Two things

that made me happy today...

Cleaning out our "catch all" drawer for the girls' endless art/school work.

And choosing the look/style for my inside window trim.  My finish carpenter put this together for me to make sure he knew what I wanted.  Aside from adding a wider shelf right below the window it's perfect!  I may have squealed.  :)  This is a peek of my mudroom.

And another peek.  A wall of cabinets (locker style) - one for each person in the family.
Ok.  Three things that made me happy today.

:)

What's making you smile?

When you move into your new house you're just going to walk around admiring everything all day! I would!

Your door is so awesome, esp for San Diego weather. :)

Erin - I love the door in the mudroom! Heck, I love the idea of a mudroom! That's the only thing that is lacking in my home...well, that, and some sunshine and warm weather! Winter has lingered much too long her in NJ!!

Delightful. Let's see what's making me smile ... reflecting on a wonderful vacation to St. George with dear friends last weekend :).

I had lockers put in at our last house. They cost a ton of money, but were they ever worth it. Unfornunately, another family is enjoying them now because my husband was transferred about a year after we installed them! Grrr....our new house doesn't have space for them. Seriously, you will LOVE them!

It's the little things isn't it? Someone we do business with at work brought in my favorite Cheryl and Company cookies. He told me had such an awful week but knowing he could make someone elses day better would make him feel better. He brought in a box to share and also my own special stash! :-)

I thought of you when my friend sent me this link. lol

Love that door off your mudroom! I'm smiling because my son was so proud of his Science Fair project we displayed this morning!

Very exciting to see a room in your new house coming together! I LOVE that room!!! Am in the process of designing a mud room for our house but the process has been so slow. You will have built an entire house in the time it takes us to get a room done!

Those two things would make me smile too!

Thanks everyone!

Courtney - I think you're right. It will a year to actually sink in that it's real!

Becky - Yea! This is hands down the best time of year in St. George. So glad you got to enjoy some time there!

Stephanie - Love that! I'm going to have to check out those cookies. And thanks for the link! You know me well. :)

So cute Sarah!

Lynnsey - I so know how those projects can linger! It will be worth it in the end I'm sure!

Erin, I've been following your blog for some time and I have to say I love EVERYTHING you do! All of your organizational strategies have made a world of difference in my tiny 830 sq ft New York apartment. While my husband doesn't love the price tag on the beautiful OXO containers and baskets that have popped up around the house he does love that I can walk in the door and not feel suffocated by all the clutter! It is also our dream to build a nice big house in a few years when we are fed up with city living and I may resort to copying every single thing you have done. Your house is going to be absolutely amazing and I love that you are willing to share the whole process. Keep up the good work!

PS sorry to delete the previous comment, who knew it would post my last name!

Everything looks wonderful!!! I love to watch things come together like that. I have a question - how tall are the ceilings? The door way looks like a Hobbit's nook compared to the giant door that you've designed.

Hi Kim! Oh my word - you made me laugh! That isn't the door way. That's a mini storage closet under the staircase. It is a hobbit door! :) Our ceilings are 11-12 feet throughout the house. I'm short, but not that short. :)

Hi Kelly!

What a sweet comment! I'm so happy you decided to say hello! And thank you for your kind words. I'm thrilled that you have been organizing! It's just the best feeling, isn't it!? Thanks again. So nice to "meet" you!
