can wear them. :) XO

  3. Hi Erin,
Love your blog! Question – would the chunky jute rug be a good choice for a household with a shedding dog?
    Thanks,
    Pam

    1. Hi Pam! Thank you so much! Definitely! It would be a great rug for a house with dogs. It’s so durable and hides everything! Really soft too. It sheds itself a little in the beginning (ha) but stops after a few months. It’s a great rug for kids and dogs! :)

  4. You have great idea – this year with the carrots for filler included! What I like they’re cute and doable! Thanks!
