10 things

1)  I am obsessed with pens.  Have been for some time.  The pen aisle in Target is one of my favorite hangouts.  My kids get so bored in the pen isle.  They start hanging off of the grocery cart — “mom, can we pleeease go now!?”  But I don’t hear them.  I am lost in a world of fine point vs. medium point.   Retractable vs. soft tip.  Pilot vs. Sharpie.  Too fascinating to pull myself away.  It is rare that I leave Target without a new pen in hand.  Am I alone in this obsession?  I felt you all should know.  Maybe you already did?  Admitting it is the first step.

2)  When I shared some of our paint progress several of you asked about Kole’s room.  Here’s a look at how his room is coming along!  I choose another grey (surprise) but one with more of a brown tone (it ties in with his bathroom).  I have fun plans for his room!  But they aren’t happening right away.  His room is upstairs with the girls, but for the next year or two while he is still little I’m going to put him in our guest room because it’s closer to our master bedroom.  He is still in a crib (I wanted to wait until we move and get settled before buying a bed for him) and potty training is still a work in progress.  To say the least.  I hear over and over each day about how the potty is “scary.”  And because of everything we have going on with the new house there has been little time for consistency on my part.  I would have been in a total panic if my girls weren’t potty trained by now.  But that’s what happens when you have multiple kids.  You learn to mellow out.  In addition to learning how to mellow, I am also learning that boys are so different from girls in so many ways.  Speed is one of them.  :)  I told Kenny that if he starts Kindergarten and still isn’t potty trained that is when I’ll start to stress.  SO.  For the above reasons (and because I’m not quite ready to admit he isn’t a baby anymore) I’ll be keeping him close to me and decorating his “big boy room” when I feel like he is a big boy.  And when the potty isn’t quite so scary of course.

This is a fun bench seat in his room with nice, deep drawers for trucks, trains, puzzles, and most likely anything Toy Story related.

And here is a peek of his closet so far.  Similar to the girls’ with drawers and lots of open shelving.
  3)  Summer essentials: pajamas and sunglasses.

4)  A couple more of my TV iPhone pics.  These are from HGTV’s High Low Project.  LOVE the striped rug and navy nail head chairs in this dining room.  I’m going to have a striped run in my house.  Not sure what color or in what room, but I will have to have one somewhere.  I have loved them for so long.  Am I alone in this obsession?

I love the rug in this picture too.  And the pop of color that the blue dresser adds.
5)  We found El’s dream car.
6)  And she found a solution for all of her too itchy clothes.  And for some of her not so itchy clothes.

7)  I’d love to share a really sophisticated book list full of classics I’ve been reading this summer, but if I’m being truthful, the above pic (and others just like this) pretty much sums up my summer reading material.  And my Fall reading material.  And Winter and Spring.  I’d also love to share some of the tips I’ve picked up from all of my reading but I’m to busy doing this…

8)  Game of chase at the park.
9)  Kole said to me yesterday “I want juice mommy!”  And I said “how do you ask nicely?”  To which he responded in his sweetest singing voice “Iiiii waaant juice moooommy…”
I give up.
10)  Enjoy your day.

Hardware

Thank you all so much for your kind words after my paint update!  Hearing from my blog friends is always such a bright spot in my day.  I have truly enjoyed sharing our building process with all of you and I am constantly touched by your uplifting words.  I am also extremely appreciative that you have all stuck with me during the past year while my posting has been a bit sporadic and definitely heavy on the new house stuff.  At some point (fingers crossed!) I will be able to put more time into my other hobbies including blogging.  It is such a fun outlet for me.  I love sharing ideas and connecting with all of you so much.  But my blog has definitely had to take a back seat this past year because well..  as much as I try to avoid it, I do have to sleep.  :)  So bear with me these next two months while we finish up the house and move.  I will document it all – I just can’t promise that my posts will be all that exciting.  Or consistent.  Or grammatically correct.  Or make much sense at all.  In fact, I might ramble a lot.  I do that when I’m tired.  Kind of like I’m starting to do right now…

Moving on!

Tonight we are knee deep in hardware.  Picking hardware started out so fun…

Wandering happily through hardware stores and checking out fun options on-line.

Getting lost in my happy place picturing every single drawer and cupboard in my house with a label.  :)
But at this point.. tonight..
I am over it!

