What a week! We’ve had a lot going on with the kids and travel lately but I’m home and planted for a while and have the itch to spring clean every corner of my house! I sat down today and made a list. It’s ambitious to say the least.. ha. My garage especially needs some attention! I need a little motivation to start this weekend so I rounded up pics of a few organized drawers around here. Drawers are always my go-to when I’m feeling overwhelmed! You can spend 15-20 minutes cleaning out a drawer and get a quick win that feels so good and motivates more organizing. If you feel overwhelmed or don’t know where to begin just pull out a drawer and start sorting. Forward motion spurs on more forward motion! Below are favorite organizers for drawers in our home that make me happy and remind me that while there is still a lot to do, some areas of our home are organized and functioning quite well. ;)
Clean out a drawer with me today and enjoy your Friday! :)
Happy Sunday from Zion National Park! Home away from home. :) We’re having a fun girls trip and I’m sad it’s already coming to an end! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend too! Below are fun round-ups from the week. Spring is always such a fun time for all things home and fashion! I’m especially loving the pillows and bedding and excited to do a little re-fresh in a few rooms. Enjoy your Sunday!
Sharing a few recent favorites around here and kicking things off with these fun woven bags! My girls have been using these similar crossbody bags for years and they were looking a little worn (by a little I mean a lot..ha). I was going to just order them each a new color of the same bag and then saw these with a woven look. CUTE and so fun for spring/summer!
They come with a wide and thin strap option and I love all of the gold details!
A fun pattern inside and plenty of room for your phone and essentials. My girls think they are the perfect size so a great gift for teens too! If you want the same style bag for half the price we all love these similar crossbody bags too and they come in lots of fun colors.
I recently bought this glaze stoneware pitcher (on sale still!) and love it in my kitchen. I’ve had it in a few spots holding different things. It’s such a unique pitcher shape and I love the pretty glaze look!
Beautiful faux hydrangeas! I’m excited about these. I have some from Pottery Barn that cost a lot more and these look more realistic. They are so soft to touch and the stems are nice and long. I love decorating with real and faux hydrangeas this time of year! I’m going to put some on my porch and some inside and keep working on the real hydrangeas I planted in my front yard that never look great. Ha. Someday!
So good right!? They come in a set of 3 so I bought 2 sets and will probably use 5-6 stems in most vases.
This jacket is also so good! It’s a looser fit and runs a little on the big side. Really soft and comfortable. Lightweight and great to wear over tees or workout clothes.
I’m heading on a quick overnight girls trip to see my high school friends this weekend and snapped this pic while I was packing! A few favorites I’ve shared before. :)
What I really want to share is this make-up brush cleaner and scrubber! I’ve been trying to be better about cleaning my make-up brushes more often and these make it so easy. I just add a little warm water and a few drops in the scrubber and touch the button to turn it on!
It spins and gets your brushes so clean in no time! The water is always so gross.. ha. I love how quick and easy it is to use because I bought a different brush cleaner a few years ago that’s more complicated and I never want to get it out to use it! Always looking for ways to save time and simplify life around here. :)
They will sparkle! This is a bad pic but since I’m sharing favorites this Sigma brush is the best brush I think I’ve ever used for concealer!
And #6 Saturday favorite is this spiral bound planner!
I wanted to try a different layout and I’m loving how this has a place for my weekly to-dos along with more room to break down each individual day.
Spiral bound is a must for me too! I couldn’t decide which color to get so I ordered two and will give one as a gift. Currently using the dutch blue because it’s fun for spring.
That wraps up this week’s Saturday 6! Off to spend some time with close friends. I hope you have something fun on your weekend agenda too. :)
Chatting about hats and hooks today! A topic only exciting for fans of organization. Or people who just really love hats. And hooks. :) The side of my cabinet that holds shoes in my closet has always felt like a great spot for vertical organization! I’ve wanted to add some hooks for years and it’s a project that just kept getting pushed back. I finally took some time to do it today and it took less than an hour! I can’t believe I put it off for so long! Above is the BEFORE..
{AFTER}
Here is the AFTER! So good right!?
Thank you! I thought so too. ;)
Kind of funny.. I put this project off thinking it would be a pain because I wanted the spacing to be right. Figuring out the spacing actually took no time and was so easy. I knew I wanted to hang my go-to crossbody bag on the bottom so I just picked a good spot for the bottom hook with room for my bag to hang. (I used this command hook with two hooks on it so I can hang more items in the future.)
