Christmas Home Tour (living and family room)

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

*Details on my cute red skirt and other recent favorite clothes in yesterday’s fashion post.  And yes.. I’m using the same porch picture to kick off both posts because it was enough work getting my husband to snap one picture like this.. two was out of the question. ;)   *Affiliate links used

Friends!  It’s finally here!  Our annual Decked and Styled Christmas Home Tour!  I’m so excited to be joining a group of my close blog friends to share a peek inside of our homes decked for the holidays.  Nothing like a Christmas home tour. :)  If you are popping over from my friend Sarah’s blog (Life on Virginia Street) hello and welcome!  So happy to have you here!  I’m currently sitting in a pair of my favorite pj’s typing this post with a Christmas movie on and my candle burning in the background.  Isn’t this time of year the absolute best!?  I couldn’t love it more. :)

Today I’m sharing my entry, living room, family room and a re-cap of a few rooms I’ve already shared.  I wanted to squeeze a few more rooms in this post, but you’d all be scrolling for an hour and since I know how busy we all are this time of year I decided to share the rest of my Christmas decor in other posts this week.  So come back for more!  My motto when decorating for Christmas is “no room left behind”.. ha!  My husband teases me that I have so many Christmas trees up I’ll be adding one to our garage before long.

Hmm…  come to think of it that space could use a little holiday cheer.  Not a bad idea. :)

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

This is our front entry (details on this space here) and I kept it pretty simple this year.  You might notice things I moved in for our table from other rooms in our house. :)

Some greenery, ornaments in a favorite dough bowl and red flowers.  Easy Christmas cheer.

The lighting in our formal living room was so awful the day I took these pics!  This shot turned out a bit yellow looking but despite that, I’m loving this room.

The pops of red just make me happy.

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

I kept our tree in this room similar to how I had it last year.  The main new addition was this cute knit ivory garland.  I love it so much!  It adds instant coziness. :)  I almost bought the knit ivory tree skirt to go with it (also so cute!) but then remembered I had a blanket with the same look so I just wrapped that around the bottom of the tree. :)

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

I became obsessed with these lit glitter birch trees and first shared them in this post about all of my favorite Christmas decor.    I knew they would sell out fast!  I added them to my mantel with some fresh greenery.  They look especially cute with the lights turned on a night.

My large dough bowl was perfect to hold some of our Christmas books.  My kids read on the couch in this room a lot because it’s away from the main busy loud areas of the house (kitchen, family room) so this was a perfect place for our books.  Nice and quiet and a great spot to curl up next to the tree with a good book.  Something I hope to be doing very soon. :)

These fabric reindeer are too cute.  I’ve been buying one a year of the smaller deer for a few years and then was in PB a few weeks ago and they were marked down on their way out so I picked up several more.  This one on my table is the larger deer and I just have one of him.  He steals the show. ;)

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

I totally spaced taking a picture of this side of the room with my O Holy Night sign and the top of my Christmas gallery wall so a few of these pics are from last years’ tour since the gallery wall is the same.  Just telling you in case you were wondering why my table decor changes in a few pics.

I’m all sorts of tricky like that. ;)

And now on to our family room!

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

If it looks the exact same as how I decorated it for Christmas last year, that’s because it is. :)  My kids love tradition and so do I and this room has a lot of decor that holds special meaning for us all so we don’t mix things up too much in this space.  (For those of you who are new to my blog, all of my paint colors are listed in this post and I wrote all about this Chunky and Wool Jute Rug (natural) that’s a long time favorite in this post.  I tend to get a lot of questions about those two things so I’m throwing that out there early. ;)

Here are lots of pics of our annual family room Christmas decor that my kids help decorate every year. :)

I’ll share our kitchen decor next! :)

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

If you missed my office I decked it for the holidays and shared pictures of it here.

The girls and I decided we work much more efficiently in this space now that it’s ready for Christmas. :)

I also shared my mudroom Christmas decor in this post.

My favorite room in the house.

