pantry and paper towels

Did I remember to thank those of you who offered help with my iphoto struggles?  THANK YOU!  Several of you offered tips that have helped a lot.  And several of you also shared house struggle stories that made me smile and feel better about our situation.  So kind of you all.  One reader (hi Cori!) asked this question in the comments:
“I am sure you get this a lot: but, is your mother into organizing as much as you are?  I’m just curious.”  :)
No.  My mother is not that into organizing.  She is clean – our house was always very tidy growing up, but she is WAY more low key than me when it comes to cupboards/drawers/closets, etc.  I drive her nuts with my attention to detail and impossible quest for perfection.  However, it doesn’t seem to bother her as much each summer when I come to stay with her and organize her kitchen.  Imagine that.  :)
A few pics of my mom’s pantry from 2009 —

I have fun plans in store for her pantry this summer!

And while we’re on the topic of pantry’s and kitchens once again….here’s Kole’s latest trick —

La de dah — happily playing with my paper towels…

 Crap.  Mom found me.

Oh well.  She thinks I’m so cute she won’t even care…

See what I mean!?  She’s just standing there smiling and snapping pictures.
I am SO running the show around here.

And now I’ll happily scoot away leaving mom with my mess.
Adorableness gets you pretty far in this world.

(Told you my boy was smart)
:)

  1. Feel free to come organize my pantry any time. I’m moving soon and going through everything. I need a better organizational system for my pantry. *sigh* maybe when I move I’ll come up with one.

  2. Hi Erin, first time commenting but have loved your blog since I found it in January. (I emailed you about sticker organisation a while ago too). Totally addicted now and was really missing your posts over the last week! :) I love what you did with your mums pantry, she must be thrilled to open the doors and have everything so neat and easy to find. It’s very rewarding to do a job like that and see such a difference. I love organising too! I spent Easter reading all your old posts and just have a few months left in 2010 to get through then I’m done! I actually had to get myself a notebook and make notes as I read through, as there were soooo many good ideas and I didnt want to forget any of them! Anyway, I will send you an email soon as I have a few questions for you. Hope you’re having a great week.

  3. You win daughter of the year award! And how adorable is your little one with the paper towels! :) I noticed he also had your wallet too. :)

  4. What a cute little stinker! I love that there is a little baggie of snacks just sitting there for him – but he is going to make the paper towel cloud around him! I love your pantry reorganizations….I do mine, but having 6 kids and a husband cramp my style of a nice, neat, organized pantry! Sigh.

  5. Gosh do you make house calls. That is awesome. My pantry is so amazing — very big but also creates some challenges and needs a better organization system. Such an adorable ‘helper’ you have.

  6. I’m a teacher, and my goal this summer is to get all the closets, drawers, and cabinets reorganized. I’ve already started with my pantry and some closets. Thanks for the inspiration and great ideas!

  7. Thanks for the shout out! :) And, thank you for the answer! I was always curious.

I am envious of how big that pantry is and love the after pictures. You work your magic well! I bet she could find things a lot easier too. How long did it stay like that? haha.

Lucy does the same thing with toilet paper, just unrolls the whole thing. I agree; she is too cute and just gets aways with it. Kole looks so cute and innocent. :)

    Thank you again!

  8. Your mom is my idol! I mean, how many packages of chips and cookies did she have in her pantry??? Awesome.

Looks like Kole also got his hands on your wallet??? He really is running the show.

Had so much fun yesterday! Tell your mom I’m adopting her because I don’t have one anymore. :(

  9. Very nice! My pantry could use some help right now! Can’t wait until summer vacation! My brother once did the same thing with some paper towels when we were camping. He was supposed to be napping!

  10. I just found your lovely blog today! While reading through your posts I’ve found so many similarities that I had to comment! I am a former teacher who lives in San Diego. I LOVE to organize and eat peanut butter by the spoonful! If fact my post today was about my “disorganized mother!” How funny! Happy to be your newest follower!