Next I added a single hook above the double bottom hook with enough height for my hat to hang and then I just copied that same spacing for the two hooks above it.
I did a quick edit of hats and only kept these 3 that I wear often, but I can easily fit multiple hats on each hook if I ever want to add more. If you have lots of hats and need a different solution that holds more I rounded up a folder HERE of so many fun hat organization solutions! One option I just ordered for Kenny’s hats (he has a lot more than I do). I’ll share that as soon as I tackle his closet cupboard. Another to-do I’ve been putting off!
You can see how there is space between the side of the cupboard and the door to our bathroom. Just enough for hats and bags! :)
This felt so good to finish! I’m happy to report that I’ve been keeping this section of my closet organized too. My closet is taking me forever to finish, but I’m making sure that it’s easy to maintain as I go and that is the key to organization that sticks and makes life easier. One step closer to done! :)
Kenny’s hats are all over the place at the moment so I need to consolidate them. Some are in our closet and some are on this hook rack I put in his office a few years ago. That was when he was working from home more so it made sense to keep the hats in his home office. Now that he is going into his work office every day again it would be easier for him if they were back in our closet. But I wanted to share this hat organization solution if it’s helpful even though I’m about to change it! Below are a few more great ideas!
Vertical organization is my favorite and I’m a huge fan of using wall space to hang items! Last year I added this cute rattan rack to hang Kenny’s running/race medals. They were all piled in a drawer and I thought they should be displayed. :) This is just the side wall walking into his home office. You can see a peek of the fish tank he and Kole so lovingly take care of. Ha.
I loved it so much I decided to add one in Addison’s bedroom too!
It’s hanging on the wall when you enter her room. This space in rooms is a great spot for vertical organization because it’s usually just a blank wall when you enter a space.
A few other hooks in our home making life easier! My key hook that I made after we built our house and moved in. Finding our keys was such a daily struggle in our last home so I took care of that quickly by adding this simple 123 hook sign right when you walk in the door!
I also added hooks to the girls’ closets!
So helpful!
AND hooks to my small closet under the stairs where we keep our luggage.
These hooks have 3 times as many bags on them now.. time for a beach bag edit!
I hope this post gave you a few ideas for hat organization and ways to use hooks and vertical organization throughout your home! Anyone else a fan? Or is it just me over here geeking out over this topic?
Happy Sunday! Looking forward to a reset day at our house. I still need to unpack! And clean the fridge (got groceries and it’s a mess), prep some food and do laundry and plan the upcoming week. Hopefully I’ll find time to go on a walk and enjoy a little down time too before another busy week starts. I hope you are able to do the same! I’m always grateful for Sunday. Sharing last week’s round-ups below! Cute clothes (I have and love that Alo set in the first collage!), pretty things to spruce up your home for spring, Mother’s Day gifts (that always sneaks up so quickly), and your favorites from the week. I also added your favorites for the month of March. I hope you have a great start to your week! :)
Happy Saturday! My life-size backpack and I have been on the move again this week! :) It was spring break for my kids and we spent time in several cities looking at final college options for Addison. She made her decision Friday and Ellie was accepted into the school she wants to be at next year (she’s transferring to a school that’s a better fit for her major) and we are flying high to have these big decisions behind us! I have been emotional about it all but no surprise there.. lots of feelings of gratitude, excitement, sadness and anxiety about the changes coming our way. I know it will all be so so good.. but an adjustment for me. I really can’t imagine my day to day life with both girls not living under our roof. I will have to just take it one day at a time. I’m so proud of my girls and how hard they have worked and I will be brave and strong and excited for them! Then when they aren’t with me I will cry into my pillow and wander around the house with puffy eyes wondering who will watch Gilmore Girls (my go-to with Ad) and Lord of the Rings (my go-to with El) with me.
Start praying for Kenny and Kole.. they are so excited to deal with me this fall. Ha. ;)
We took a break from all things college during our travels to spend Easter Sunday with my sister and her family in SLC!
She spoiled us! Set the cutest spring table and cooked a delicious meal. We all had the best day together.
We were all able to celebrate Kole too! 14 years old. He’s partying with friends this weekend. I’m so grateful he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! Although now that I know how quickly high school years fly by I will most likely be hovering over him driving him crazy. It’s a price he will just have to pay for being the last to leave the nest. :)
So happy Car and I were able to sneak in some time together! It was a great trip.
Because I have been traveling all week and just got home I don’t have my usual random 6 things from the week to share so instead I’m sharing 6 things I’m loving at the moment!
