Happy Thursday! Wayfair is having their annal Way Day Sale and friends.. it’s GOOD. So many of my favorites are on major sale (only through Thursday!). First example.. my cute metal floor lamp! It comes in a set of 2 with a desk lamp that I had on my console table for years and now have upstairs.

Ad’s nightstands are half off! Well.. 49% off but close enough. :) We’ve loved these nightstands. They are a great size and come in lots of fun colors. They have one big drawer that looks like two and I love the hardware. Her bench and bed and fan and basically everything in her bedroom are also on sale right now! It’s a new week and I hope it’s a good one for you! I’m kicking things off with 5 recent favorites around here. First up is a summer lounge set. And it’s green. I’m clearly over surprising you all with anything new. ;) But I really LOVE these pants. They are lightweight, very comfortable and such a cue fit! I bought this set a few weeks ago and wore it for a day and then immediately went on-line and ordered the pants in another color. This top is so cute and comfy too! If you don’t love cropped shirts it also comes in a longer v-neck tee and the set also comes with shorts and a jacket. These shoes are also recent favorites that are cute and comfortable! (The pants and top fit true to size – I’m wearing xs top and s bottom. I went down one half size in the sneakers.)

My second recent favorite is this cute woven tote! You know Madewell totes have been favorites of mine for years and in my opinion this new woven style is perfection! It’s lightweight, so stylish and the perfect size. Not too big and not too small! It also has a longer strap so you can wear it as a crossbody and tuck the smaller straps inside. It’s seriously so good! If you’re interested in something similar at a lower price point this amazon woven tote is a fun option!

The sky is clear and the sun is finally shinning again in San Diego. I’ve lived here for over 20 years now and this past winter was the longest cloudy/rainy season I’ve seen here. Very grateful to have the sunshine back! It makes such a difference in our overall mood right!? Of course the sun always inspires me to kick it in gear and get our yard and outdoor areas whipped into shape. The pillows I usually use in our outdoor area I bought in 2015! I’ve worked hard to bring them in during off weather and keep them nice so they lasted 8 years. They were looking pretty faded this year when I pulled them back out. One pillow I had to toss months ago because a mouse ate the corner of it! Always a fun discovery.. ha. I was due for a few new outdoor pillows!

Aren’t these pillows cute!? I had so much fun pulling patterns together. The macia pillow and the green linen lumbar pillow aren’t actually outdoor pillows, but this area is covered and like I mentioned.. I take good care of our outdoor pillows so I’m not worried about them. I have a navy rug in this space so I wanted to stick with blue, but also pull in some green for a fun change!

Ok my 4th recent favorite is sheet pan dinners! I’m kind of on a roll lately with tossing lots of things into a bowl, adding some seasonings and putting them on a sheet pan to cook and then done! I’m super messy when I cook so ignore my counter. Probably a big part of the reason I don’t enjoy cooking much!

Such an easy and healthy dinner! I found a recipe on-line similar to this years ago and just make different versions of it with whatever we have in the fridge. This time I used red potatoes, baby carrots, asparagus, onion, and one package of pork kielbasa. I added in some olive oil, minced garlic, dried basil, oregano, and salt and pepper. Really you can add anything you want! You can’t mess this up which is why it’s perfect for anti chefs like me. :) I cook it on 400 for close to an hour (just watch and taste test to see when it’s ready). I put everything in together for the full cook time other than the asparagus. When I use asparagus I add it in about half way through so it doesn’t over cook. Another tip is to cut the potatoes in smaller pieces and cut larger carrots in half. Anything to help the veggies cook faster! Also use tin foil so that your pan is easy to clean after!

Happy Friday! Made it. I hope you have something to look forward to this weekend! My annual highschool BFF reunion trip last weekend was a huge success. (Details on the annual trip starting and pics of us through the years in last year’s post.) Love these girls so much. We spent the weekend in our hometown this year after realizing it really doesn’t matter where we meet since we just want to spend the weekend talking and laughing and eating!

