1 – HELLO MAY
Happy May! The busiest month of the year for some! If you’re in that category, may the force be with you. We have a busy month ahead, but I’ve seen busier so I’m hopeful May won’t take me down this year. Gotta love my early in the month optimism. :)
2 – NEW FAMILY ROOM RUG
I finally took some pics of our new family room rug! I could not be more happy with it. It’s similar to my previous rug I had in this space for years (PB’s wool/jute rug). Both are great neutrals and I absolutely love them both!
This new rug is a wool/cotton blend and looks a little more high end. It’s so soft and smooth with an ivory/cream organic textured look. The best part? It won’t compete with seasonal decor. Always my goal for this room because I like to mix things up so much.

Large rugs are such a big investment and I knew we would have this for years so I spent a lot of time looking at options for this room. I’m thrilled to have a rug I love so much in this space! I’m watching it closely with my boys. They know we have a strict SHOES OFF policy in this room. I’m really hoping we can keep it looking nice and I’ll keep you posted on how it holds up! My last rug hid dirt so well.. fingers crossed this one does the same.
3 – CUSHIONS ARRIVED
In other fun home update news our new outdoor cushions arrived! You might remember when I picked out fabric for them back in February! I about died when the boxes started showing up..
DID NOT picture it being so many! But some of them are just holding one or two cushions. They are from RH and they have a service that will come next week to put the cushions out on our outdoor furniture and then they take the old cushions and all the boxes with them. I’m so grateful because Kenny and Kole break down enough boxes for me every week! They might have cried if I presented them with this mess.. ha! I will share how they look as soon as I get them all set up!
A big garage clean out is also on the upcoming agenda around here. It’s such a mess right now! I still have some Christmas item that need to be put up in our attic space above the garage. Kenny had shoulder surgery a while back so anything that required him lifting was put on hold. He’s feeling good again and it’s time! I started a few things this weekend and next weekend we are going to knock out the rest. I’ve been spring cleaning like crazy around here and will share my progress soon!
4 – FAKE BOOKS FOR THE WIN
Last time I was visiting family in Utah my mom, sister-in-law and I had a genius idea to all go on a Costco run together. Kenny and I had our truck with plenty of room in the back for the drive back to SD so I thought great! I can save myself a trip when I’m home. It wasn’t until the drive after Costco that we realized what a NOT so good idea it was to try to fit groceries for all 3 families into one car. Just the toilet paper alone took up most of the space! We were cracking up trying to fit it all in the car and I ended up scrunched in the back with the food while we laughed the whole way home. GOOD TIMES. :)
(Sidenote.. I’m wearing this yellow Nike crop sweatshirt AGAIN.. such a favorite!)
While I was visiting I also snapped pics of my sister-in-law’s cute living room! Love how she styled her shelves.
I walked up to check out the books she had in her collection and realized they are fake! Never would have guessed that until I tried to open them!
Such a great idea for shelf styling and I love the colors so I had her share the link for us all. :)
5 – FACE MASKS
This was just delivered and I’m so excited to try it! I’ve heard such great things about it. This clarifying detox mask is another skin favorite.