These slides look so cute! Ordered and I will keep you updated but I have a feeling I will love them. I live in slides like this in the spring and summer! My recent go-tos are this pair and this pair.
VERY excited about these. They are so soft and easy to use and so much better for your face than washcloths! You can use them to take off make-up or just finish washing/dry your face after using your favorite cleanser. I love using a clean side to quickly wipe off the bathroom counter after I wash my face with them too! Game changer. Read the reviews and you will see why everyone loves them as much as I do!
While we’re talking face and skin I have to share this sunscreen with you! I just ordered it to try a few weeks ago because my dermatologist recommended it and I am so in love! I usually use this Elta MD sunscreen and love it too, but I have to say that I love this even more! It’s tinted and makes your skin instantly smooth and evenly colored when you apply it. It also hydrates your skin and gives it a nice glow and helps overall with wrinkles. It’s not just a sunscreen! Now I want to try other Revision products because this sunscreen is GOLD.
If I had a spot in my home for this cute chair I would have bought it months ago! I keep trying to figure out where I could put it! Ha. It’s so beautiful and looks incredibly comfortable and just fun to sit in. I know my kids would love the way it swivels! It has been a popular item and I’m not surprised. You can’t beat the price for something so stylish!
I’ve had a thing for woven bags for a while now! Favorites this spring include this Madewell tote and this Brigitte Satchel in various sizes. I was so excited to find this cute woven bag with a similar look for such a good price! It looks more expensive than it is and I love the long strap option. CUTE.
Last but not least is this beautiful faux tree! I’ve had it sitting in my on-line cart for a while now but I feel like it’s time to take the plunge and order. I have stared at it long enough to know I’m not getting over it!
6 things I’m loving at the moment and college decisions MADE.
Happy April! I hope you all had a nice Easter! It really feels like spring now. I can’t believe my kids just have 2 months of school left! Addison will graduate from high school and Kole from Middle School. Didn’t we just set goals for the new year yesterday? I know so many of you feel the same. Time needs to slow down, but I’m excited for April! I love this time of year when everything starts to bloom. I get the itch to organize and spring clean every corner of my home and then decorate it with ALL the pretty flowers. Faux of course because with all of that organizing and cleaning and decorating who has time to water plants? ;)
Today I’m sharing 4 spring arrangements I have in my home at the moment. These glass vases I bought in January got a new look when I added a few wildflower stems!
So pretty for spring. This rattan tray I’ve shared so many times! It comes in a set of 2 (this is the smaller size) and is a bit of a splurge but one of my all time favorites.
Second spring arrangement! How gorgeous is this vase!? Perfect to hold the beautiful faux stems I shared about a month ago. Love them so much I bought them for my powder bathroom too.
Next spring arrangement with two of my long time favorites vases. (My white vase is on sale at the moment and the grey vase just came back in stock!) I shared these real touch tulips last year.. they are so beautiful and realistic! This is the larger size of the set of 2 rattan trays. And yes! Easter is over. But I’m keeping my spring bunnies out through April.
Sharing my weekly round-up below! Spring dresses, teen gift ideas, Amazon deals, a few things I’m ordering, a great sale at PB, my hair favorites (the products and hot tools I use every day!) and your favorites from the week. :)
Happy Saturday! Kicking off my 6 favorites with my beloved Zella cloud fleece sweatshirt! A couple of years ago I bought the white Zella cloud sweatshirt and I loved it and reached for it so much that I bought another one! In white. Two of the exact same sweatshirt because I was so worried I would ruin or stain one and I didn’t want to live without it! For the past two years during cooler months I have worn one of my twin white sweatshirts at least once a week (no stains so far.. miracle!). It’s so incredibly soft and cozy and I always reach for it when my goal is to be comfortable. I saw a few weeks ago that it was back in stock again and I instantly ordered it in black and this pretty shade of green. I almost ordered it in white again but thought 3 of the same white sweatshirt might be a bit much. Ha. The new version is just as soft and comfortable! But it does fit slightly different. It runs a little bigger (you can tell in the picture above) and is a tad longer in the back vs. the front. My original has more of an overall cropped look. LOVE THEM ALL. Just so soft and cozy and perfect for cold days! (*Sidenote – I also ordered and tried the matching cloud wide leg sweatpants and didn’t like them. They fit strange and weren’t flattering. Just my two cents to consider if you’re debating the matching pants!)
