Fashion Friday (on a Sunday) :)

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!  We were traveling Friday (spending the holiday in Utah with family) so this post is up a little late.  But I have so many cute things to show you!  I’m excited.  :)  Last weekend I made my husband go to Banana Republic with me because he was in desperate need of some new tops and shorts for summer.  He has been sporting shorts he’s had since before Addison was born.  (She’s 10)  His shorts were faded, outdated and had small paint splats on them from when we were building.  I told him it was past time for a new pair or two and he said “Why?  These still fit.”  I just shook my head.  Seriously!?  That man.  So off we went to the mall!  With me promising we would only hit BR (his favorite for clothes) and that we would be fast since the mall is one of his least favorite places to hang out.  I’ll never understand that… but opposites attract, right?  :)
favorite-gap-t
Remember my favorite summer tee?  I’ve been living in these just like I knew I would.  (On sale right now!)

k's-fav-tees
The first thing we found was some favorite every day tees for him!  Vintage wash and slightly fitted.  They look so good on him.
br-sale
He tried on lots of styles of shorts and our favorite was their Aiden shorts.  A great fit and length so we bought several pairs in different colors.  Hallelujah!  I can toss his old shorts.  He also loves BR’s Camden shirts so we bought him several different patterns like this one and this one.  LOVE these shirts on him.  They look great with slacks for work or with jeans for every day.  Thought I’d share what we loved for him quick just in case any of you have a man in your life who is also sporting clothes he’s been wearing for 10 years.  Or is it just my husband?  :)

This shirt is my favorite that we bought him.  I wanted him to try on a few things for my Fashion Friday post but that was a no go. ;)  So later in the week I snapped this pic of him before he took Ad to ballet when he wasn’t thinking about it.  Because I’m tricky like that.

Ok.. so we’re in BR trying on clothes and we realize that they are having a huge sale.  50% off of everything!  Best luck.  I wasn’t going to try anything on for me.. I really wasn’t.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up and I always stock up big during that sale so I wasn’t going to get anything at BR.  But how could I pass up 50% off!?  And that sale was on top of things that were already marked down too!  They were practically giving clothes away!  At least that’s how I saw it. :)
fossil-crossbody-bag

Remember my favorite Chino cropped pants? (also on sale!)  I’ve worn these a lot this summer but the only top I have to wear them with is a black tee.  Looks fine, but I don’t love black in the summer.  I’ve been looking for a cute white shirt to wear with them and I found it!

BR-cropped-camo-pants
Isn’t this white sleeveless ruffle sweater so darling!?  LOVE it.  It’s simple and a great fit and perfect for summer!
BR-white-tee
One of my new favorite outfits!  Love it with my new bracelet and a cross body bag.  It’s a tad on the see through side so I’m wearing a white tank under it.
BR-green-skirt
I had to dress up for a dinner last week so I wore it with this green skirt I’ve had forever from Banana Republic (BR pencil skirts are my favorite) and my new coral Vince Camuto heels.

I loved it so much I bought the same top in another color.  Isn’t this emerald green pretty!?  This ruffle sweater tank also comes in gray and tan.
green-clutch
This pretty green goes so perfectly with my new necklace, bracelet and clutch from last week’s Fashion post.  And I have to add that it feels nice to be in a stage with my kids where I can use a clutch once in a while.  I miss a lot of things about my kids being little, but hauling around huge purses that held diapers, wipes, extra clothes, fishy crackers plus tylenol for me.. I don’t miss. ;)
BR-white-sweater
Ok.. next fun find from BR!  I fell hard for this white open knit crew sweater.  I know it’s summer and it’s hot so sweaters don’t sound appealing, but I think a good white sweater is a great wardrobe staple and I have a hard time finding white sweaters I love.  Plus this isn’t a heavy sweater and with the cropped sleeves it’s perfect for cool San Diego summer evenings.

I know I’ll be able to wear this sweater so many different ways.

So I bought it in mint green too. :)  But seriously, how could I pass up this color?  Especially at such a great price!  It also comes in red and black.  striped-tie-shirt
I bought this pencil skirt from BR (in navy) a few months ago and haven’t worn it because I didn’t have a good blouse to go with it.  When I saw this striped tie front shirt I knew it would be perfect!  It’s really thin and lightweight and dressy casual.  Which is my favorite kind of dressy. :)
BR-navy-skirt
This skirt is high waisted so I also tried tucking the shirt in.  So cute either way.  I love my tanner bar necklace and watch with button up blouses like this.