Balsam Hill Artificial Christmas Tree

And for the first time I decorated a tree in my master bedroom!  Next year I’ll share my Christmas decor in the rest of this space.  I have to first share this room with you in January.. I tend to get ahead of myself sometimes. ;)

FREE CHRISTMAS PRINTABLES (Sunny Side Up)

If you are still working on your gift list and are feeling the need to get organized with what you already have and who you still need to buy for, there is a place at the bottom of this post to sign up to get my free Christmas gift list printables!  I have LOVED using these this year.  Such a huge help keeping track of all the gifts I’m buying and wrapping this year.  You can see how my kids and I are using them in this post.

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

And speaking of gifts, if you still need ideas you can check my annual FAVORITE THINGS post OR yesterday’s post where I shared some new fashion favorites for the holiday season.   So many cute things I’m loving!

But let’s be honest.  Most days I am just counting down until I can put on favorite pj’s. :)

Displaying Christmas Cards (Sunny Side Up)

Christmas cards are coming each day in the mail and I’m so excited for the shiplap wall in our hallway to be filled with favorite faces!  One of my favorite things about December.

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

Thank you for touring with me today!  I’ll be sharing more throughout the week.  Wishing you all the HAPPIEST holiday season this year.

Christmas Home Tour! (Sunny Side Up)

Next stop on our tour is my sweet friend Shana (The House of Silver Lining).  She is building a new home so this is her last Christmas in the home she is sharing today.  I remember our last Christmas before we finished building and moved into our current home four years ago.  A bittersweet and special Christmas for sure.  Also be sure to check out the rest of my friends’ blogs and their beautiful homes!  I know each one of these girls personally and can promise you that aside from being so talented they are also kind, down to earth, wonderful people.  I’m grateful for their friendship this holiday season and I’m so incredibly grateful for all of you!

But I’ll save the sap for a post on Christmas Eve because it’s late and I’m too lazy to grab a box of tissues. ;)

  1. Fantastic array of Christmas goodness, Erin. Your rooms are so wonderfully decorated with both beautiful and charming items. All the items just draw you in to come and get cozy. There are so many things to love, they are too numerous to mention. One I noticed was that knit garland. How FUN! The reindeer are adorable. You have a wonderful eye for design. Thank you so much for sharing! Have a happy day and week!

    1. Thank you so much Jeanne! Isn’t that knit garland fun? I love it so much too. COZY written all over it.. and we like cozy around here. ;) xo

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your holiday decor! It so amazing how an already beautiful home is amplified by Christmas decorations. I just finished up (so late this year) and I’m enjoying every moment while I can. Question – my wall changes out for this time of year and depending on my mood, the art/photos may/may not go in the same position. Do you do anything specific to keep your walls from getting destroyed from hanging, re-hanging, hanging again? My poor husband is going to have my head if I put more holes in his walls! :-) Happiest of Holidays to you and your family!

    1. Thank you so much sweet Adrienne! You made my day. :) I’m so happy you like it! I use the command wall strips a lot for hanging things and they come off so easily! I also use painters tape for things that don’t weight much like my kids’ art work, Christmas cards etc. It helps with the hanging/rehanging. But I know.. it can be tricky when you like to move things around a lot like we both do. :) Happy holidays to you and your family too sweet friend! xo

  3. Erin,
Your home is so gorgeous and cozy. I also went back to the classic red this year and love it. I love how you use just enough decoration, but it never looks over done or cluttered. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family.
    Jenn

    1. Thank you Jenn! So sweet of you. I can never get enough of the classic red for Christmas. Happy you enjoyed it this year too. :) I hope you have a wonderful Christmas this year! xo

  4. Your home is always gorgeous, Erin, but you definitely step up the “WOW” factor for Christmas! Your trees are all so, so pretty.

    Wishing you the Merriest Christmas!
    Warm hugs, Carol

    1. You are such a sweetheart Carol! And so thoughtful. Thank you! I wish I could have you over for some hot chocolate. :) Happy holidays to you too sweet friend! xo

  5. Stunning holiday home, Erin!! I couldn’t wait to pop over for the tour. Thanks for inviting us in, and for all of the Christmas inspo. This is my favorite tour of the season. You did it, girl!! Jingle, jingle xoxo, Loi

    1. Loi! Oh my word.. it made my day hearing from you! So sweet of you to stop by! Thank you so much.. that means a lot coming from talented YOU! I hope you have the best holidays and are able to relax in that stunning home of yours! xo