Aside from all of the talking we hit our favorite restaurants and managed to sneak in a morning massage and time at the pool in the afternoon. Bliss!

Ang (my cute friend right behind me in this pic) had sweatshirts made for us all with our zip code on them. Last year she brought bracelets (is she not the sweetest!?). Always our zip code – the official name of our group because of our obsession with Beverly Hills 90210. Ha. Chatted more about that here. I came home from the trip so grateful for good friends! Honestly they just make life FUN don’t they!? I’m already looking forward to next year.

Between this trip and all of our college touring I’ve been flying nonstop the past two weeks. The kids have a few things going on this weekend and we have one dinner out with friends, but other than that I’m so excited about a quiet weekend at home after so much travel. I don’t want to go anywhere unless it’s on a walk! I’ve been working on a few projects and doing a little organizing (always) and I’m excited to have some down time to continue that stuff too. “Nesting” as Kenny likes to call it. I’m always nesting. :)

Hello hello! I’ve missed you all! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and are enjoying your week! We were on the go traveling with friends for my kids’ spring break last week and I’m flying out again for a quick weekend girls’ trip this week with lots of busy activities and get togethers in-between. It has felt pretty non-stop lately! All good things and so much fun, but I’m looking forward to a normal week at home in my routine next week. There are introverts and there are extroverts and I’m smack in the middle.. 100% an ambivert! Someone who loves to be social but also values quiet alone time. I’m a social butterfly and a hermit homebody all rolled into one..ha. I’ve found that I crave a balance between the two and I’ve definitely been tipping to the extrovert side of my personality lately. I love time with friends! But I’m also so excited to be home next week alone in my house working on my projects and listening to my podcasts. :)

I thought I’d share how my coffee table is looking for spring! I picked up some beautiful bright pink tulips from Trader Joe’s and they just brightened my whole family room.

I brought in my oversized cotton bed throw for my chair to tie in with all the fun green accessories in this space. I thought it would be too long, but I actually love the length and how it hangs longer over the back of the chair! Such a beautiful throw.

Here are a few pics from our spring break trip! We are touring college options for Addison (deja vu since we JUST did all of this with El!) and spent the week with friends in both Oregon and Texas. Some parents want their kids to go to the best school they can get into and while I don’t think anything is wrong with that at all, that has never been my goal. I want my kids at schools that just feel like the right fit for them. I really believe it’s all about what they do with their degree and life after that matters. It’s cool how every college has a unique vibe! My girls have both been able to tell by touring schools pretty quickly if they might be a good fit for them or not. It’s really just fun to check out not only schools, but also the cities they are located in. There are so many things for parents to consider with college including cost and distance. I’m personally team keep my kids as close as possible (I already made Ad check out all the San Diego and LA schools..ha) while Kenny is all about giving them a new experience and sending them to the East Coast. We feel different about location, but I think we both get excited about the whole college experience for our kids because it’s something we didn’t really get ourselves. We got married young and our parents couldn’t afford to help with school (best supportive parents ever in other ways!). We went to smaller local schools (worked and had scholarship help) and then I got my teaching degree and worked 3 jobs to get Kenny through law school at UVA. I wouldn’t trade our experience for the world! But we have always been excited for our kids to have that move away and live in the dorms college experience.

Even though I cry my eyes out having El gone and thinking about Ad leaving!

We saw 5 schools in 5 days with sightseeing in the afternoons so whew! Busy trip. We were on the GO but the girls loved everything we saw!

We checked out Baylor and of course had to spend some time at Magnolia. My first time visiting and it ended up raining! We didn’t mind at all.. it just meant more time in the shops for us. :)

I snapped this picture and then we all realized that Kole just passed Addison in height! A very happy discovery for one and a sad discovery for the other. Ha. Isn’t the wall of mirrors a fun idea!? I’ve seen it before and have always wanted to try it in my house somewhere.

