Creative Messes

Sharing a few “creative messes” that have been happening around my house lately.  Oh my word.  It is impossible to keep this place clean.  I’ve given up!  Cupboards and drawers are still organized (because that’s the only way I stay sane) but the rest of the house?  Not so much.
You’ve seen Kole’s pillow pile.  A daily occurrence.

And then we have the girls’ books turned doll houses.  Creating a perfect center for drawing, reading,

and playing.
Next up – houses for the Littlest Pet Shops.

The furniture is a perfect fit and washrags make ideal beds and couches.
Friends that are too big for the books sleep in a suitcase.  Naturally.

When my girls aren’t putting their friends to bed inside of books and suitcases, they head to my bead to create a fort for them.
“Pillow land fort” to be exact.

Which is a bit ironic because there are no pillows left in pillow land fort.
Kole is no doubt stashing them in a pile somewhere.
Yesterday my wood floor samples became race tracks.

And just before Thanksgiving my girls came up with this configuration.  They took our Easter tree, added candles, construction paper, pumpkins,

and a homemade turkey on top.
I have NO clue what this is exactly.  I didn’t dare ask.  But it entertained my girls for over two hours.
And that my friends, is a mess I can handle.
:)

  1. The girls surely seem to have a creative gene. I wonder whom they picked up that from?

Love reading about your new house, can’t wait to see more pictures!

  2. I love that kind of mess. My girls are teens and I wish that I had documented more of their “messes”. That’s where memories are made.

  3. I love the Easter/Halloween/Thanksgiving tree! Too funny and cute! Your messes seem a lot like ours. I am amazed by the sheer volume of stuff my kids can get out in such a short amount of time. I am so glad we do a clean up every night or I would go crazy!

  4. Haha! I had completely forgetten making houses out of books! I used to do that all the time. Its amazing the creative things kids come up with for play!

  5. I have never in my life seen houses with separate rooms made out of books! Oh. My. Word. That is incredibly creative! Did the girls think of that themselves?

There’s no end to the fun making forts out of blankets, card tables, etc., so I know your girls are having a blast!

Kole cracks me up with his piles of pillows. You have 3 fun-loving beautiful children!! I just love reading about them, too!

  6. I love how your children play with their toys, especially the books:)

    The tree is brill:)

It’s great also that your children enjoy playing with toys. So many children don’t seem to be into them much these days. I remember my niece was only into Barbie etc for about 3 or 4 years, whereas I played with mine until I was about 13:). (In the UK our equivalent to Barbie was Cindy in the ’70’s)

I actually kept a lot of my dolls & teddies etc & they are up in the loft in a big bag:)

Have you got your Christmas tree up yet & have you been to listening to your Christmas CDs?

Thanks for a brill blog, you always make me smile:)

  7. The mess can always be cleaned up later, your kids are making awesome memories and that is way more important!! I love that you let your children use their imagination, your house is lived in and full of love xoxo

  8. You have such a good attitude, Erin. My house has just been plain messy so not too much space for fun messes. When Lily was little she used to make houses out of books for all her little puppy stuffed animals. :)

  9. I used to make those same book houses. Awe that brought back some good memories. I have boys so I can totally relate to the pillows and forts all over the house! Fun!