The handles pop up making it so easy to take on the go! Perfect for kids, road trips, amusement parks or a day at the beach. I have a girls trip coming up and can’t wait to use it to share some favorite treats. :)
So my husband is a sock hoarder. Not intentionally, but he is and his sock drawers were bursting at the seams and socks were spilling into every other drawer on his side of our island. I have wanted to do something about this issue for so long and finally pulled him in the closet, dumped out his socks from ALL of the drawers and we got to work going through them. This little pile wasn’t even a fraction of them! He had no idea he had so many socks. We put a lot of socks in a bag to donate and while I had him trapped in the closet (ha) I quickly went through a few more drawers with him and found some shirts/shorts he wasn’t wearing anymore that we could also donate.
His drawers look so good now! Plus I can easily open and close them again! Casual and workout socks in the top drawer..
and his dress socks are in the drawer below.
{BEFORE}
I’m not a sock hoarder like my husband, but my sock drawers had also seen better days so I quickly went through mine too!
{AFTER}
Such a simple 20 minute project that is bringing me joy every time I do laundry! Which is most days of the week. :)
My work socks are also in the second drawer. Ha. Fuzzy socks and holiday socks since I work from home. I just noticed that I have a pair of my Ugg boot socks in the wrong drawer.. going to have to fix that asap. ;)
Workout socks go in this drawer with workout clothes. (This drawer has been organized for a while now!) I also have socks in my mudroom locker that are easy to grab if I’m rushing out the door. I’m all about sock convenience! Feels good to have that little project done and Kenny has promised to not order one more pair of socks for a long time. I promise to not buy one more pair of holiday pjs either! At least until October and then all bets are off.
And my favorite.. we can’t forget this cute bunny platter!
Wishing you the happiest Easter with the people you love!
6 – HAPPY 14TH KOLE!
We will be celebrating both Easter and a birthday this weekend since someone is turning 14 today! My sweet Kole. 14! I can’t believe it. This pic of us was taken a couple of years ago.
When I shared this family picture for Christmas so many of you commented on how grown up he is looking! He really is. He starts high school in the fall. (Cue the tears!) Clearly he needs to stop growing and clearly I need a more recent pic of the two of us. We are still thick as thieves and I’m so grateful! He teases me a lot more these days.. some things I do are definitely “not cool.” Ha. But we still sing and rap together in the car every morning on the way to school and when I drop him off he does a quick look around (to make sure nobody is watching) and then blows me a little kiss and waves like he has done every morning since preschool. He is the comedian of our family and keeps us all laughing. I came across this blog post the other day. One of my many “Dear Kole” posts from the good old blogging days. ;) Some of you were with me when he was this small so I thought it would be fun to share! So many memories came flooding back. He was a wild two year old! Ha. That post also linked to a post Kenny wrote about a medical scare I had soon after Kole was born which reminded me all over again of how grateful I am to be here with my family. Life is so precious and I don’t want to take a minute of it for granted.
So much to be thankful for this Easter weekend. Happy birthday Kole! You complete our family and I can’t imagine a world without you in it.
Happy Thursday! Easter weekend is upon us! We have had chilly weather lately for San Diego but everything is starting to bloom and I’m feeling warm weather vibes! I picked all of the lemons off of my trees in January and got a new little crop on these potted trees. They didn’t do well for years so I’m especially happy to see so many lemons this year. It’s hard to not feel happy looking at a lemon tree. :)
Confession.. I have not done well with my early to bed early to rise goal for the year lately. Ha. I’ve been staying up way too late this week blogging and watching Suits and then struggling to roll out of bed at 7:00 am just in time to rush Kole to school. I’ve definitely noticed that I don’t have as much energy. (Sigh.) My kids have spring break coming up but after that I’m hoping I can get back in a good routine. The upside of missing my morning walk is that I’ve been going in the evening with Addison and it has been so beautiful! Everything is so green right now because of all of the rain we’ve been getting and it makes me just want to be outside as much as possible.
In my last post I shared fun spring gift ideas for teens so I thought I’d continue the theme and share a few more spring gifts! I got these ready for a few friends and family and they turned out so cute I had to share them. :) I love this basket for gifts! Its’s like a little purse and you can put anything inside of it. I added these pretty faux peonies (they come in a set of 3 and that’s exactly what I have inside this basket). You could also add real flowers if you kept them inside of a vase inside the basket. The ribbon adds such a pretty touch! It would be cute on a table for spring decor too.
This is another cute spring gift and after Easter you could use a basket without the ears. :) Potholders, measuring spoons and some fun pastel kitchen cloths. Practical meets pretty!
