We have stairs!

Real stairs!  That we can walk up and down!  And a railing to hold!  It's wonderful.  I feel like Tom Hanks on The Money Pit.  "We have stairs!"  Classic.

Top trim wasn't quite finished when I took most of these pictures.

Now the top trim is finished.

Several of you have asked me when the house will be done and we can move in.

"Two weeks!"

Kidding.  Still in Money Pit mode.  :)

We are supposed to finish in July (one year from our start date) but since I know that there is no such thing as a house that is built on budget and on time I'm crossing my fingers for August.

Crossing my fingers... but not holding my breath.

That video made me laugh. Isn't that the way it always is? The stairs are beautiful. Love the trim and doors!!

August is only 3 months away. It won't be long Erin. I really love all the details you have added. I am sure it will be simply stunning when it is done.

I'm swooning! The stairs remind me of a freshly sharpened pencil on a clean sheet of paper... just so much amazing potential :-)

Beeeeeaaautiful stairs! :) I am excited for you and your your new home for your family. There will be many memories you all will be making in that house so soon! P.s. do you have any tips on preventing marks, dings, and kids hand and fingerprints all up and down the walls of the stairway?? Besides of course washing their hands bc I do, but sometimes they slip away too quickly.

Wow, those stairs are amazing!! The craftman ship is stunning!! How tall are your doors? Are they going to be the standard 6.8 ft tall or 8 ft tall? They are gorgeous too. Thanks so much for sharing. So excited for you guys!!!

Beeeeautiful stairs, Erin! I spent most of my childhood watching "The Money Pit" and "The Neverending Story" so I'm always thrilled when someone else knows those famous lines by heart : )

Here's hoping you don't have the same bathtub scene though. Although I imagine Kenny might laugh in somewhat the same way : )

The stairs are beautiful! I'm so glad I found your blog & am following along with your family's journey of building a house! Building a house is mine & my husband's dream!

Thank you thank you everyone! Such sweet stair comments!

Lindsey - love that comparison because I LOVE freshly sharpened pencils! Thank you!

Laura - No prevention tips. Kids will be kids! But I use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for fingerprints and stuff like that. Wipes fingerprints right off!

Burse Blessings - thank you! Our doors are all 8 feet tall. Some are wider than others, but all the same height.

Lucy - Ahhh! Never Ending Story! Another favorite! Clearly we need a movie marathon party! And clearly we grew up in the same era! Ha! :)

It just keeps getting better and better! What color do you think you'll paint the walls? ( I know you already have a vision:))

The stairs looks great! And speaking of the video, I have never seen that movie. I will have to see if Netflix has it on demand!

Thanks guys!

Traci - The base color through a lot of the house will be grey but I'm not sure about around the stairs! We are just starting to really look at paint colors for the interior so I will let you know when I figure it out! Any suggestions? :)

Darnetha - Yes! Watch it! It is hilarious!