I’m sharing my Easter table today! Which is also my spring table… and most likely my summer table too. :) A while ago I shared these beautiful items I ordered from Anthro and they all arrived last weekend. Hello cute wooden bunny! Talk about happy mail.

Love it all but I’m the most excited about these eyelet dinner plates! So beautiful for spring and summer dining. They come in dessert plates too (I just ordered 8 of the dinner plates). I have some fun ideas for the flower nesting bowls and I’ll share where I’m putting the beautiful black vases soon.. perfection! They are so gorgeous together or separate. I got the small and medium candlestick but the tall candlestick is backordered so just waiting on that.

Funny.. I set these items together on my kitchen counter to take a pic to share and thought hmmm.. why is this neutral color palette looking so familiar? Then I glanced over at my kitchen rug. Ha. Guess it’s easy to tell these neutrals are calling my name!

Although my spring Easter table isn’t neutral with some gorgeous pops of pink! I kept it really simple this year and couldn’t love it more.

I wanted my acrylic floral vase full of tulips to take center stage and they certainly do. Stunning! I wish you could see it in person. I set my table and took these pictures 5 days after I put together my arrangement.

You can see the tulips were just starting to open when I put this together.

5 days later they are in full bloom! My arrangement still looks so beautiful and I didn’t change the water or do a thing! Did I mention I’m in love with this vase?

I’m also in love with this simple place setting. The chargers and everything else I used are long time favorites you’ve seen before. I just added my new eyelet plates.. so pretty! I was going to place a small dessert plate or bowl on top, but this plate is so beautiful just on its own! Plus let’s be real. If I’m cooking for Easter (which is still up for debate) it won’t be fancy and one plate is all we need. Just our little family this year! Unless we end up inviting friends or heading somewhere else. Last year a friend threw something together for a group and I was saved from cooking! Fingers are crossed. ;) If anyone wants to bring over Easter dinner I’ll happily supply the cute tablescape. What says spring and Easter more than tulips and bunnies and eyelet plates? It’s a win for all involved.

The white bunnies are from the dollar bins at Target! I think they were $3 each. So cute! I can’t find them on-line but will link some similar options at the end of my post.

A few more pics for fun..

I hope my Easter table gave you a few ideas for this weekend or future spring/summer events! I love setting a pretty table for each season and then just leaving it up and ready. It reminds me to invite people over more often! The meal is often take-out at my house, but I’ve found that when you are hanging out with good friends who make you happy what you are serving just doesn’t seem to matter much.

Happy Sunday! One week until Easter. It’s sneaking up quickly isn’t it!? My console table has a new addition I’m feeling pretty good about. My “welcome spring candy vase!” Full of beautiful faux pink tulips and my favorite Easter candy.. Chicks Ducks and Bunnies. Those cute and colorful Sweetarts get me every time. They are actually my second favorite Easter candy just a notch below Cadbury Eggs, but I didn’t think my chocolate eggs would make the cut for this spring arrangement.

Guess I’ll just have to eat those quickly without displaying them first. :)

I’ve seen this idea a few different ways and wanted to try it. You just put one clear vase inside of another vase that’s a little larger. Place your flowers in the middle smaller vase and your candy in the space between the two vases. So simple! There are so many different ways you could style this!

I used two vases I had on hand and because there wasn’t a huge size difference between them, I could only get candy to fit around 2/3rds of the vase. There is a little section in the back with no candy because the candy was thick and when I filled the front it slid the vase back. I linked the two vases I used above, but wanted to mention that if you purchase them. If you want the candy to go all the way around the vase you might want two clear vases with a bigger size difference.