I also fell hard for this fluted utensil holder and these pretty pastel utensils! Clearly I’m on a kitchen accessory kick. :) But I love this for a gift for Mother’s Day too!
Last but not least are these fun hostess gift ideas if you are invited to another house for Easter this year! These cute flower trivets are perfect because you can set all of your serving dishes on them on the table. Potholders are also great for Easter dinner and you know I’ve never met a board I didn’t love. Especially when it’s the shape of an egg or bunny. :)
I hope this gives you a few fun gift ideas for upcoming spring events! It’s a fun time of year to spoil people we love.
I’m so shocked and proud. Baskets for my kids are done and all ready for Easter morning. EARLY! Unheard of around here! Ha. We’ve got a busy few weeks with our girls making final college decisions so I knew I had to be on top of random things like Easter baskets and get them done early or it wouldn’t happen. I decided to share them with you today (along with a few additional items my kids already have/love) because I know shopping for teens can be hard! Between Easter and spring birthdays and graduation I’m always looking for fun gifts for teens this time of year so if you feel that way too these are a few things my kids love!
As my kids have grown older I buy less candy/treats for Easter and instead I just get a fun basket ready for each of them with items I know they will use/love! My girls are always so easy to shop for because we love a lot of the same things.
My kids all love the velcro toss catch game (we’ve had one for years and lost a paddle last summer!) and beloved hair products, brushes, hair ties are always a hit. The lulu wristlets I actually gave my girls for Christmas and they have loved them! They use them every day and have their keys attached instead of taking a purse to school. I hope they love the Stanley bag too! It has a place for their phone so nice to take on days they want to take a Stanley full of water to school.
The flower bowl is so cute to hold jewelry on a nightstand! I also threw in birdie alarms because they are both moving out in the fall and I want them to be safe at all times! The pink drink will absolutely make Addison’s day. :)
I’m so excited about this makeup organizer! Both of my girls have started putting their makeup on in their bedrooms sitting at their desks and it’s driving me crazy because makeup is everywhere. I’m going to help them consolidate and organize their makeup using these stylish/functional organizers. CUTE. I thought this would make a fun teen gift! Fill this organizer with favorite make-up, brushes, or lip gloss, etc. I added some of our favorites!
Speaking of lipgloss.. this lip mask is another item we all got for Christmas and have been using and loving. My lips look/feel so good when I sleep in this!
Teen boys are hands down the hardest for me to shop for! If you ask Kole what he wants for a birthday or special occasion he’ll just say a Roblox gift card.. womp womp. So not fun to give! I did include one in his basket to make him happy.. ha.
These are both Christmas gifts for Kole that were a hit! I ordered this extra frisbee disc to have on hand for a friend/birthday party. Great options if you need a teen boy gift!
My kids all still love crossword puzzles, Sudoku, word searches, etc. so I bought them each a teen activity book. I know Kole will love this bluetooth phone stand and I included his favorite hair gel and Mio. He loves lemonade and Mio is a great sugar free option. The deodorizing balls are actually a gift for mom.. you’re welcome. Ha.
I also bought him his first pair of Vuori shorts to try! If he is anything like his dad this won’t be the last pair. I can’t believe Kole is now wearing men’s small instead of kids’ XL! Feels so strange sometimes to have teenagers. I have a feeling I’ll be putting Easter baskets together for my kids right up until I switch to doing it for grandkids. Or I’ll have to turn my Easter basket efforts towards Kenny when the kids all move out. Ha. They are so fun to put together!
I hope this post gave you some fun ideas for teen gifts! Below are a few more popular items for teens. Now that my baskets are done I’m planning on sitting back and enjoying a Cadbury Egg.
Or two. Or ten.
That’s all I want in my Easter basket this year. ;)
Happy Sunday! I hope you love this week’s round-up! I’m sharing some CUTE spring dress options from Anthro and recent Amazon orders (our vacuum broke the night before my birthday so I ordered a new one as a gift to myself.. ha). Nordstrom has some fun new arrivals and I rounded up lots of Amazon favorites on sale. I’m also sharing my every day make-up! Lipgloss isn’t in the collage but I shared that in last week’s Saturday post HERE. It’s so good! Wrapping up this week’s Sunday Edit with your favorites from the week!
It’s late Saturday night and I’m typing this listening to the rain pouring outside. Sunday is going to be wet in San Diego! A perfect day to stay in pj’s and do a little organizing. :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
