Holiday Prep

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux weeping eucalyptus trees/metal black lanterns/hand woven jute rug/scattered tan rug/black planters}

Happy November! I can’t believe it’s here! October flew by so quickly I hardly had time to catch my breath. We didn’t get it together for family costumes this year. The kids were doing costumes with friends for school and we were so busy leading up to it. We had several parties going on Halloween weekend so last minute Ad and I grabbed our beloved reindeer pjs and off we went! A perfect solution since we are all about comfort! And don’t repeat.. but I’ve been listening to Christmas music since September. Ha. :)

{reindeer pajamas}

Grateful one of my three still wants to twin with mom. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar garland/eucalyptus garland}

I have been decking the halls and will have lots to share soon! I’m using my same garland this year and I wanted to share it again because the 9 foot faux cedar garland sold out and I know the 6 foot will be gone soon too!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar garland/eucalyptus garland/brass candle holders/hanging bells/white ceramic vase/dough bowl}

I’ve had so much fun pulling it out again this year. Nothing like holiday greenery. An instant pick me up!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{rizzo textured ornaments}

Sharing a few things I’m using to decorate this year. These ornaments came in the mail and are stunning! Amazing quality. Kind of a splurge so I just ordered a few and I’m spreading them out between 2 different trees and mixing them with other things. They have such a cool modern vibe.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{glitter stars/star objects/mercury ornaments/bells/brass reindeer/gold bead garland/similar gold bead garland}

Gold with a splash of red/maroon in my family room this year!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{chunky knit throw/knitted tree throw/center stripe pillow}

These two green throws are both beautiful options! They are different shades of green so I wanted to show them side by side. Sorry about the horrible lighting here.. I snapped these pics quick with my phone on a cloudy day!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{plaid melamine dinner plates/gift bags/wrapping paper}

These plaid plates are one of my favorite purchases this year! I love melamine! I want to say I love melamine because then my kids can’t break them but really I break more things than my kids to so I’m happy they aren’t breakable for my sake! So cute for holiday entertaining or just every day dinner with the family this time of year. If things say they are sold out at the moment, be sure to put in your info (“notify me when it’s in stock”) if you want them because a lot of times Target re-stocks items.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar wire wreath}

This hoop wreath is another holiday favorite I was so happy they brought back! This was last year’s wreath with a black ribbon. This year they come with forest green ribbons and are stunning in person! I ordered several. It has already sold out and come back in stock twice in the last month.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{faux cedar & berry plant swag/wool jute rug}

These swags are also adorable and there are so many fun things you can do with them! Perfect on the back of chairs, on cabinets, over mirrors, etc. Same thing where they keep selling out and coming back in stock.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{large pine tree/medium pine tree/small pine tree}

DYING over these adorable pine trees! The branches! The gold pots! They are just so beautiful. I’m either going to group them together somewhere or have them in random spots all over my house. I wanted to share them quickly before they are gone too!

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{pre-lit faux snowy pine trees}

These faux snowy pine trees I’ve had for years and love pulling them out. They come with lights and light up so beautiful at night! In past years I’ve keep them up through January. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{fa la la doormat/merry bath mat/fa la la pillow cover/merry hand towel/pine tree hand towel/sleigh bell towel/wool jute rug}

A few fun PB items that I’m using this year! You can’t be unhappy when you have Merry and Fa la la all over your house. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{small wood & marble tree board/large wood & marble tree board/snowflake boards}

These marble and wood cheese boards are perfect for holiday parties! I’m going to display the little tree on a shelf but the large tree and round snowflake board (isn’t it adorable!?) are both fun options for charcuterie boards.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{holiday tree cheese boards}

This holiday cheese board I’ve had for years and just use for decor. It always looks so festive on my kitchen counters! So do our holiday pretzel hugs.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

We just made them last weekend for a party. Halloween style. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

1- ornament wood cheese boards   2- wood and marble boards  3- holiday tree shaped cheese boards

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{extra large wood cheese board}

You know me.. simple when it comes to all things food/cooking. This isn’t fancy but such an easy and festive way to serve snacks! I love doing things like this when we’re having a family movie night.