I snapped this picture two hours ago before Kenny and I started going through boxes of some of the door hardware that arrived today to make sure we got everything right.  We have two different spread sheets going on for hardware (one for doors and one for cabinets/built-ins) that details how much of what goes where and in what size and where we got it from.  Usually I tease Kenny for his over the top detail oriented spreadsheets, but I have to say that his spreadsheets have saved me through this process!  I could NOT have done this without him.  There is just no more room in my brain for remembering these kinds of details.  To be honest there isn’t a lot of room in my brain for much of anything anymore.  Building a house will do that to you.  Packing up a house and getting ready to move will do that to you.  Summer with kids home all day will definitely do that to you.  All three things together?  Quite a lovely combination.  Of course I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Just keeping it real by openly admitting that my brain cells have sufficiently suffered. :)

**sidenote: You can always tell how tired I am by my post titles.  Notice today’s post is titled “Hardware.”  Yup.  That’s all I got.

Here is a peek of some of my favorite hardware that you’ll see throughout the house.  I know gold is making a comeback right now, but I am a polished chrome girl at heart and always will be.

And oh yes.  There will be labels.

Paint Progress!

Hello friends.  How is everyone doing?  Well I hope.  I’m well too.  Thanks for asking.  :)  We have two weeks of summer left and I honestly can’t believe how quickly it has flown by.  I was so hoping we would be moving before the new school year started but alas, it is not going to happen.  Instead I think we will be moving a few weeks after the new school year starts.  You know.  When we are right smack in the middle of back to school night and beginning of the year get to know you projects and 10 BILLION forms that need to be filled out and sent back in.  Good times ahead for sure!  Our painters just finished today and are cleaning up tomorrow.  Then we have only a few weeks to the finish line!  I can’t wait.  I’m excited about the house but even more excited to be DONE building the house.  :)

Here are a few pics I took last week of the paint progress…

All ceilings I kept white except the formal living room ceiling you see right when you walk in the house.  I chose a darker grey for inside the box beam ceiling in this room.  This first picture was the ceiling with just one coat of paint.

And this is the ceiling finished.  I’m so happy with the way it turned out!

This is Addison’s room.  Oh my word.  We had quite a time figuring out paint for the girls rooms.  My plan was to pick colors (and bedding) out myself knowing that the girls would be happy with whatever I came up with.  But Kenny thought the girls should have more ownership in the process and should pick everything out themselves.  Right up until Ellie started talking about panda wallpaper and my little pony bedding.  That’s when I sat back and smiled.  Kenny looked at me like “oh crap” and I looked at him like “see – told you.”  :)  SO!  We told the girls they could pick out the color they wanted for their walls (mom picked the samples) and then they can help with a few other future decisions.  It was a nice compromise for all parties involved.  :)

Addison really wanted a blue wall and I love the way her color turned out.  It’s bold, but not too crazy and I know it’s going to be a fun backdrop for decorating!  I tend to lean more towards blue/green colors myself so I knew I’d like the color she picked.

Ellie’s room on the other hand was a different story!  I have to admit that purple would probably be my last choice for a wall color and I tried awfully hard to convince her to go with something else.  Of course she didn’t budge.  So then I tried to convince her to go with a lighter shade (I put several up on the wall).  But no.  She wanted a bold purple wall so badly.  When we went to see it for the first time after it was painted she squealed.  A huge squeal of excitement and honestly the biggest grin I think I’ve ever seen on my 9 year old’s face.  She looked at me and said “I love it mom.”  And at that very moment I decided that I too LOVE purple.  :)
In fact, it’s my new favorite color.

I told Kenny that we may be sleeping on a mattress on the floor for a few years because the girls’ rooms are going to take priority over ours!  I can’t wait to decorate them.  Kid spaces are so much fun.   And yes.  You know me.  I am equally excited to go to town organizing those closets!  :)

I’ve loved seeing the process of painting all of the doors.  Doors were placed in various rooms in big circles held together by a piece of wood and nails at the top.

Fascinating, right!?  It doesn’t take much to impress me.  :)

Here’s the color I went with for my scrapbook room!

A lovely aqua.  Of course.  I’m nothing if not predictable.  :)
This was just one coat so it’s a bit brighter now.

Still debating the dutch door color.  I’ve decided to either leave it white, or paint it a dark grey to match the kitchen islands because it’s located right off of the kitchen.
This is the only shot I have of our bedroom and it really is mostly the hallway to our bedroom.  It’s another shade of grey that has a bit more blue in it.  I’ll share better pictures once we are moved in.
At this point things are still a mess!  Lots of plastic and paper and tape.
And ladders and buckets and tools.

