Fall Family Room Decor

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

Bringing some cozy Fall vibes your way today!  I spruced up our family room a few weeks ago and we’ve been loving the changes.

Fall Family Room (Sunny Side Up)

This beautiful Fall print was my inspiration this year.  I ended up taking the glass frame off of it (the reflection of our french doors was driving me crazy!) and the colors are so bright and vivid.  Just stunning!  It reminds me of our time in Virginia and I’m going to be bummed when it’s time to take it down!

You all know that I struggle decorating this fireplace mantle because it’s so big.  I found this large ceramic vase and filled it with my favorite faux Fall leaves.  Then I just layered some of my cutting boards on the right!  I needed something with some height and love the warmth the different shades of wood bring into the room.  Fun for a change!

*pumpkins are real :)

It wouldn’t be Fall without a dough bowl full of pumpkins somewhere right?  I turned my fireplace on for these pics and kept checking my pumpkins to make sure they weren’t wilting!  Planning on moving this fun display when/if we actually get to use our fireplace this Fall. ;)

I kept my shelves really simple and just put a favorite basket on the bottom, my staple wood oval trays on the top (always fun with a few white pumpkins inside!) and this favorite pot with a faux plant the middle.

This room is making me so happy this year.  The warm colors and touches of gold.. isn’t Fall decor comfortable and inviting?  It’s my favorite.  Until Christmas decor comes around and then that’s my favorite.  And Spring in the Spring..

and my husband thinks I’m picky?  What does he know..  ;)

Here’s a fun Fall decorating idea.. toss some wheat (I got mine at the craft store) in a glass jar and tie some wooden beads around the top.  So simple and perfect for a side table, coffee table, centerpiece, etc.

I hope you enjoyed my touches of Fall in the family room!  This room has been a mess all weekend so these pics are inspiring me to whip things back in shape tomorrow.  Does anyone else feel like your home gets turned upside down and shaken around during the weekend?  Monday is always a major “put things back together” day for me after the kids go back to school.

Pumpkin spice candle will be burning strong. :)

  1. Just beautiful, Erin. I love the mix of the blues and the deep oranges. That picture you found is gorgeous! The wood touches are so warm and inviting. I like what you did with the wheat, too. Everything is lovely. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

    1. Thank you so much Jennifer! Three! Most of the time two of these branches is plenty (they are SO large and full!) but this vase is huge and there is so much space above my mantel so I went with three this time. :)

  2. Your house is just so beautiful Erin! I’ve been following along since you started building and have really enjoyed watching you make little updates.

  3. I like the mantle with the vase and plants. I’ve always thought my big mantel gets filled up nicely width-wise and with the height by using vases and greenery and I knew yours would, too. But your console table close by also looks good with vases and the height of whatever branches you were using, so it would look odd to use a vase and the height of branches on both surfaces on the same wall!
I have two vases on my mantel with tall branches, but then next to my mantel is a pretty big open space of wall where I am trying to find a faux tree, but then all my height and faux is on the same wall–not sure if it looks good or if I should keep trying. But your family room gives me inspiration on how to create a clean, cozy, and inviting space!

    1. So sweet of you Tamara! Thank you! I know. Putting that console table next to my fireplace definitely made it an even more tricky space to decorate since I can’t duplicate items on both! Sounds like the same issue you’re dealing with. It pushes me to get creative for sure and I never feel like I have it quite right and exactly how I want it. But kind of close this time! I’ll have to live with that. ;) Good luck with your tricky spot! xo

  4. I wish a had fireplace mantle to decorate. I’m feeling that I’m running out of spots to decorate in our house. I see some new decor and then I have to stop myself because I’m running out of places to put them. I love the wheat stalks.

  5. Erin, the room looks so lovely – I would love to sit with a good book and a hot drink and just enjoy the Fall goodness of it! Being “picky” – in my book – is a good thing :) You know just what to “pick” to make your rooms feel so homey and inviting! Love everything that you do!

    1. Patty you are a sweetheart! And I’m telling my husband those exact words next time he gives me a hard time about being “picky”.. ha! Love it! :) Thank you!! xo

  6. Okay, that wheat grass vase is my favorite! What a warm and cozy and simple yet beautiful touch. The oranges and navy together are a beautiful combo!

  7. Erin, your house is beautiful! Wish I lived closer so you can come and help me decorate. Where did you get your Farmers Market sign?
