Goals and Windows

Well crap.  I’ve gone and blown my New Year resolutions already.  You know.  The two goals I set every year and never achieve: go to bed earlier and cook more.  Since it’s well past midnight and I am still up and since I can see the box from Domino’s pizza still sitting on my counter from dinner I’ve decided my goals need some tweaking.  New goals for 2013:  never go to bed before midnight and order take out at least once a week.  No.  At least twice a week.  There.  Goals I will actually accomplish.  :)
I spent my evening sending out e-mails for the new house so now there isn’t much time left to blog.  Things with the house have been busy and exciting!  I’ll share more soon but since I’m short on time here are just a few pics I took yesterday.  We have windows!  They are camping out in the garages and are being installed tomorrow.  YEA!

We chose double hung windows for the front and sides of the house (grids on the top half only) and the full grids for the back of the house.

 Kitchen bay window.

Master bedroom window.  I think?  It’s late.
 French doors.

More French doors.
And transoms for above the french doors.  :)
I can’t wait to see them installed.  It’s finally going to start looking like a real house!
I’m off to bed and will share more soon.  Enjoy your day!  And I officially give you all permission to tweak your New Year goals if you so desire.  I’m feeling much better about 2013 already.
:)

  1. Erin, Next stop Costco to get a case of Windex. That’s a lot of glass to keep clean with three kids! LOL. It looks beautiful :) So happy for you!

  2. One of my goals was to eat healthier. Was going great until I found a container of shortbread in the pantry. I didn’t want the kids to eat it so I made the sacrifice. Those windows are going to look stunning.

  3. Ha! Thanks Alison! I know! I should get my kids washing windows asap to practice! :)

Bette – you cracked me up! So kind of you to make that sacrifice. :)

  4. Erin, I am so excited for you and your husband! I love picking out windows, paint, brick you name it! What a wonderful experience for you!! Loving your blog..

  5. I love your goal tweeking idea!

One of mine was to stop texting while driving. I only made it one day. ( I can hear the *gasps* from your readers!)

And I’m pretty sure I’m going to make it a goal to drink MORE diet pepsi as opposed to even considering cutting back.

  6. love love love all of the windows this house will have!
one question, on a completely different note: i know you don’t like to cook- i don’t either so i don’t blame you, especially with all of the new house stuff and the busyness that comes with life with kids. but, is there a reason you don’t order in healthier food? or buy whole foods/trader joe’s versions of unhealthy foods?

  7. exciting!! it will really start to seem even more ‘real’ when those are installed! (my parents built a house my freshman yr of high school) :)

skip the windex and invest in norwex for the cleaning – those clothes are amazing!!

ever seen a demo or used some yourself??

  8. Thank you so much Marissa and Reenie!

Shari – HA! K – more coke drinking gets a thumbs up. Texting while driving… Shari! NO MORE! You’re too important to me. :)

Anna – my kids love Dominos so we get it once every other week or so. Last night they begged and I caved. :) We eat healthy meals too. Tonight was chicken and asparagus. We get a good mix of the good stuff and the bad stuff around here. ;)

Heidi – no! I’ve never heard of Norwex! But I’m definitely going to check it out! Thanks for the tip!

  9. We had a snow day today and I am just now winding down. I checked your blog and saw your post on your house…Ya for windows!!! Seems like it is all coming together. Love the ones you picked out!

I have one resolution this year…Don’t make any. HA! I never stick to them. I just go with the flow. It seems to work for me!

Can’t wait to see what the house looks like with all of your pretty windows.

  10. Can’t wait to see the finished house & how you’re goi to decorate it! It seems to be getting built quickly though!
