Recovery & Friends

Last week I went to see my doctor and had my blood drawn again. She called yesterday with the results and my hematocrit level (a test that measures the percentage of blood that is comprised of red blood cells) is finally around 40 which is considered “normal.” At one point I was as low as 4, I left the hospital (after a transfusion of 5 units of blood) at 12, a few weeks ago I was 31 and now finally my hematocrit level is around 40. (YEA!) I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. I’m also doing a lot better emotionally. I still feel sad sometimes when I think about everything that happened, but for the most part I’m grateful. Grateful that I made it through this experience and grateful that it’s over and I can move on. I’m also incredibly grateful for my friends.

(attempt to hide my pregnancy weight behind my skinny friends – it worked!). :)

When I was in Utah a couple of weeks ago I went to a baby shower for a good friend. Many of my good friends were at the shower and this was the first time I had seen them since my incident. When I walked in the room they all surrounded me – and hugged me – and told me told me how happy they were to have me there – and I cried – and I thought about all of the love and support I had during this experience from so many friends. Friends from my childhood, friends from high school and college, friends from Utah, Virginia, and California, friends from my neighborhood, friends from Ellie’s Elementary, friends from Addison’s preschool, friends from church, friends from blogging. All of my amazing friends were there for me in one way or another. I just wanted to say thanks. Thank you so much. You all mean the world to me and I couldn’t have survived this without all of you.

I love you all.

xoxo, Erin

  1. And I think I’m the first that gets to say “I Love You, too!!!” So glad you’ve made it through all of this! (I LOVE my memories of working at Zion’s!!!)

  2. HAHA!!!! I wasn’t there, but I am one of those that waited by the computer to hear from Kenny, praying for good news. Congrats on your levels!!!! PERFECT!!!!!

  3. How grateful I am to have had the J-ettes. I would have never had the opportunity for my life to be bettered by your influence without being in drill. Getting to know your heart through the past couple of years of reconnecting has been a very good experience for me. So thanks for staying alive, and mostly, for…LIVING!

  4. I always think it is funny when people say they have to go through something alone…in reality we never go through anything alone!

By the way….that last picture of all the prom dresses….soooo hot! ;-) LOL.
