Our weekend and my favorites on sale!

Memorial Weekend Sales (Sunny Side Up)

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope you’re all enjoying some down time this weekend.  I’m so grateful for this special time to spend with my family and remember and honor those who have died while serving our country.  I bought this flag about a year ago and finally installed it so that I could put it up this weekend.  Seeing it every time I pull up to our house makes me feel so proud and grateful for the people who have served and continue to serve our country.  I always feel that way but I’m loving the constant reminder.

Today was the first day in a long time that we didn’t have much going on.  It was also the first time we’ve had sun this week!  It was such a nice low key family day.  We watched movies and swam in the pool (I think Kole could use one more ball in that hot tub..) and went on a drive and had milkshakes and I did a little organizing.  I mean really.. does it get any better than that? :)

I was picking up the kitchen at one point and walked into the family room and saw this fun scene.  Patriotic decor by Kole.  I figured we could all gain a few take aways from this look to use for the 4th of July.  You’ll definitely want to pin this and refer to it often.  My couch has never looked so festive and inviting.  Ha. ;)  I love that boy.

I shared this Feta and Tomato dip recipe on IG stories but wanted to add it here for anyone who missed it!  One of my favorite things to take to BBQs and to snack on in the summer.  So easy and delicious!  You can find the recipe here.

You guys.. I’m giving our playroom a little re-fresh and I’m so excited about it!  Making it more of a teen space now that my kids are getting older.  I bought this new rug and was going to share it when the room was a little further along, but it’s on sale for such an amazing deal this weekend (less than I bought it for!) so I wanted to share it now in case any of you love it too.  It’s the Reflected Diamond rug from West Elm.  I debated using it in the playroom, but now I’m thinking I’ll put it in our outdoor area to replace the rug that we’ve had there the past few years.  I’m so grateful for all of the rain we’ve had this year but my outdoor rug has seen better days!  I’ll share more playroom progress soon.

There are so many fun sales going on this weekend and I’ve rounded up favorites from my go-to stores (like these pillows I’m loving in my living room!).  These are all things I have and love or are things I would love to pick up myself!  Quite a few of them I already have. :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Thanks for the sale tips and the couch decor tips from Kole! Fun in the sun! Love all the pool accessories. So fun. Happy you have had a nice relaxing weekend. You’ve earned it for sure. :) Hope the sun keeps shining!

  2. Hello! I’ve been a long time reader of your blog, but have never left a comment before today. I wanted to thank you for recognizing Memorial Day without saying “Happy” before it. My family is a Gold Star family. My husband was KIA in Afghanistan in 2010, leaving me to care for our 4 very young kiddos. I never correct people when they do say, “Happy Memorial Day”, but I will tell them how much I appreciate it when they don’t use that phrase.
“We remember” is much more appropriate.
ThNk you again, and enjoy your family time this weekend as we will too. Many have sacrificed so much to give us this weekend and they’d want us to enjoy it. God bless you and your family. ❤️🇺🇸

    1. Danielle I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. That breaks my heart and I can’t begin to imagine all you’ve been through. Thank you for reaching out with your sweet comment. I have said “happy memorial day” in the past and never thought about how that might hurt those who have lost loved ones. It’s so good for all of us to hear this and understand what is and isn’t appropriate. Your husband is a hero and I will remember and honor him this weekend and say a special prayer for you and your sweet kids. Thinking of you all! Thank you again for reaching out. It means so much to me that you have read my blog for so long. I’m honored! xo

  3. It’s nice to see the note from Danielle. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who has lost. I know I am not. It just feels that way. I am a Gold Star Mom. I lost my son in 2011. He served in the United States Marine Corp as an EOD Tech. He disarmed bombs for a living. I am sorry for her loss as well. I am new to your blog. I have enjoyed reading it and seeing your home. It is lovely. Thank you for the kind words about this weekend. It is a tough one for those who have lost loved ones serving in the military. You have a sweet family. I look forward to enjoying your blog for as long as you post. Enjoy your family time.

    1. Candace your comment brought tears to my eyes and made my heart ache terribly today. I’m so sorry to hear about your son. I can’t even imagine. I’m glad you were able to read Danielle’s comment and feel a connection with her. This is a tough weekend for so many for sure. It is an honor to remember and feel gratitude for strong, heroic men and women like your son. We all owe them so much. Your family will be in my prayers for tomorrow and always. I hope you are surrounded by loved ones this weekend. Thank you for your kind words about my blog and home! It means so much to me and I’m honored to “meet” you. xo
