Small decor changes

Sharing a few small decor changes.  Because well, I have pictures of said changes and I figured I better hurry and post them since I’m itching to break out my Christmas stuff and change everything yet again!
I originally had these fake pomegranates in my newly spray painted basket…
but decided to replace them with some pumpkins and gourds fresh from my garden.  No.  Not really.  I don’t know why I just typed that.  They’re from the grocery store.  But didn’t that sound cool?  Fresh from my garden.  The one I tend to in my spare time.  ;)
I actually do have some mini pumpkins fresh from my mom’s garden that she gave me when we picked up my kids after our New York trip.  The girls had fun picking them.

Small touches of Fall in the kitchen…

and in the living room because I replaced all of the fake white pumpkins with real white pumpkins.  Fresh from my mom’s garden.

I love the white pumpkins.  Aren’t they just the coolest?  Each one has such a unique shape.  So simple and perfect.  They make me happy when I walk by them every day.   It’s the little things, isn’t it?
Added a fall wreath next to the hutch.  One I’ve had for a while.
Lately these have been sitting on the corner of my hutch.  Man.  I’ve fallen off the wagon when it comes to scrapbooking.  I’ll have to put scrapbooking right up there on my to-do list next to planting a garden.  :)  I don’t have much left to do to finish these albums for my girls so I’m hoping to do that before the year ends.  Then my number one New Years goal will be to start the kids’ new PL albums!  And stay on top of them!  Because I never am!  Even though I set that goal every January!
While I was in New York I stumbled upon a HUGE Anthropologie.  The smell beckoned me to come in.  As it always does.
So many fun displays in that store.

I fell in love with a wall.  A wall full of aprons of all things.  But they were seriously the most adorable aprons.  And I thought – hmmm – maybe that’s why I don’t enjoy cooking!!??  I don’t have an adorable Anthro apron to wear in the kitchen!
So I picked out my favorite and brought it home with me.  After paying for it of course.
So far it hasn’t made me want to cook anything.
But it sure looks cute hanging in my kitchen!  Maybe I’ll break it out over Thanksgiving.  And wear it while I “help” my mom.  It will look cute in her kitchen too.  :)
I bought one other little thing from that larger than life Anthro in New York.  I’ve been looking for a cute dish towel that brings together the new colors in my kitchen and this little bird just spoke to me.
He chirped please let me come and sit by your kitchen window!

After I got him home I realized he would have a few feathered friends…

Guess I’m into birds lately!

Which seems to be fitting this time of year.
:)

  1. Your changes look great! I love the new apron and dishtowel! I think a cute apron always makes your food taste better :) And I’ve been totally into birds lately too! Not totally sure why because I don’t really like birds, but it seems lately that I’m drawn to anything and everything that has a bird on it!!!

  2. so funny- i have an apron from anthropologie that i got TEN years ago (maybe 11 years ago) – and this past weekend I was going through stuff and I said to myself, “time to give this to goodwill- it is never going to make me a cook!” Ha! But it is cute- so I ended up keeping it anyway! :-)

P.S. I am going to the hospital to have my baby today (11/9)! I am so excited and nervous all at the same time! :-)

  3. LOVE all the black wrought iron additions. It just says fall. And I totally LOVE that black basket with the jars with black lids…. where or where did you get that???? Super cute!!!! Happy fall!

  4. Hi Erin – I like the fall changes. Love fall. I was wondering when you were going to have a Project Life post (that is how I found your blog originally)…I can’t imagine trying to keep up with it with 3 kids. I struggle with it and I only have one (though I am 8 1/2 mos pregnant with my second). Have you seen Becky’s new products and designs? Just wondering which ones of those you liked..Good luck with catching up!

  5. Erika!! SO excited for you! Can’t wait to see pictures of that sweet baby!!

Pam – The hand towel rack was from a Utah based store called Tai Pan. I’ve had it for several years though so I’m not sure if they still carry it.

Anonymous – The black jar basket I bought at a specialty store in my hometown (Santa Clara, UT) called Uncle and Aunties. It is one of my favorite things!

I buy a lot of my decor in Utah because when we are there I have free babysitting! :)

Thanks for the sweet comments everyone!

  6. Hi Megan!

I actually ordered all of the new kits a year ago from Becky! The Amber editions for my girls and the Turquoise edition for Kole. I just haven’t had time to get started on them and I know the next two months will be SO busy so I’m going to crack them out in the New Year! I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of PL posts in 2012! :) I agree – hard to keep even though PL makes it much easier!

  7. Way cute decos!! I am loving your lighter colors! Love the anthro aprons too. I bought one for my mom last year and I picked the same one you got!! We’ll be down south for Thanksgiving….wish we could run into eachother!

  8. Did I miss what you did with the plates you got at the Z Gallery? kind of a geometric design in an aqua colo on a white baackground . . .?

  9. Hi Mason!

Haven’t posted what I did with those yet. They are on the top shelf in my kitchen above my microwave but I haven’t finished decorating that space. I’ll share it as soon as I finish it! :)

  10. Love your little decor changes! I’m totally into birds and owls at the moment, love those cute little guys :)

I am itching to break out all my Christmas stuff too….including the tree! Haha, I think it’s a tad too early (well, that’s what the hubby tells me anyway) so I’m trying to wait a little longer.

    Have a lovely day!
    Megan

  11. Your home looks great, and I absolutely love the dish towel you bought. So many pretty colors!! I read your blog all the time, but I think this may be the first time I’ve ever commented. I originally found your blog through Becky Higgin’s site. I LOVE Project Life, but I’m way behind, too! Anyhow, thanks for sharing your updates! :)

  12. I really did buy into that you got them from your garden! It wouldn’t surprise me at all. I didn’t even know there were white pumpkins – how fun. Cute aprons are very fun to enjoy in ‘helping’. Awesomeness. We’ll be in San Diego for thanksgiving!

  13. How do you display the photos on the door? they look like they are hanging by something? I love the idea of displaying art work! I never know how to!