I can’t wait to go to the house tomorrow to see it all cleaned up.  Then I need to clean me up.  I have paint on my shoes, paint on my clothes, and paint on my camera from walking under a doorway mid spray.  :)

Organization

Back to School Organization

It’s that time friends!  August is here and summer is winding down.  Are you cheering or crying?  We have a little bit of both going on around here.  :)  Whether we are ready for summer to end or not, the new school year is quickly approaching and we want to be ready for it, right?  Right.  I had so much fun sharing back to school organization tips on the news.  As a former school teacher and a lover of organization this happens to be one of my favorite topics!  Below are my best tips for back to school organization.  So sharpen your pencils and get ready for class.  :)

1} Half way through the summer (or right now today!) write a back to school checklist that includes everything you need to do to be ready for the first day of school.  I like to break my list into two sections:  THINGS TO DO and THINGS TO BUY.  Here are a few examples of things you might include in your list:

If you have your back to school check list written early you can take your time working on it throughout the summer and not feel rushed/stressed trying to get it all done the week before school starts.  Been there.  Done that.  Don’t want to do it again.  :)

2}  Clean out kids’ drawers/closets.  The beginning of the school year is a great time to go through your kids’ clothes.  Donate clothes that are too small and assess what they need and don’t need for the new school year.

This is a great time to organize your own closet too!  For no other reason than it will make you happy every time you walk in it.  :)  (full post on my closet organization here)

3}  Be prepared with a variety of school lunch ideas.  If you pack a sack lunch for your kids, spend some time in the summer searching for and trying new sack lunch ideas.  There are a lot of fun and creative alternatives to the typical PB and J sandwich on-line!

One of my favorite ways to mix things up is to use cookie cutters to cut different food into fun shapes.  The cookie cutters I shared on the news I picked up at Target.  Food just tastes better to kids when it’s in the shape of a butterfly, dinosaur or car, right?  This takes very little time and adds some interest to your child’s lunch making them much more likely to eat their food.  Which is always the goal.  :)
Another fun trick is to cut up fruit/veggies/cheese and put them on a stick.  My kids love to eat their fruits and veggies if I serve them this way.  Much more exciting than just a sack of apple slices and you are able to give them more of a variety of food too.  Bonus.

And of course, while we’re talking school lunches, don’t forget the napkin notes!  Take a quick minute to jot a little hello and I love you to your child on his/her napkin.  It will brighten their day.  :)

4} Create ways to simplify your morning routine as much as possible.  Do as much as you can the night before!  Pack lunches, get homework and backpacks ready, lay out breakfast dishes and clothes for the next day.  Involve the kids in this the day before!  They can help get their own things ready for the following day.  If you are leaving with the kids in the morning have your things ready to go also.

My favorite way to simplify our morning routine is to plan outfits ahead of time.  It works best for us to plan clothes a week in advance.  The girls lay out their outfits and we use ziplock bags labeled with each day of the week to hold accessories.  It only takes a little prep time on Sunday and saves us from a lot of morning drama throughout the week!  (full post on our system here)

5}  Control the paper!  We all know that once school starts the amount of paper that starts coming home is insane!  Don’t let it pile up!  Set up something in your house (file folders, a magazine holder, anything with slots in it) to hold important papers.  I have used file sorters in the past but lately have been using my magazine holder (from Ballard Design).

I like to have a place for paper that “needs action.”  These are forms that need to be signed, the b-day part invite you need to RSVP to, etc.  Anything you need to do something with goes here.  The next slot is for forms to save.  And then I just like to have a place to keep papers for each child.  I’m going to figure out different way to set this up in my new house so I can include child #3.  :)

Another way to control the paperwork coming home is to set up a homework station.  Having a set place to store and organize all of the kids’ art supplies and homework has been a life saver for us!  Find a drawer/cupboard – anything that works and create a place to keep paper, pencils, and any other supplies your kids need for homework each day.

And the final way to organize your paper is to have a system set up for special work/art your kids bring home that you want to save.

I use a crate and file folders that are organized by the season (fall, winter, spring) to hold special work until I have time to put it in my kids’ albums.

6}  Use a large calendar to keep your family  schedule on track.

