My little boyfriend

Oh Mr. Kole.  My little boyfriend.  Exactly two months from today you will turn three.  I don't think you can turn three.  You are too good at being two.  In fact, you pretty much have the two year old thing mastered.  :)

I can't look at these pictures without smiling.  They so perfectly capture your little expressions and personality.  You are so much fun right now.  And so much trouble.  Fun and trouble all mixed into one.  Your favorite thing to say is "not yet."  It cracks us up.  Sometimes you say it so matter of fact.  "Kole - it's time to brush your teeth" --  "not yet."  Sometimes you say it when you are mad and throwing a fit.  "Kole it's time for a nap."  NOT! YETTTTT!!!!!!!"  You are still such a mommas boy.  We are together 24/7 and we both prefer it that way.  Sometimes if I'm away from you it feels nice to have a break.  For about 20 minutes.  Then I start to miss you and wonder what you are up to and I can't wait to see you again.  You love your sisters so much Kole.  You call them "my Ellie" and "my Addie."  When they are at school you run around upstairs calling "my Ellie!" "my Addie!"  "where are you!?"  Then when I tell you they are at school you get mad and yell "not yet!"  :)  You also adore your daddy and get so excited to see him.  I have a hard time getting you in bed at night because you don't want to leave dad's side.  You still love your pillows Kole.  You love to pile them all up on my bed and then tap all of us on the shoulder to "come play."  So we do.  We all pile on the bed and play in the pillows with you.  Your favorite is when dad tosses you high in the air on top of them all.  You also love to cuddle.  Our favorite time together is right after you wake up from your nap.  I get you out of your crib and we come downstairs to the couch and we turn on Peppa Pig (your favorite) and then we cuddle.  We cuddle as long as we possibly can.  We are always bummed when our cuddle time is interrupted by life and the schedule.  You love swinging at the park, practicing your ABC's, riding in the car, Eggo waffles, taking baths, and your choo choo trains.  You are working hard on your speech Kole.  I am so proud of how hard you try and of all of the progress you've made this year.  Your therapists adore you.  Even though they say you have "compliance issues."  I have to suppress a smile sometimes when you are acting up in therapy.  You love to stir things up and get a reaction.  Like I said before, you are very good at being two.  :)  You are one big ball of energy Kole.  You love to run and climb and jump and play play play and mess up your sisters toys and mess up the house and mess up the laundry and mess up whatever you can find to mess up.  You make life messy.  And I never thought I'd say this, but because of you, I'm starting to like messy too.  I wouldn't change one hair on your sweet smelling head little buddy.

At least "not yet."  :)

Love you so much Kole -
xoxo,

mommy

Oh my goodness this writing will be such a treasure for years to come (I sound old!). What a celebration of your adorable little boy! So sweet. We are making books/writings for our kids this valentine's day and I wish I had your ability to write and express!

Hi, dear Erin. I've been reading your blog for a long time now but never left any comments.

Firstly, you have an amazing family and seem to be the best mum any kid could ask for. Since my parents got divorced when I was little, I haven't had a chance to experience a family life so much and now I am at age when I'm planning to have my own family very soon... And all I can say is that you are my role model - saying that through what I've read and seen here on your blog. I don't know you in person (obviously), but I can feel that you are honest, it shows in your sweet and dear posts over here.

I guess you'll hear from me soon, since now I've break the ice with this comment.

Best to you and your family!

Sara from Slovenia - you might check the map to see where this is :) (hint - it's in Europe)

Oh, how I love this post! Kole reminds me so much of our grandson Cameron, who is also 2 years old!

Kole is such a handsome boy! He is lucky to have such a fun and loving Mommy who writes such sweet things!! This just made my day.

One more thing....I recently saw a definition of a boy on one of those wall quotes. It said...

boy, n.
1. noise with dirt on it

But your Kole looks so clean and neat all the time!

absolutely love this, Erin! Captures so much of what I feel about my little man, too - amazing the beyond between Mama and boy :)

3??? How can that be? I am laughing about. "Compliance issues", doesn't every kid, especially 2 & 3 year olds have that problem? Good thing they are cute, and he certainly is!

I know I say this pretty much every time I comment, but Kole reminds me of my little buddy, Luka. And reading this made me cry! So touching :)
ps-Luka is in therapy too (as I often say too, ha!) and at almost 20 months, finally called me Mama last week...his first word <3

Sara! Oh my word - what a sweet comment! Thank you! I'm so glad you broke your silence and said hello. :) I'm also very touched that you think I'm a good mom and role model. So kind of you to say! I'm sure you will make a wonderful mom. It's the coolest thing ever. Thanks again - it's so nice to "meet" you. :)

Jane - that definition of boy made me laugh out loud! Too funny and so true! And I assure you, Kole makes his fair share of messes. On average we change his clothes 3 times a day. :)

Hollie - YEA!! So happy to hear Luka said his first word! I remember so clearly when Kole said his - it was "more" while I was feeding him and I dance around the living room for 10 minutes I was so happy! :) Hang in there with the therapy. I know it can be a pain, but it has made such a difference and is helping Kole so much.

I can't believe he's turning 3!!! I have loved watching his sweet smile on this blog for the past 3 years. Little boys are so special. Keep on cuddling him Erin:)) One day he will not only say "not yet", but "not here Mom!" It comes quicker than you think, but when the friends are gone, and you're at home....they still cuddle:)))

Ha! I had to laugh at "compliance issues". My son (now 6) got a report from his speech therapiest where it stated that "Michael was non-compliant". He was 3 at the time. When he was ready, he did it all and now at 6 he is light years ahead. Keep with it Erin. He'll do it when he's ready and will surprise you all!

Oh my gosh, I didn't realize our sons were nearly the exact same age! My James is 3 in March too! :)

Kole is such a sweetie:) I have to tell you...because it is my job to do so...in approximately 5.9 years...his head will NOT smell so sweet. That is when he must shower/bathe daily. AND start deodorant. Trust me on this, please. As a mom to 4 boys...most do not start the deod soon enough. Don't argue with me folks. On this...I am correct. Ask any 3/4th grade teacher.

Have a great weekend Erin. Thank for being you!
