Happy Monday! Before we get into all sorts of Christmas fun (I busted out a few trees over the weekend.. so excited!) I want to share Ad’s college bedroom makeover!

A few weeks ago we went to visit for parent’s weekend and we knocked out the rest of her room. How cute are these Texas waffles we had at the hotel breakfast!?

You might remember where we left off with this space. In August we moved her into a new house with sorority friends ready for year 3 of college (how has that gone by so quickly!?) She was starting over in a completely new space with ZERO furniture. We got the bed and mattress set up..

Bed Frame, Mattress, Nightstand
and we hung the pictures over her bed from her last apartment. We moved in her clothes and bathroom essentials and one night stand that was delivered but we were waiting on the rest of the furniture and rug. She had enough to start the school year but we knew we would need a round two to finish things off!
Ready to see her room now?

Bed Frame, Mattress, Nightstand, Wood Frames, Beach Prints (similar), Wall Shells, Texas Print, California Print, Sea Glass Print, San Diego Print, Surfer Print, Scallop Quilt & Sham, Palm Tree Pillow (similar), Shell Pillow, White Comforter Set, Rug, Rug Pad, Curtains, Curtain Rod, Jewelry Box, Bracelet Holder (similar), Lamps (similar)
Done and we love it! Very coastal and very Addison. :) She really wanted to stick with the same theme she had and loved in her previous apartment that felt like HOME in San Diego.

BEFORE
We started with such a blank slate and the item that made the biggest different?

AFTER
Wood Frames, Wall Shells, Texas Print, California Print, Sea Glass Print, San Diego Print, Surfer Print, Curtains, Curtain Rod, Dresser, Desk, Chair
Hands down the curtains! This was our first time hanging curtains and I’m happy to say it really was so simple. A small amount of work for something that made a HUGE difference in how this space feels. I ordered 4 panels of these cute cotton woven striped curtains and then found these gold curtain rods on Amazon.

Curtains, Curtain Rod, Dresser, Desk, Chair, Candle Warmer Lamp
Kenny did the drilling and we slid on the panels and just like that the room felt instantly cozy! Ad really loves neutrals but I wanted to add a little personality so this pattern was a good compromise. The curtains are beautiful and look so cute open or closed. She didn’t have a lot of room in this corner so I searched for a small desk and chair and we set up this cozy corner work space. She loves candles so I also added this cute candle warmer on her desk that doubles as a lamp. It was perfect because the desk is too small for a big lamp if she wants room to work.

I couldn’t love these curtains more! They come in a blue, yellow and green too. Now I just wish I had more places to hang them! We set her jewelry out on one of her nightstands for easy access.

Wood Frames, Wall Shells, Texas Print, California Print, Sea Glass Print, San Diego Print, Surfer Print, Curtains, Curtain Rod
We had a blank wall to play with and decided to add a little gallery wall of pictures. I found prints that had our same color scheme with the pinks and light blues.

Wood Frames, Wall Shells, Texas Print
A little bit of Texas (love this floral print so much!)..

more of the beach..

Wood Frames, Wall Shells, Texas Print, California Print, Sea Glass Print, San Diego Print, Surfer Print
and some San Diego and Cali prints to remind her of home.

We just played around with these frames until they felt right and then used velcro command strips to hang them. So easy. When the prints were up it felt like it needed something so I cut the velcro command strips down in small sizes and added them to the back of a couple of starfish seashells we had in her room. An easy finishing touch for her little wall display!

After we got the curtains and gallery wall finished we needed a break so off to SWIG we went. They just got one in Waco and we pretty much live there now when we visit. A nod to our Utah roots! Ha ha.. we took this pic to send to my parents. :)

Nightstand, Shell Dish, Jewelry Box, Lamp (similar), Aura Frame
I added some decor to her nightstands and brought lamps from home we’ve had for years. We also set up an Aura Frame in her room and she loves it so much! Always rotating fun pictures of family and friends.

We added pics to her bulletin board on this wall and the cute floor mirror we hung on our first move-in trip.

Dresser, Floor Mirror, Door Hook (similar), Scallop Quilt & Sham
We also added an over the door hook for her to hang purses/bags and found a tall dresser that was similar to her nightstands. The license plate is an old one with a funny story and she’s keeping it for a keepsake so we hung it over the door for fun. We also bought her a TV for this year.. first time she has ever had one in her room and she’s so excited about it! She isn’t in her room much, but loves to turn on Friends or Gilmore Girls at night when she’s alone and getting ready for bed.

Rug, Rug Pad, Floor Mirror, Scallop Quilt & Sham
The rug is so cute and soft with the rug pad and it added a lot of warmth with the curtains!

Dresser, Desk, Chair, Curtains, Curtain Rod, Scallop Quilt & Sham, Candle Warmer Lamp
Such a cozy spot to land each night!

Hand Towel, Woven Makeup Organizer, Soap Dispenser, Pink Soap, Woven Trash Can, Tissue Holder, Wood Frames, Beach Print
I gave her bathroom a good scrub down while I was there and we set out her rugs and organized her toiletries a little better.

I also scrubbed down her shower and added another cleaning tutorial.. ha. She is always so grateful when we come and help so it’s fun to do for her and it makes me happy knowing my kids have to do these things on their own most of the time! Lots of good adulting taking place. :)

Tissue Holder, Wood Frames, Beach Print

I helped her organize her closet and we added another hook over the door for jackets. The closet space is small so I brought my favorite pant hangers to save space! Love them.

We also added these cute scalloped baskets she had in her last room for extra storage on top. When her closet was organized we were finally done!

Whew! Time for another break. This college move in/move out business is no joke. :)

Our last afternoon there Ad had a dads sorority event so these two had a great time with all the girls and dads!

As for me? Hmmm.. sounds like a perfect time for another trip to Magnolia. I don’t have a hard time staying entertained in Waco.

One of Ad’s cute roommates wanted to come because her dad couldn’t make it that weekend and the two of us had the best time! I adore her college friends. We have all become so close. They really are her family.. which makes them our family too. :) It was such a HOT day so we had lemonade and stayed in the stores shopping where the air was blasting!

Dinner late that night with her roommates and a few other parents/friends!

Always a good time with college kids at Shorty’s. :)

I felt so good saying good-bye this trip! Always a tear or two but Ad is in such a good place with friends and college life. She is happy and doing well and working hard and knowing that she has great friends and a cozy room to retreat to and call home.. it all just made me feel good as a mom! I really can’t ask for more than that with my kids when they are away. Plus I knew we’d be on the phone an hour later and together again just a few weeks later. We have this long distance situation DOWN at this point.. ha.

When we were leaving her room a pic of her and El hugging at El’s graduation and our SWIG pic from the day before popped up on her aura frame! Her family is with her always. :)
Below are some favorites from last week that I’m excited about! Enjoy your week and bring on the holidays!