It’s also really cute with jeans.
navy-and-gray-purse
And with my navy and grey faux leather tote.  Which is on sale for less than $25 right now!  Seriously!?  Seriously.    (Also Pottery Barn is having one of their “buy more save more” sales this weekend and outdoor pillows like my pillow in this pic are marked down.  Love these holiday sales!)
with-el
A little visitor photobombed my photoshoot.  :)
nordstroms-dress
One last thing!  I ordered this dress on-line a while ago from Nordstroms and have to share it with you all because it has become a favorite.  And because I finally took a picture of me in it last Sunday after church.  :)  So cute and every time I wear it I get lots of compliments.  It’s also SO soft and comfortable.  I got it in navy but it comes in lots of other colors.  The navy, cobalt blue and black are still full price, but the green, coral and red colors were just marked 40% off!  It says on-line that it runs big and it really does.  I’m wearing an XS and it’s roomy so if you are in-between sizes definitely get your smaller size (or even order down a size).  Another reason I love this dress.  ;)
nordstrom-dress
I’ve worn these coral earrings I’ve had for a few years so much that I think it’s time I got another pair or two with coral in them.  It’s a color I love to accessorize with!  For clothes or home decor.  About to buy this pair or this pair.  Both so cute.

Ok.. signing off because I’m getting tired of seeing pictures of myself in front of that same mirror so I’m sure by now you are too. :)  I had too much fun in Banana Republic and had to share my favorites with you!  Especially while everything is marked down so low right now.

Happy 4th everyone!  Hope you are safe and enjoying the long weekend.

  1. It all looks lovely! I’m insanely jealous of the clutch – I’ve spent the weekend lugging around a big boring black bag with wipes, drinks, snacks, teething risks… Lol

    1. Krystal! I’m laughing. I so know how you feel! That was me too for so many years! It’s funny though.. all of the sudden you’re out of that stage and it’s nice, but you miss so many things too. Embrace and enjoy it all before it’s over! Even the big boring black bag because you’ll be buying cute clutches before you know it. ;) Happy 4th to you and your crew! xo

  2. Love all of your outfits, Erin! You have great style. I’m off to check out some of the links to see what I can get for myself! :-)

    1. Thank you so much Shannon! Fun to hear from you! So many good sales this weekend. Happy shopping and happy 4th! :) xo

    1. So sweet of you to say Patrice! Thank you so much! I love that ruffled sleeve top too.. I just wore the white one again today. :) Happy 4th to you and your family! xo

  3. At least Kenny goes with you. I had to go buy Marty new shirts and shiorts also. Do they just get attached to their old clothes. I couldn’t survive without shopping. I guess they don’t know what they are missing. ;) love all your finds. Can’t wait for Nirdstroms sale.

    Happy fourth!!

  4. Oh my goodness this is so my husband. He still wears a tshirt from when we were dating. ..16yrs ago!!.. he’s so proud that it fits still, and don’t get me started on his shorts lol
I love your finds. .super cute!

    1. Thank you! That necklace I’ve had for years and I can’t even remember where I got it! Same with the bracelet. It was a Christmas gift from my sister years ago. So sorry that’s not more help! I actually tried to find something similar to both of them to link to in this post and couldn’t find anything on-line. If I ever come across anything similar I’ll add it in a post. :) xo

  5. I LOVE that emerald green top with jeans and that gorgeous clutch! So pretty! I feel eternally stuck in unattractive maternity clothes right now and can’t wait to wear real clothes again. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you a bit :)

    1. Oh Emily! I SO know how you feel! I remember those days so well and you feel like they will NEVER end. It feels so good after you have the baby and start fitting in regular clothes again. Hang in there cutie! Thank you! And congrats on your new addition. :) xo

  6. All of your finds are so cute, but I LOVE that dress! I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I think the cobalt version is my favorite.

I’m not married, but my dad is the same way about clothes. I think it’s a man thing! I’m just impressed you got your hubby to try on clothes for you/with you. :)

    1. Ha.. I think it’s definitely a man thing Amy because my dad is the same way! Too funny. :) I love the dress in cobalt too! In fact I had that color in my cart for days before I finally decided on the navy. It’s so cute in all the colors! xo

  7. The link you posted for your favorite v neck tees at the start of the post from Gap-how deep is the v-neck? Is it pretty modest or do you wear a tank underneath?
My husband loves to wear old clothes too and hates to shop -drives me crazy. And he wouldn’t ever wear a v-neck tee even though I think they look great!

  8. Gah! You are all so nicely dressed! Um, my hubby would definitely not go for mall shopping, so you have a great guy there. You found some great items for both of you. I adore that dress on you! I adore that clutch, too. I’d probably leave it somewhere with my luck. Missed seeing these posts when they first posted. We were in Sioux Falls, SD for the week. You might like that we drove to Walnut Grove, MN to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum there. And literally stood on the Banks of Plum Creek. We saw where the dugout was (caved in now). It’s always fun catching up, with your posts, though. :)

    1. No way!! The Banks of Plum Creek!? That is my favorite Laura Ingalls Wilder book. :) What a fun trip Jeanne! I’m putting that one on our “must see” list. So fun to get away with family. I hope you all had the best time! xo

  9. Haha yes, my husband still has a few items from nearly 20 years ago!

So many outfits to love in this post. My favourites are the two green tops (knit and ruffle sleeves) and the whole outfit with the pencil skirt and striped blouse.

  10. Just bought the Banana Republic cropped chino pants. These are the BEST! Now I know why you’ve been raving about them! Highly recommend!