I didn’t mind one bit because I wanted to put this on my console table and you can’t see the back side anyway. :)

Well I’ve done it. I’ve found what might just be my favorite Amazon purchase. EVER. I know. That’s saying a lot right!? But seriously.. I am so in love with this acrylic floral vase! Ahhh! Look at the beautiful arrangement I made with it in MINUTES. I discovered this on Amazon and was so excited to try it out when it arrived that I totally spaced taking a picture of the vase before I put flowers in it! You can check it out on-line, but it basically has 24 circles (12 in each row). You slide the top off a little to add water and then slide it back on, cut up flowers and set them inside the circles! That’s it! You honestly don’t need any flower arranging skills to make a beautiful arrangement.

I used tulips and little white flowers as a filler. After I set my flowers in both sides of the circles I just filled in the middle (setting flowers in any circle so that I couldn’t see the vase/holes anymore). It’s a perfect table centerpiece for Easter or Mother’s Day or any event really! It would be beautiful just as decor too.. on an entry table or the kitchen or a coffee table. You can use this year round! My mind is spinning with ideas! Oh think about it filled with greenery during December!

After my flower arrangement in my new vase took no time and turned out even more beautiful than I pictured, I decided this was my most favorite Amazon purchase ever. I wanted to make sure I felt that way so I started thinking about all of my favorites from Amazon. It was hard narrowing my list down! I have so many Amazon favorites that I use and love. I’m sure we all do. I narrowed it down to the items I truly use daily or just LOVE and would buy again in a heartbeat. Can you guess what some are? :)

My junk drawer holds two of them! My favorite pens and my favorite little hand held vacuum I use to keep my drawers clean. Purchases that get used daily!

My flameless candles are definitely among my favorites! I love having candles on in the evening. It just adds such a cozy glow! Even in the summer I have candles out, but I always worry about starting my house on fire – ha. These are battery operated, have a remote and look so real! I love turning them on in the evening and watching them flicker. I’ve ordered so many of them and have given them as gifts to friends who now love them too!

I especially love them for my tables during the holidays. The most beautiful AND safest way to entertain! :)

These leather boxes definitely make my favorite list. I switch my decor around often and every time I re-style these shelves my boxes are the only item that stays put! They are large and so beautiful and just look perfect on a shelf. A little pricey for Amazon, but worth it! The gold hardware alone makes a beautiful statement.

If the kids need me I have my cell phone. Laugh all you want babe.. I come prepared. :)

I’m kicking off today’s post with lots of clutter. Just what you wanted right? ;) I’ve shared this decor closet before but yikes.. it might have hit a new low kicking off 2023. I love decorating and sharing ideas with all of you. I also love any and all home decor.. vases especially. As you all know. :) What I don’t love is how quickly my vase/home decor obsession can take over my house. I was due for an edit!

Whenever I’m organizing a space like this I take EVERYTHING out. So my entry looked like this for a few days.

And my hallways looked like this.

But that wasn’t enough mess and clutter and chaos for me. Oh no. I decided mid clean out to take things next level and empty my dining room buffet too.

And my white built-ins. Because why not?

Since I didn’t want the top cabinets to feel left out I took everything out of them too. Time for a change. And more clutter to add to the hallway!

Seriously we lived in such a mess for a while!

I finally got through everything and was ruthless about what I kept. This was just part of what left my house. I gave some to friends and took the rest to Goodwill.

Remember this scary before?

Here is the after. You heard them! Angels are back and singing louder than ever. ;) What a difference right!? This feels amazing. I only kept things I LOVE and USE OFTEN. That was what I asked myself as I looked at each item. Do I LOVE this? Do I decorate with it often?

The top shelf is holding the clear and blue vases and jars I use in the summer when we entertain in the yard. Other vases and bowls are below.

I even had room for the trays I’m not using at the moment on my shorter shelf. I wish I could have donated all of Kenny’s motorcycle jackets since I don’t love and use them. Ha. Not an option.

I set art/prints I’m not using at the moment and a few larger vases on the bottom right.

Plants and pots on the bottom left.. those will be emerging more in the summer. And an empty shelf above them!