I just bought this fun desk calendar at Target – so cute, right?  And I’m so excited to use it next year to organize our schedule.  I have my own separate planner and Kenny uses his iPhone, so this calendar will mostly be used for the kids’ schedules.  I’ll include things Kenny and I have going on any time it affects the kids.

I bought five different colored highlighters and gave us each a color.  My idea of a fun evening?  Organizing our schedule on a cute calendar with colorful markers.  :)  Now Ellie, for example, can look at the calendar and find all of the purple to see what she has going on.  No excuse for forgetting a library book on library day anymore!

I copied a past month from our last school year to share this calendar on the news.  I’m not going to include every day things like school, Kole’s therapy, etc.  Just the extra appointments and activities.

Having a calendar like this is a great way to help your family see what’s going on each week!  Just one more way to keep everyone on track and things running smoothly.
Whew!  That was a book.  :)  I hope a few of these suggestions gave you some ideas for you and your family.  Happy back to school organizing everyone!
:)

Back to School Organization (on the news!)

Hi friends!  I was on the Fox 5 San Diego news again this morning!  Talking about one of my all time favorite subjects: Back to School Organization baby!  You can check it out here.  I’ll be back soon with a full post on this beloved topic.  :)

p.s.  If you missed us on the news last time you can see our segment on Sibling Love here.  Yes today was just as intimidating as it was the first time around!  But the topic helped put me at ease.  :)

A fun sale/book!

Happy Friday friends!  I wanted to let you all know about a fun sale going on right now.  Courtney, a darling blog reader of mine, wrote an e-book called The Spaghetti Shots: how to take better photos of your kids during everyday life.  It is such a fun, easy read that is full of tips and tricks on how to capture better photos of your kids.  PERFECT for learning the basics of how to use a DSLR camera (no more auto!).  She is having a back to school sale today (Friday) and is offering this fun e-book on Amazon for only $2.99!  You can learn more about it and purchase it here.  I read the whole thing in one night and kept thinking “So wish I would have had this when I first bought my DSLR.”  I have learned a lot through trial and error!
My best trick for getting decent pictures of my non-stop on the go kiddos is to take A LOT of pictures.  For every pic that turns out great, I take anywhere from 5-15 that don’t look so hot.  But it is SO worth it when you capture that moment that just melts your heart.
This little guy doesn’t have to work to hard to melt mine.
:)
Enjoy your weekend!  I hope it’s a happy one.

Grass and lights

THANK YOU thank you to everyone who took a minute to comment on my last post.  It was just what I needed!  For you all to make my decision for me.  :)  Trendy trellis won HANDS DOWN.  Kenny’s head is so big it might pop and I am excited about my stairs.  You all rock.  :)  Just popping in quickly with a few recent house pics.
We have grass!

And outdoor lights!

And everything is prepped for paint!

And there’s a bathtub in my garage!

K.  That last one isn’t that exciting.  More of a pain actually.
Although I sat in that bathtub for 10 minutes today in my garage.
With a bowl of ice cream.
Hiding from my kids.
How many more days of summer?

Trendy vs. Safe

Trendy vs. Safe.  That is the question!  One I have pondered more times than I can count this past year during our build.  It’s a question I think a lot of us debate when we are decorating our homes.  My motto has usually been to keep big, more expensive items neutral and then play around with things that are easy to change like paint and accessories.  But.  Lately I’m noticing (when gawk at my Pinterest decor boards) that my favorite spaces have bold/trendy decor and furniture.  So sometimes I think it’s good to just go for it!  Do what you love regardless of whether or not it will look trendy!  And then I chicken out and go neutral.  :)
Today I’m trying to nail down a carpet runner for my stairs.  I love the look of all wood stairs, but I have three little ones who are up and down the stairs 100 times a day.  And I would prefer for those little ones to not fall flat on their faces 100 times a day.  So the posts and balusters will be white, the treads and handrail will be stained the color of my wood floor, and there will be a carpet runner in the middle.  Sounds simple enough, right?
After eliminating piles of options (trying to find something that works with our wood floor color and the grey paint) these three are left.  And once again I’m torn.
Go with the trendy pattern on the left?
Or play it safe with something more neutral like this one?