  6. Erin

Your home is absolutely beautiful and your Christmas decor is so fun cozy and festive!! We share very similar tastes. I have many of the same PB pieces you have/ so obsessed with that store!! I actually got the same cozy beautiful yarn garland from crate and barrel. Anyway you did an amazing job and I love it all!! 🎅🎄❤️❄️⛄️ Trina Happy Holidays ps where did you find this large candy ornaments? I believe you had them last year too!! So fun

    1. Trina you are such a sweetheart! Thank you! Isn’t PB fun at Christmas time!? It’s my absolute favorite. :) Those large candy cane ornaments were from a store called Krumpets! Thanks again and happy holidays cutie! xo

  7. Everything is so pretty Erin! I have a question on how you do your family room gallery wall though. Do you use the same frames and just change the pictures after Christmas or do you already have other frames with non-Christmas pictures in them? I just wonder if you re-use the frames or just store them away after the holiday?

  8. Beautiful home and love your Christmas decorations. Can you tell me the dimensions of the mirror above your fireplace? When I go to the mirror link, it is showing 19 inches. Looks like your mirror is much larger than that. Thanks

    1. Hi Sheryl! I don’t have the dimensions with me but I can tell you that my octagon mirror was from Restoration Hardware. I’m not sure if they sell it anymore so I’ve linked to similar mirrors.. that might be why the dimensions look off! Hope that helps! xo

  9. Erin, I think that you have the happiest holiday home in blogland! And your family room couldn’t be more perfect for a cup of hot chocolate and some Christmas movies – when can I come over?? But I think my favorite part is your Christmas gallery wall – LOVE that idea so much! Hope you have the most wonderful Christmas with your family! XOXO

    1. Kris you made my day! Thank you so much sweet friend! I would give anything to have you over this holiday season! I could use a good chat with you about anything and everything right about now. ;) Happy holidays cutie.. love you! xo

    1. Thank you so much Kelley! I’m so happy you like it and wish I could have you over to chat into the night in front of the tree! Merry Christmas! Love you cutie! xo

  10. Erin, your holiday home always makes me so happy!!! I just wish I could come and hang out there with you (I really wish all 9 of us could hang out there with you:). Wishing you the happiest of holidays and so thankful for you and your friendship, dear friend!! Thanks for being on the tour and for making it amazing, as always! Love you bunches!!! xoxo :))

    1. Thank you so much Bree! I’d give anything to have you all over for a pajama party where we could chat late into the night! Would be the best Christmas present. :) I loved touring with you and hope you have a fun low key holiday with your sweet boys! Love you cutie! xo

  11. Your Christmas Home Tour is my all time favorite! The striking red decorations are perfect. Each room is so tastefully done! Wonderful inspiration -thanks for sharing!!

    1. Thank you so much Kim! I’m so happy you like it! The garland over my fireplace in my formal living room is real! I just got it at a local grocery store. :) The garland with pinecones and berries over my family room fireplace was from Pottery Barn, but I’ve had it for years and they don’t sell that exact garland anymore. Happy holidays! xo

  12. Hi. Where did you get the sign in your entry way that says “it’s so good to be home”? Love all the decorations.

  13. Erin, I love your traditional red decor, it’s so festive! I am feeling so much Christmas cheer after your tour! I love seeing your master bedroom make an appearance in your tour, I can’t wait to see more of it. I think my family would love it if I could find a way to incorporate some of our old holiday photos in our decor, I’m inspired now! Oh! and I almost forgot to tell you, I love your Christmas cards this yr! You have such a beautiful family, I hope I get to meet them all someday! Merry Christmas my friend ❤️ ~Jen

    1. Jen! It made my night hearing from you! Thanks so much cutie! I hope we get to spend some time together in 2018! Love road trippin’ with you. :) Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family! xo

  14. Is the link to the PB Comfort couch your exact couch? I’m love the size (couch + loveseat) but the one on PB’s website looks like couch + chair (and they have a sale this weekend!) Beautiful home!!!

    1. Thank you Betsy! You can customize the PB couch so my link is to the exact PB comfort I have, but you can get it made how you want – with the loveseat or without, etc. :)