These baskets are so good! Mine are the large size – color is grey. I’ve had them for years and use them in a couple of other closets too. In my decor closet I use them to hold smaller seasonal items in Ziploc bags. Fall items are in this basket.

I don’t have an after for you of the clear built-ins yet because I might paint them before I style them. I pained the back of these cabinets grey initially, but the dark paint makes it hard to see items if they are muted which is why I’ve only decorated with white dishes. Time for a change!

I’ll keep you posted on that one. :)

This makeover isn’t anything spectacular, but I’m sharing it because I hope it motivates you to empty closets and cupboards that are overstuffed in your home. I’ve learned through years of experience that the only way to really stay organized is to live with less. Continue to edit your spaces and only keep what you love and use. Because I share decor for a living I have to go through my decor storage often, but other spaces I can clean out and keep clutter free for years. Find the hot spots in your home and just start! Pull everything out and live with the mess for a few days while you go through items and donate donate donate.

What was that?

Time to DONATE. :) The more you do it the easier it gets. Pass items on to someone else to enjoy while you enjoy a clean, clutter free space. It really is so freeing! When your home is clutter free so is your mind.

Made it to the weekend! I hope yours is going well so far! San Diego finally got some sun (still cold!) but so nice to see our blue sky again. We snapped these pics at a Bar Mitzvah we recently attended for one of Kole’s close friends. We had such a good time! The ceremony was beautiful and the party after was so much fun.

We even had El with us for part of the time (she was home for Spring Break!). I never got a pic of Kole and his friends in their cute little suits. They were living their best lives! Ha. Addison has been planning school events and performing in two different plays (Rent and Mama Mia) so she has been so busy. I loved that El got to see her performances.. timing was in our  favor! Plus it just felt so good having her home for a week and hearing all 3 of my kids talking and laughing. Now that El isn’t living at home I completely understand why my mom gets so happy every time her kids are all together. There is nothing like it. :)

This pic was from last year and not too much has changed. I got mostly done with this space and then couldn’t find lamps I loved (these are from our guest room) or anything for over her bed and then we got busy and my attention turned to other projects and I never finished her room!

Also speaking of Madewell favorites.. I haven’t taken a pic yet to share but for Christmas I got this leather overnight travel bag and LOVE it. I hope you’re having a good week so far! It’s going by so quickly. We’ve had a lot going on with the kids and a lot of rain. I’m so excited for sunny, warm days! I’m also excited for Sprig Break and Easter. Hopefully they will both be accompanied by sunny, warm days. :)

You might remember in the Fall when I experimented with using mini pumpkins as a vase filler. I loved the way it turned out and it was such fun seasonal decor that I decided to try something similar for Easter. Instead of pumpkins I used carrots! I present to you.. my carrot vase. :) Kind of cute, right? Or is it just weird? Ha ha. My kids thought it was a little weird but I’m a fan. :)

It took TWO minutes to put this together. Probably why I love it so much! I arranged my flowers in the center of this glass vase and then just dumped a few bags of mini carrots around the stems. The carrots slid in so easily! Then when I got to the top of the vase I just set a few individual carrots inside to fill all the way to the top of the vase. Then add your water! What’s up, Doc? Easy and done.

I set it on my island as a cute little arrangement with my tulips (of course I did). Love this for Easter decor! It would also be fun as a centerpiece for an Easter table for dinner. Another idea is using several small vases in the middle of the table with carrots and flowers. Any flowers obviously work, but adding some orange is especially fun. :) I made this last week because I wanted to see how long it lasted. It looked beautiful for about 5 days and then it was time to change the water. It does take a little work emptying the carrots and setting them aside so you can dump the water and then fill the carrots back in around the flower stems again.

Ideas like this with real items/food are better for short term decorating, but such a simple and inexpensive way to add some fun to your Easter table/decor!

How is your week going!? It is pretty dreary in CA right now with all of this rain. Can you be grateful for something and hate it at the same time? Ha.