Kenny loves the pattern.  He is always trying to push me outside of my comfort zone and stop me from playing it so safe.  I don’t know why.  I play safe so nicely!  He said “get it and if you’re sick of it in 5 years we’ll get a new stair runner.”  I said “can I have that in writing?”  He said “ha ha.”  I said “no seriously – get our your pen.”  It actually will be a fairly inexpensive, easy thing to change because it’s not connected to any other carpet and is a small amount.  Plus with wear and tear that stairs get we may be ready for something new before too long anyway.  But still….  ???  Too trendy for the stairs???

Here’s more beautiful trellis I’m considering.  Wallpaper!  So fun!  I’m putting wallpaper in my powder bathroom (I don’t have the pattern to share but will soon!) and I’m debating the blue wallpaper above for  somewhere else.  Maybe the pantry?  I get so excited about it and then something holds me back.  Will I be sick of it in a year?  Will it look too crazy bold?  Will I regret the decision?
I kind of doubt that I’ll regret the blue since I have been in love with aquas for years…
I’m going to try to not go as overboard with this color in the new house.
No promises.  But I’ll try.  :)
So what is your opinion?  Do you like to play it safe?  Or is your motto go bold or go home?  Which stair runner do you prefer?  The Trendy Trellis or the Neutral Nelly?
Note to self:  No more late nights with the Property Brothers.
Here’s a peek of one space I didn’t chicken out on.  My upstairs laundry room cabinets are green!  Or blue!  Kind of both depending on the time of day.  I think I’m going to love it!  Especially when the room is finished and the floor isn’t covered with red paper.  :)  Since this space is upstairs by the kids’ rooms I figured I could have a little fun with it.  Next step is to teach the kids to do their own laundry.
So they can have a little fun with it too.

Quick Tip – helping kids unpack from a trip

Popping in with a quick tip today!  Really quick since I’ve already stayed up WAY too late watching the season finale of HGTV Star (had it recorded and have been dying to see who won!).  I need to get over my HGTV addiction.  And my Pinterest addiction.  And my Container Store addiction.  And my turkey sandwich addiction.  And maybe while I’m at it I’ll get over my planner addiction.
But that’s a story for another day.
For now I’m sharing a quick tip on how to help your little ones unpack their own suitcase after a trip.  In an organized way of course.  :)  If you say to kids (especially young kids) after returning home from a trip “go and unpack your bag” they usually don’t make much progress.  I know this because of the countless times I’ve told my girls to “go and unpack your bag” and have witnessed them do nothing more than dump their clothes on the ground and maybe move them around a bit.  The reason this often happens is because they are overwhelmed by the task (or because they just don’t want to work.  But for the sake of sounding like a great mom who’s kids LOVE hard work, I’ll give them {and me} the benefit of the doubt and say that they must be overwhelmed).  So I taught them a simple way to unpack.  This is actually how I pack and unpack my own clothes for a trip and how I sort laundry.

I have my girls take their clothes out of their suitcase and put them into piles.  Time to categorize!  All dresses in a pile.  All skirts.  Then pajamas (here’s where I always wonder why we have a bigger pile of pj’s than we do clothes?).  Swimsuits go in their own pile… and so on and so forth.  It is much easier for my kids to categorize everything first.  It breaks the chore down into a more manageable task.  Then they can get to work putting away their piles.

Here’s a pic of Ad I snapped while she was unpacking from our Utah trip last week.  Once she has her clothes in piles she can grab some hangers and hang each group of clothes up together.  Our drawers and closets are organized the same way (like clothes are grouped together) so once the clothes are in piles, it’s a breeze to put everything away.
Skirt pile simply gets placed in the skirt drawer.

Shirts are hung in the shirt section of the closet.
 Dresses with the dresses.
You get the idea.

This way our closets and drawers stay organized and unpacking is a piece of cake!

When I do laundry, I have my girls do the same thing.  I give them a pile of their clean clothes and they take the pile to their rooms and separate them into categories before they put them away.  Such a simple thing to teach your kids to do, but by breaking the task down into manageable pieces (or should I say piles?) it doesn’t feel so overwhelming and the task actually gets done.

In an organized manner no less.
Most of the time.

Organized Silverware

Silverware!  Talking silverware today.  I organize my silverware in a simple white organizer (sharp knives in the back far away from little fingers).  This has worked great.  But it’s not as fun as how my mom and SIL are organizing their silverware!  My plain white tray is a little ho hum compared to this…
How cute are these blue organizers!?  A steal at TJ Maxx ($7 bucks each!).