{extra large wood cheese board}

In Nov/Dec I get a little more creative. :)

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

{platters & boards/savor}

I mentioned this last year but one of my all time favorite gifts to give for teachers/neighboards/friends is a fun cheese board paired with a favorite board book! There are so many great options and the holiday boards would be so fun to give at the beginning of December! Then you’re done with your gift giving early and it’s something people can use during the holiday season.

Christmas prep (Sunny Side Up)

1- savor  2- the cheese board deck  3- platters & boards

4- graze  5- on boards  6- beautiful boards

Here are some board book options I rounded up! I’ll have more fun gift ideas up on the blog soon too.

Ok.. this post turned out really random. A little brain dump of holiday prep going on around here! I hope it’s helpful as you’re doing your own. I’m off to deck the halls! Lots to “wrap up” around here.

Happy my kids didn’t hear that one.. I’d get a nice eye roll for sure!

Ha. :)

  1. You and your daughter looked so cute in your comfy costume. Sounds like you had a fun Halloween/weekend. Looks and sounds like you are off to a good start for holiday decorating, Erin. I haven’t started decorating or even thinking about that, but I have started watching the Hallmark Christmas movies. Does that count? ;) You’ve got some lovely decor pieces that I will look forward to seeing what you do with. :) Thanks for sharing and good luck!

    1. Jeanne you are definitely on the right track if you are watching the Hallmark Christmas movies. That totally counts and should be the priority! Ha. ;)

  2. I love the tree forest in front of your fireplace. All of those trees are so cute!!
    This was a fun post…..a couple of weeks ago I bought some outdoor decor items at Lowes and can’t wait to set them up🎄🎄🎄

  3. Erin-BRING IT ON GIRL! NO time like the present-or LOL, the VERY NEAR future! ;-D
    Oh-the little trees! SO very much you can do with them for Christmas and also, for the “glum winter months”.
    I NEED those little trees. Sadly, I will not be buying any………
    With my Christmas Eve B day, I have accumulated more than my share of Holiday decorations. Gifts from others to me and
    well, of course, gifts from MYSELF to ME! Are Christmas items NOT the Fav thing to buy by MOST “normal ” people!?!
    You do a survey out on the West Coast, I will do the East Coast!
    Quick ques: WHAT “board book” is the most useful, do you think. I KNOW you HAVE to show diplomacy in your position, but just sort of HINT at it, ok? I need to buy one for the recently married daughter who is TOTALLY into doing up these lovely boards.
    BTW, I have done a similar Christmas tree board w/the cheese, meats, nuts pretzels, etc. in the shape of a tree, BUT rather than use grapes on the bottom, I did an xtra layer of cheese cubes and then cherry tomatoes. We have “fur kids”. The little spaniels keep the “empty nesting” from being too bad ;-/ Grapes are VERY bad for canines. kidney failure. A product so good for US and SO bad for them…… Hard to believe. Grapes are SO easy to drop and SO easy to gobble from the floor!
    So, if anyone is out there reading- this was my “DOG MOMMY “public service announcement. Now, as far as Peaches-Grapes are PROBABLY good for her! She is Veg/Vegan, right ;-D
    Take care Erin,
    Sharon/New England, living at the moment in a Mixed up mess of pumpkins, gold and silver, red and green.
    Getting an early start has its drawbacks!

    1. Hi cute Sharon! Loved your comment.. I love them all! :) If I had to pick just one board book I’d go with the Platters and Boards (navy cover). It just has so many beautiful inspiration pics! Plus the binding looks great on a shelf with that pretty gold lettering.. priorities.. ;)

      And seriously thank you for sharing that tip about the grapes! That’s so scary! Peaches can definitely gobble them up.. ha. Grapes always scared me so much when I had little kids too.. so easy to choke on! I always cut them up in little pieces. Cheese cubes and cherry tomatoes are a perfect solution! I hope you’re enjoying November! My house is STILL a mixed up mess of the two holidays! :)

  4. Seriously love all the decors. I wish I could get more, but I’m finding that the more I buy the more I need space to store them all. There’s nothing yet I want to get rid of so it’s just hard to continue buying new ones.

    1. I totally get that Debbie! I get rid of a lot every year because I bring in new items to share with all of you. You have to be careful bringing too much in!
