Fall ideas (waiting patiently)

This summer has been so great.  The best.  We’ve had so much fun.
I really didn’t want summer to end.
Then last weekend it rained.
And suddenly Kole and I had to make our favorite banana bread muffins.

(We are messy when we make our favorite banana bread muffins.)
The rain smelled SO good.  And the banana bread muffins smelled SO good.
And before I knew it, I was in the mood for Fall.

So I started pulling out my Fall decor.
And then I put it back.
(What!?  It’s early August!)
And then I pulled it out again.  :)
I haven’t started decorating yet – everything is still in boxes in the hallway.
But I don’t know how long I’ll be able hold off.
I know it’s early.  And we are still enjoying our last few weeks of summer.
But I can’t help it.
I’m so excited for Fall.
So just for fun.  Just to get ideas.  I pulled up my Fall Pinterest Board.
I was thinking that a vase with simple leaves would look good in the dining room.

And a crate full of pumpkins and flowers would be fun for the nook.

Simple Fall decor looks classy in glass containers.

So do acorns and candles.
I was also thinking that painting pumpkins would be fun to try this year.

So would painting acorns.

I found my Fall color inspiration.
And fun “Fall bucket list” ideas for the kids.
I discovered a few fun ways to entertain with pumpkins.
(I can hear the football game on in the background!)

And really spooky bookshelf decor.

I also landed on the simplest Halloween candy witch brooms.
That even I could make.

Plus I found my all time favorite Fall quote.
Fall.  I love you.  Waiting not so patiently patiently for your arrival.
Yours truly,
Erin

  1. I’m getting excited for fall too, Erin. I think once we start thinking about school starting I get in the mood for cooler weather and colorful leaves. Your house will be so fun to decorate for each season and holiday this year. I can’t wait to see it! 😊

  2. The summer of 2012 was scorching hot with something like 30+ days over 90, and living in Cleveland- scorching hot is just not what we do. I was pregnant with my 5th and just plain over it. So, the pumpkins went up in August (the 15th to be exact). My husband thought I was insane but he just went with it because I was huge, hot, and angry and well… he just knew better. That was the year of the never ending fall and it was just lovely :)

  3. Oh girl! I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEE Fall! If it could be Fall forever I would be so happy! Warm days cool nights…stunning colors…amazing fall smells! *sigh* Not rushing summer but I really love fall. I don’t love our winter here….it’s awful!I could skip that for sure!

  4. I can’t wait till the autumn & counting down the days:)

I suffer badly from summer SAD which is worse this year because we’re having an extra warm summer this year in the UK – I detest it!

I love everything about autumn – the lovely colours of the trees, the crisp air, dark evenings – so many wonderful things:)

By the way Erin, that autumn bucket list for children would be my list too – we don’t have some of those things here, but they still sound brill:)

  5. OH Erin I have had the itch for Fall since mid July and today your post is just what sent me over the edge lol let me just say ITS BEGINNING TO LOOK ALOT LIKE FALL AROUND HERE. 6. Hi Erin,

I feel exactly the same way! I am itching for Fall and all the warm and cozy feelings it brings. But….it is still August! So instead of putting up my Fall decor, I lit one of my Fall candles! Instantly, it was Fall in my house :)

    Joy

  7. We all have our favorite seasons and we are in mine…SUMMER!!! LOVE IT!!! The kids are out of school, lazy days at the river, grilling on the B-Que, watermelon, and sunshine!!! Summer could last forever and I would be the happiest person in the world!

  8. On Monday night here a lot of people lit candles to remember those who died in the 1st world war. It was called something like The Night The Lights Went out.

It was from 10.00 -11.00 Monday night.

Even tho I didn’t actually light any candles (I was nervous of having one in my house as one burnt my mantle a few months ago) I just had the light on by my telly. The pictures that people posted of their candles on facebook looked lovely & very touching.

It’s starting to get darker earlier in the evenings now – yaaaaaaa – I LOVE it:)