My SIL has them in orange.  And apparently TJ Maxx has LOTS of color options available.  I am so heading to my local TJ Maxx!  The other cool thing about these silverware organizers (aside from the fun punch of color) is that they have great rubber grips on the top and the bottom of them so NO sliding around in the drawer.

That is my biggest pet peeve with my make-up organizers.  I love them.  But they don’t have grips on the bottom and they slide around despite my multiple make-shift solutions to keep them in place.  Wondering if these colorful silverware organizers would work well for make-up too?  Hmmm…  what else could I use them for?  Pencils and crayons in the craft room?  Tools in the garage?  Hair accessories for the girls?  The options are endless!  I can’t stand it!  I need my house to be finished ASAP so I can organize again!  I’m having serious withdrawals.
My mom and SIL sent pics of their newly organized silverware drawers to each other via text and typed “won’t Erin be proud!”
SO proud.
So very proud indeed.

Decorating on a budget (fun ideas)

While I was hanging out with my brother and SIL last week (I’m really missing their sweet new baby right about now!) I asked Dayna if I could take a camera tour around their darling home.  She has decorated everything so cute without spending much money at all and I love so many of her ideas!  So of course I had to share them with all of you.  :)

My brother made these planter boxes with just some wood and wood screws.  Then he and Dayna painted them black and added some pretty flowers.  Such a small project that makes a huge difference on the exterior of their house.  Yea for planter boxes!  I love them.

Another fun exterior project – Dayna spray painted a simple, inexpensive twig wreath from a craft store yellow (used to be brown).  I love the pop of color it adds to her black front door.

Her entry way is so welcoming.  She painted an old desk turquoise.  Then she bought a sunburst mirror at Target for above the table and it wasn’t quite big enough so she attached it to a simple, inexpensive mirror.  Perfect!  She also just bought that cute lamp with the yellow shade at Target.  Add a simple white bird (you know I’m a fan of using a bird or two when decorating), a few magazines and wa-la!  A super stylish entry way.

This is a fun photo gallery hanging over her couch.  I love the way she used two frames with large black borders and two frames with large white borders.  It keeps things interesting but cohesive.

And here is a corner of sweet little Finn’s new nursery.  Isn’t it adorable!?  The crib was a Craigslist find ($30!).  My brother worked his magic to fix it up a bit and make sure it was safe and then Dayna spray painted it white.  What a difference a little spray paint can make.  She didn’t know if she was having a boy or a girl when she decorated this space and I think she did a great job keeping it gender neutral but still full of color and personality.

The fun Alphabet and You Are My Happy wall hangings were Target finds.
The butterfly mobile was her one splurge ($50 ordered on Etsy).  I do this a lot when I decorate.  Splurge a bit on one thing that you really love or that creates a focal point or stands out in your space.  Then everything else around it can be inexpensive and you still have an upscale look.
Moving on to her 3 year old’s “big boy room.”  This was a bookcase Dayna had that she painted black. Then she simply added fun patterned wrapping paper to the back of it.  Such an easy, inexpensive way to add color and pattern to a room.  The best part is how easy it will be to switch things up.  She can change the wrapping paper and re-paint the bookcase to create a whole new look.  Re-using items you already have in a different way is a great way to save some money while adding character and charm to a room.
Drew loves owls.  This chair was a TJ Maxx find.  I love decor that personalizes a space.  The owl was a gift from grandma from Pottery Barn Kids.  I know this because Kole has one too.  :)

And here is Drew’s new big boy bed.  LOVE this!  The sunglasses and colors in this bedding are so fun.  Especially with the blue table and bright yellow lamp (bedding and furniture found at… where else… Target!).

Then she simply hung a baby picture of Drew and added some paper lanterns from the dollar store to complete the room!
Ok.  How fun is this headboard!?  SO easy.  A large piece of particle board from Home Depot, some quilt batting, and fabric.  That’s all you need!  Oh – and a staple gun.  Along with someone who’s not afraid to use it.

Just like the bookshelf lined with wrapping paper, you can easily change this when you’re in the mood for a different look.  I love the way it gives her room a dramatic focal point.

And I had to snap a quick picture of what was laying on the end of Dayna’s bed.  Only because it reminded me so much of my own.  :)
Dayna’s house is proof that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a beautifully decorated home.  By just tweaking and re-using some things she already had along with a few simple DIY projects she has created a welcoming space that totally matches her personality.  I LOVE it all!  Thanks for letting us take a peek into your darling home Dayna!  Call me the next time you head to Target.  :)
